Rebirth Of The Demon
Chapter Fourteen [ 14 ]
Hidden Tigers And Dragons
‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗‗
The darkness which loomed overhead was gradually being replaced by a mesmerizing stretch of reds and blues as the golden orb arose. Accompanying its majestic entrance, was the dazzling rays of light which shone down like divine pillars, illuminating not only the surroundings but at the same time, soothing the heart of Li Feng.
Stretching his hand as though he was trying to touch the skies, Li Feng peeked through the gaps of his fingers whilst allowing the warmth to spread through his entirety. Being greeted by this scene left a sweet aftertaste within him as it meant that he would live his like a normal person not only today, but the days that comes after as well.
Although it had been four days since Li Feng had been reborn, everything still feels unreal to him. It just sounds ludicrous and even if he was to expose this secret to someone, the conversation between Li Feng and that person would probably be ridiculous.
Li Feng : Hey man, I have a secret of mine that I want to share.
Man A : Sure, what’s up?
Li Feng : I.. I am not really who you think I am..
Man A : Oh? Then who are you?
Li Feng : My name is Li Feng.. But not really the Li Feng that you have known all this while.
Man A : O-okay? And?
Li Feng : I am a member of the special forces that died in an explosion but had miraculously gotten reborn in the body of this Li Feng.
Man A : …
Li Feng : So? What do you think?
Man A : My dear friend.. You dropped these..
Li Feng : Why are u handing these screws to me?
Man A : I think your head might be missing a few.. Screw them back in, tighten them and the mental institute is that way..
At this point, no matter how Li Feng defends himself, it would only serve to convince the other party that he is truly insane and even if he throws himself into the Yellow River, it would not cleanse him of his suspicions. [ 1 ]
Even if anyone did believe even an ounce of what he said, there would only be one route for him and that is to be kidnapped into a faraway location just to be treated like a specimen by a group of men clad in white gowns.
Sfx Guru~ Guru~
Humming a melodic tune, Li Feng swivelled his way across the bumbling streets that brimmed with life. As expected of an early Monday morning, either for school or for work, people of all ages can be seen squeezing themselves through the waves of civilians.
Li Feng was naturally included within, he wasn’t spared from this torment. He had no doubt that if it weren’t for his tolerable strength, he would be drowned in the multitude of human flesh and may possibly be led to Africa, who knows?
’If only I had a car..’ Similar thoughts ran through the minds of the people that travelled afoot, and whether it was for themselves or for the family that counts of them. It was this simple desire that fuels them forward, guiding them towards a better tomorrow.
Slapping the board down on the pavement, Li Feng stepped aboard, swivelling through the morning traffic like a fish in water, leaving the cacophony of engines and stampeding footsteps behind.
The constant changing environment flashed past like still images, tugging at his heartstrings as he hummed an intrinsic tune. Right as he turned around the corner, Li Feng’s body jerked subconsciously, triggering a chain of instinctual responses.
Forcibly halting his descend with a hard stomp, he sent out a well-practised kick towards the back of the board, sending it twirling in mid-air as he followed up with a swift grab before holding it firmly.
Calming his rugged breathing, he turned his head to look at the side of the curb. As he gazed at the neat row of lampposts, one in particular stood out the most, instantly drawing in his attention.
Why was it this particular one that stands out the most? If Li Feng were to put it in simple terms, it would be that it looked abnormal, pretty much the “ Black Sheep ” of the family or so to speak.
It looked extremely out of place, forming a stark contrast to the rest with its horribly bent and twisted metallic frame, at a glance, one would shudder at the thought at what caused this abnormality. Scars were strewn all over its charred surface, the upper portion of it was nowhere to be seen, only a jagged end remained where it was supposedly ripped apart.
Cordoned off to the public, yellow traffic cones were placed around the non-functional lamppost with yellow and black striped tapes throughout, connecting every single cone.
Striding across the crack-woven slabs, Li Feng then crouched right before the cones and stretched out a hand. Running his fingers against cold ground, his black pupils slowly traced across the patches of dried mix of brown-ish red substances.
Abruptly, a jolt of pain squeezes its way through Li Feng’s skull, causing him to drop the skateboard in his arms to clutch either sides of his head.
This sudden change seemed to have invoked a certain part of his mind that seemed as though they were covered in a dense curtain of fog, shutting itself entirely from Li Feng.
’Could it be a memory loss?’ He thought inwardly as he knelt by the roadside.
