The Army

A black raven flies above the city of Pakkaheim. As it caws Cadmus looks up to remember his brothers and sisters, where are they? Did they find anything yet? Perhaps he should return, but it is just too dangerous right now. He sighs and leans against the wall of an inn watching the entrance. It has been a week since he took Nerys to her first hunt, this is her second time killing a monster alone.

The beast screams out in agony as another cut appears on it's body. Nerys swinging her sword in a calm and collected manner. She knows when to step back and let the monster tire itself out. When it launches the attack her she just barely dodges out of the way and stabs the monster through it's chest. It drops to the floor as she pulls her sword out with a satisfaction in her eyes. She cuts it's head off and straps it to her trusty steed.

"Another one done girl, let's go home." She jumps on the horse and walks to the main road. She looks to the side and sees the dark spiral above another town, she feels the darkness coming from it, calling her. She scoffs and makes her way back to the city. As she approaches the gates the guards look with a respect in their eyes, but not because she is the princess of a lost land, but because of her taking care of several monsters endangering the city's surroundings. She sees Cadmus outside the tavern, she gets off her horse and takes the head of the monster. As she looks at Cadmus she notices something... different.

His eyes were all white and his skin was getting paler by each second. She dropped the head as she walked in his direction, she drew her sword as Cadmus looks in confusion. The girl charges at him with fiery passion. He draws his blade and parries her furious and sudden attack. He disarms her with ease as she looks him in the eyes.

"I shall take your darkness and leave you blind in the light!" She screamed as he slapped her lightly to snap her back into reality. The girl drops to the ground as she slowly looks up to Cadmus.

"Cadmus i-" Nerys tries to speak but starts coughing and shaking. Cadmus sits her up as a crowd surrounds them. He puts his hand on her forehead.

"Sohr tehr elvand." He speaks as he closes his eyes and focuses. Only to open his eyes and gasp

"Nerys! This is impossible, what happened to you?!" He yells at her as she is slowly drifting to sleep. He picks her up and rushes to the place they stayed at, the roomkeeper runs with him from the crowd and guides him upstairs. He puts her down as the keeper is standing by the door, her one eye tracing back and forth between Cadmus and Nerys.

"I will call the doctor if you need it!"

"No, that is not necessary thank you!" Cadmus replied to the keeper, he gets from herbals out from his satchel and puts them in a bowl then lits them up and puts the smoking herb next to Nerys.

Meanwhile Eldi is watching over a village that is on fire. People screaming, buildings collapsing. He looks displeased with his arms crossed. Vindur walks up to him as he looks at him in anticipation.

"Do you know something?"

"I sure do Eldi, we know where the dragon is."

"Well? Where is it?" Eldi asks in anger.

"It is with... with someone you might know lord. They are in the snowlands."

"Hmph. I know who it is with already." Eldi thinks deeply as he sees an army approaching waving the flag of Sverdsin.

"Looks like they want retaliation lord!" Vindur chuckles as the brave warriors scream with their weapons in their hands. Eldi disappears into the air as the warriors rush to the village in destruction.

Vatn turns around and looks at the army that stands before him. He smiles and puts his arms up towards the sky as it gets darker from the storm clouds covering all light. The warriors laugh and charge her. The ones behind stop rather quickly as they notice the ones in front of the smaller army light up in flames. One of the warriors stops and looks around him only to see the shadows around him light up in flames, yet he is not burning. As he looks at his comrades and sees the fear in their eyes his legs start to be engulfed in flames. He looks down and sceams in pain as the fire immediately covers his entire body.

The soldiers look around to see the enemy, but the only thing they see is each of them lighting up in flames and burning to ashes within a mere minute. Some of them stand proudly though, they band together. There is only a handful of them, around twenty. Eldi materializes in front of them.

"Forward! There is the bastard!" They all turn towards him as he spreads his arm waiting for them to attack.

He summons his spear/axe and as they charge him he dashes next to one of them and cuts his head off, he jumps towards the next one and stabs through their body. He slashes from left to right seemingly appearing and disappearing while killing everyone he can. The soldiers stood no chance against his lust for blood. As he kills almost everyone he leaves the last one alive and appears in front of him.

"Do you want to know why you didn't die by the fire?" The man drops to his knees and begs to live. He cries and screams as his last bit of hope left him as his brothers and sisters in arms all died in a matter of minutes. He looks up at Eldi as tears stop pouring from his eyes. His face shows anger and he clenches the dirt. Eldi crouches down in front of him.

"Because you were too weak." The man's skin starts blistering as the sentence leaves Eldi's mouth. He crawls towards Eldi as his body starts smoking. He screams out in pain and anger. As his scream echoed through the valley the flames drowned him as he dropped to the floor and turned to ashes seconds later.

"Shall we go, Lord?" Asks Vindur with a sinister tone.

Eldi smiles as his eyes are now filled with satisfaction. He stands up and walks away from the small village.

Meanwhile at night Nerys wakes up in her bed. She looks around, Cadmus is sleeping on a chair. She still feels weak, but she feels an incredible thirst for something. She walks out the door only to notice the place being awfully quiet. She walks down the stairs and walks out the front door. She takes a deep breath and a sudden energy feeds her. She looks towards a house that has lights on. She walks towards it with a menacing look on her face. She peeks in the window to see a man sitting on the side of his bed holding a flower. The man looks up and sees her, he is startled for a second, but closes his eyes and sighs.

"I guess that blind old fool was right huh?" Nerys looks surprised and asks the man what does he mean.

"A blind old man yesterday told me i shall be enlightened by the darkness of the night. You kill monsters and all sorts of monstrosities. I saw that Hunter you are with, if you are not the embodiment of light that is in darkness nothing is. Well, what will it be? Hunter?" He asks Nerys as she walks towards him.

She feels the familiar pull that she cannot fight this time. She feels an urge. She puts her hand on the man's shoulder as he looks in confusion. Nerys' eyes become all black as she leans towards his ear. He gasps as the life leaves his body slowly.

"I am not a hunter, i am the one they are supposed to hunt." With that the man tried to scream out in pain, but looked unable to. His skin turned pale and his body became skin and bones. She let him go as he dropped on his back on the bed. Nerys falls on one of her knees as she looks down. She opens her eyes only for tears to fall from her eyes. Black tears. She saw all the memories of the man, all the sadness and despair. The darkness that swallowed his heart. She looks up at his corpse.

"You've lost... everyone... your wife and all your kids to monsters. Yet you still believed in the Hunters?" Nerys stands up and walks out of the house and looks back once more only to walk into the alleyway feelings stronger than ever, she drifts into the darkness of the night.