Coming to a sudden realization, he sat himself down on the stabs without heeding the gazes that he had attracted towards himself.
“Mum, why is that weird Gege( Big Brother ) sitting by the road?” A child turned towards his mother and asked naively as he passed by Li Feng’s figure.
“Mu-mmmhmmm” As her son was about to speak, the middle aged woman hurriedly covered his mouth and whispered “Shh! What do you know, this is what happens when you don’t study hard in school! You will end up as a beggar.” Finishing her words, she dragged the child away as though she was afraid that Li Feng might run up to her for some spare change.
Ignoring the attention that he has gathered, Li Feng searched through his memories and as he had expected, he couldn’t remember anything specific about the day the accident took place other than a few minor details like saving an animal and the two headlights he saw before blacking out into a coma.
As he tried to peer into the fogged-up memories, pain struck his head once more, contorting his handsome features into a bunch. Breathing heavily, sweat trickled down his face as he grounded through the onslaught of piercing pain.
Probably due to the recent collision which had possibly impacted his head, Li Feng guessed that he had lost a portion of the memories on the day of the incident. Every time he tried to force himself to recall, it would always result in a throbbing headache.
Tapping himself on the head a few times, Li Feng let out a groan as he stood up flimsily. Placing one and one together, it wasn’t hard to guess that this was the scene where the accident occurred.
’Who was it asshole that fuckin’ ran me over? You’d better pray to the heavens that I do not regain my memories or I’ll fuck you up!’ Inwardly, he had already thought up of the cruellest methods to exploit the prick that did this to him.
Previously, before Li Feng had been discharged from his stay, the police had actually visited him at his ward for procedural statements of his side, such as the recollection of the events and so on, so forth.
According to what they officers, Li Feng found out that the perpetrator wasn’t put behind bars as it was a hit and run. Eyewitnesses which helped with the investigations gave out descriptions of the vehicle but not its license plate they didn’t see any or it could probably too hectic at the time to even notice
Investigations were held, evidence weren’t found and without any leads, they couldn’t find any suspects and so, the case was dropped soon after.
Of course Li Feng had found this part to be weird as investigations should have continued but was responded with “If you have any leads, please contact us and we’ll do our best to help you.”.
Thinking back, Li Feng started to get mad and kicked at the ground, inadvertently sending a pebble that happened to lay by his feet flying into the sky.
Sfx Clank! Thud!
With a “ Clank ”, the pebble landed beside a CCTV camera which was laid atop a lamppost a distance away from his location. Following the pebble with his sight, Li Feng had already noticed the camera that had broken lenses which made him a little heavy hearted.
In the vicinity, there was only a single lamppost equipped with a CCTV security camera and it just oh so coincidentally happens to be broken.
’Broken CCTV? Hidden license plate?’ Stringing these pieces of information together like puzzle pieces, the fog ahead had cleared up a little. Li Feng’s face sunk as he delved deeper into his sea of thoughts.
“Seems like someone had planned this beforehand eh… Interesting…” Li Feng’s voice was tinged with a little amusement, his eyes beamed with a bone freezing chill.
Knowing that he was being targeted like a fish on a chopping board, the blood that flowed through him danced wildly with excitement. As though he was being preyed on by a viper, as long as he isn’t bitten, Li Feng is sure that whoever it was that pulled the strings behind the plot will reveal himself sooner or later as long as he remained patient.

In less than five minutes, a familiar sight soon came into Li Feng’s view. Looming over him was a pair of metal gates that towered near the entrance, on either sides were signboards with four words carved into each of them respectively, Ren Yi High School.
Students crashed in from all sides like surging waves, seemingly endless when seen from a distance. Those that were better off drove in, while the remnants simply rode on their bikes or walked afoot but envy was inevitable whenever one of those branded vehicles drove past.
Probably because it was currently Monday, the students looked lethargic and resembled zombies which had nothing in mind, just aimlessly following ahead with their shoulders slumped forward and their heads bowed low.
A common trait that he noticed was that the majority of them held onto phones, some burying their faces into the screen as though they were attempting to cross over to the virtual world, some enjoying their music, some texting while some conversing on their handheld phones.
It was a morning without words, the students routinely marched through the entrance and onto the campus grounds like they always do. Looking at this sight, Li Feng shook his head ’Youngsters these days, I doubt they can even survive a day without their phones’
Lamenting like an old fart, Li Feng picked up his skateboard and strode into the campus grounds. Renyi High School, a simple co-ed high school without any merits nor demerits to his knowledge, there isn’t any special history behind it at least none that he knew of other than the slightly westernized styled architecture.
Making his way around the campus grounds according to his inherited memory, Li Feng went in and out the hallways, up and down the stairs before finally arriving at his destination.
After sliding the door open, a very standardized classroom revealed itself to Li Feng’s sight. Wooden desks were placed in pairs, divided into rows ending up with a podium right in the middle located at the front with a blackboard behind it.
Ignoring the measly amount of students present, Li Feng walked up to his seat and slung his backpack over the desk before breaking into a daydream.
Basking in the warmth of the sunlight, Li Feng stared unblinkingly at the unbounded skies that stretched as far as the eyes could perceive. His mesmerizing eyes flickered with a myriad of emotions unbeknownst to anyone but himself alone.
Under the illuminance of the rays of light, Li Feng seemed as though he was a child of god shrouded by a divine veil, the whole scene felt unreal yet oddly natural at the same time.
During his momentary absence, students started pouring into the empty classroom one after another but not a single one of them took the initiative to greet Li Feng solely because of the pressure the emanated from his figure.
Looking at his figure, similar thoughts ran through their heads. Something felt very different from the usual individual that they had secluded and avoided from but no one could place a finger on it no matter how their minds churned.
All in all, just by taking a single glance at Li Feng, they could feel a sense of distance as though they were in the presence of someone who is of a higher position which they could never amount to.
Shoving the thoughts to the back of their heads, Li Feng’s classmates soon congregated into their own circles of friends, breaking out in senseless chatters with each other as they clowned around but the emergence of someone soon halted them in their conversations, followed by a series of greetings directed at that person.
After the exchanges of needless greetings, the figure swept his gaze through the rows of students in the class before landing at a lonely individual which was situated right at the end of the classroom by the window.
▪••● ●●● ●● ● ●● ●●● ●••▪
“Classmate Li Feng!” At the mention of his name, Li Feng snapped out from his trance and shifted his lazy gaze towards the approaching figure.
Sfx Thud! Thud! Thud!
Sporting an amiable smile across his handsome face, the figure strode towards Li Feng’s direction with slow yet steady steps.
Li Feng evaluated the teenager who stood before his desk with half opened eyes and instantly, something clicked in his mind.
“Tsk..” Li Feng clicked his tongue in disdain as the teenager inched closer towards him but due to the distance between them, the teenager did not perceive it.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
This visitor could be considered a “ Prince Charming ” with his tall stature and outstanding features which exuded an air of confidence. There was no doubt that this person is someone that’s popular amongst the females but in Li Feng’s eyes, he was just a clown dancing around in a suit.
“Do you need something?” Turning his head ever so slightly to the side, Li Feng rested his chin at the palm of his hand and looked on amusingly as Da Wei stiffened at the words that came out from his mouth.
“Haha! Nothing, just greeting my fellow classmate!” Snapping out of it, Da Wei casted Li Feng a signature smile of his and patted Li Feng’s shoulder. Sweeping his hair in a fashion he thought looked charming, David turned away as he waved behind him like an ending scene in a movie.
Watching the back of the clown as he strutted away, Li Feng then turned his head to look at where he was patted previously and dusted it off with a hand before returning to his daze but a smirk had quietly crept its way up onto his face.
Not long after that, a series of racket clamoured at the hallways located right outside the classroom, unrestrained laughter and cackles resounded clearly in the ears of everyone present but no one spoke up, just silently whispering amongst themselves.
Leaning back comfortably in his seat, Li Feng observed his surroundings and noticed the similar expressions of dismay which had spread across his classmates faces which meant that it wasn’t that they didn’t pick up on the ruckus but rather, chose to ignore it in perhaps, fear?
Sfx Pang!
All of a sudden, the door of the classroom slammed open with a loud resounding “ Pang ”, interrupting everyone from their thoughts, some even jumped up in surprise due to the abrupt outbreak.
Three silhouettes soon staggered their way in, two at the front and one at the back, all three males was instantly pushed into the spotlight as many pairs of eyes locked down on them.
Paying no heed to the rude gazes, the two slovenly looking juveniles leading upfront strode in light-heartedly as they resumed their chatter as though there was no one else in the room. Trailing behind them like a follower, was a much more presentable youth with a calm demeanor.
Da Wei who just had an embarrassing encounter with Li Feng, was just about to head to the restroom never expected the trio to show up at this moment.
Seeing as Da Wei was heading towards their direction, the slovenly youths shared a look and smirked before coming to a halt, standing by the doorway clearly planning to obstruct Da Wei’s path.
Witnessing all of this, the classmates within the confines of the room had various emotions running through them, the female students subconsciously clenched their small fists with paled complexions while the boys feigned an expression of helplessness when they are infact, feeling excited for the show that was about to unveil its curtains for all to view.
Unable to move forward, Da Wei simply stopped in his tracks with an appropriate distance between himself and the trio so that he may act accordingly as the situation changes.
Da Wei looked on coldly at the two who had a smirk on their stupid faces, knowing that they had done this on purpose, he was starting to lose his composure but how could a public figure like him flare up in public, with that thought in mind, he simply glared at the trio who happened to cast the same exact disdainful glance towards himself.
Just like this, both parties stared silently at each other without an ounce of movement, as time passes, the quietened atmosphere starts to tense up so much that you could probably hear the drop of a pin in the background.
“Move..” Unable to bear with the silence, Da Wei turned out to be the first one to speak out with his hands still within his pockets.
“Huh.. Gorilla ( Xing Xing ), do you hear a dog barking?” Responded the youth with a toothpick dangling loosely between the gaps of his pearly white teeth, who then turned his head upwards to look at the hairy man beside him.
“What the fuck did you call me you darned midget, my name is Zhou Jin Xing, not Xing Xing!” Rebuked the hairy teenager clothed in a similar outfit. Sulking, he then continued “I don’t hear any barking though, probably because my ears are too small compared to those freaking satellite disks of yours.. Pfft..” Finish his sentence, Zhou Jin Xing couldn’t help but let out a chuckle escape his lips.
To be honest, Zhou Da Er couldn’t be considered short in anyway, it was Zhou Jin Xing who was too tall, towering over any normal teenagers easily with his ginormous stature but Zhou Da Er’s ears are indeed a little bigger than normal which was why he uses it as a way of teasing him.
“You hairy mother fucker, let’s settle this outside then!” Having been stabbed in his sore spot, Zhou Da Er snorted and stretched out both hands, gripping firmly at Zhou Jin Xing’s collars.
“Shut up!” Just as the situation was about to escalate even further, Da Wei bellowed in an annoyed tone, successfully prying the bickering cousins apart who then directed their glares telepathically towards Da Wei.
’Fucking barbarians, first obstructing my path and then treating me like air..’ Cursing inwardly, Da Wei silently removed both hands from his pockets without anyone knowing in preparation for whatever’s that is about to erupt.
“Gorilla, I think the dog is about to pounce, what should we do?! I’m scared!” Zhou Da Er spoke as he covered both hands onto his chest.
“I’ll give you three seconds.. Move or I’ll move you with force..” Da Wei’s patience was thinning out, it wasn’t that he was afraid of the intimidating looking pair but he has this feeling that something might go awry once this fight erupts..
This was the reason why he never bothered with the trio all these while, but if a fight does break out, he will not necessarily back down because the trio has no background to speak of unlike him.
“Ohhh~ I am so scared~ Just kidding~ I’m not moving an inch, what are you going to do about it you pretty faced boy..” Zhou Da Er smirked as he too got into a stance.
“3..”
“2..”
“1..”
The trio didn’t move a single bit during the countdown that everyone did within their mind, after three seconds was up, gulping can be heard within the midst of the background.
Da Wei was done enduring with the god darned pair, since the veil between them had been torn apart[ 2 ], there’s nothing to stop him from acting otherwise..
Everyone knows of the enmity between the two parties so it would not affect the “ Charming White Prince ” image of Da Wei in everyone’s hearts if they fought but will also serve to make him much more popular with the community when he takes them down.
Having realized this point, he starts to move. A foot behind the other, Da Wei raised both fists up to either sides of his face and smirked, he does not believe that these clowns could stand up to his skills.
Da Wei wasn’t acting on arrogance alone but truly, had the skills to back up his words. Not only was he a member of the Ren Yi Boxing Club, he had also won an interschool competition that was held recently. All of this pretty much explained why he didn’t hesitate in standing up to the pair which seemed extremely intimidating in the eyes of the other students.
Taking in a deep breath, Da Wei’s figure flashed before everyone’s eyes and appeared before the pair of faces with disbelief riddled all over it, thinking that he has this in the bag, he then sneered inwardly.
Using the momentum he had gotten from the advancement, Da Wei then thrashed out a loosened palm towards Zhou Da Er’s jaw which gradually tensed up into a balled fist as it encroached.
Seeing Da Wei’s fist inching closer towards Da Er’s face, everyone widened their eyes in surprise as they only saw his figure disappearing before appearing once again, this time with a fist rushing towards the delinquent’s face.
Not only them but Zhou Da Er and Zhou Jin Xing as well, stunned by the abrupt situation, they could only stare on in disbelief as Da Wei was too quick, to the point that they hadn’t reacted to the sudden change!
Sfx Swoop~ Thud!
A soft thud rang out distinctly in the ears of everyone, sending a roomful of jaws to the ground as they could not believe the sight that had displayed before their unblinking eyes.
Da Wei’s eyes widened as well, but rather than surprise, it flashed with terror as the situation was too unreal.
When everyone had expected Zhou Da Er to crash into the ground which would alleviate the situation to another level, it had turned out in the other way instead.
Zhou Da Er was still standing without any hints of injury?
Rather than a “ Crack ” followed by a “ Crash ”, it ended up as a soft “ Thud ”.
Everyone stood agape, as they could clearly see an slender leg bounded by the school’s provided trousers sticking out of the seam, in between the Zhou cousins upright figures.
An exposed ankle and a single, normal looking Adidas sneaker which its sole, is up against the tightly balled fist of Da Wei.
As quickly as the leg had appeared, it then retracted with a speed just as fast as its jaw-dropping entrance.
’My jab was stopped by him?!’ Da Wei questioned himself inwardly but he was sure that he hadn’t seen wrong, he didn’t notice the movements of the person that follows the Zhou cousins around like a lackey.
’Was I wrong all along? Was he the one that was giving me this ominous sensation since the day I became loggerheads with this pair? Was he originally that strong?’ As he delved deeper into his thoughts, Da Wei’s heart shuddered.
Everyone had realized at this point that, they have belittled the gentle looking juvenile that follows the Zhou cousins around, there could even be a possibility that he is the actual leader of the trio if taking his strength in consideration..
After retracting his leg, the gentle looking juvenile tapped the shoulders of the Zhou cousins and gestured at the classroom. Seeing this, the Zhou cousins gulped down their saliva as they still haven’t really shook off the surprise they had gotten from Da Wei and strode inwards.
Da Wei as well, retracted his fist and took a final glance at the back of the neatly attired teenager who easily blocked his attack before leaving.
No one uttered a single sound, all of them made their way back to each of their respective seats because they saw their teacher entering the room.
As the trio passed by Li Feng’s seat, the gentle looking teenager and Li Feng shared a glance before retracting their gazes. It turns out that their seats were placed neared Li Feng.
’It seems like this school has hidden tigers and dragons[ 3 ].. The world is full of surprises keke.. Da Wei and what was his name.. Ah! Qing Yun Feng.. School does not seem that boring anymore huehuehue…’ Li Feng started to leak out a dark aura, causing the students that sat around him to break out in goosebumps.
Both Da Wei and Qing Yun Feng felt a tingle in their spines and sneezed simultaneously in two different locations..
“Shit, is someone talking shit about me?” Da Wei cursed as he kicked the urinal.
“…” Qing Yun Feng curled up into a quivering ball in his seat as he felt a weird chill seeping into his body causing his classmate that shared the same desk to scoot over in fear.

Jumping into the yellow river – A common phrase that meant no matter what one does, will not cleanse him of his suspicions.
The yellow river is probably the name of a river in china if im not wrong but im not sure why they used the yellow river in this phrase :/
[ 2 ]
Veil between them being tore apart – This was a phrase that I changed. It should have been Si Po Lian Pi which directly translates to Tearing the skin off the faces or Skin torned off the faces, either way sounds straight up weird so I used a veil instead.
Si Po Lian Pi should mean two sides, should it be between two or more people falling apart. As face – Lian can be interpreted to respect or honor in Chinese. While the Veil or Skin – Pi should be interpreted as the wall dividing both opposing sides, once that wall is removed, there is nothing to stop both sides from clashing
[ 3 ]
Hidden tigers and dragons – Pretty much means that there are people who had hidden their talents and skills or something similar as dragons and tigers are animals / beasts that are perceived to be very strong.
It should have been Wo Hu Cang Long which translates to Crouching Tigers and Hidden Dragons but it just sounds weird so I just wrote hidden tigers and dragons instead
