Re: Ascension Rebirth – Convening for war preparations
Chapter XXIII
PART ONE
[Eternum Calendar - Year 990]
“Deb…orah… why are you…”
[Lilith’s] immediate reaction as she saw the silver haired woman was fright followed an expression of guilt. It wasn’t hard to read from both their body language that they’ve had some sort of past together and that most likely that relationship ended the moment Lilith ran away from the capital.
“I was sent to retrieve Lord [Morgant Fallon]. I didn’t come for you. Who would…”
Replying in a harsh tone, [Deborah] averts her gaze.
There was a bit of awkward moment between the two so I decided to cut in to put their little reunion on hold.
“Lilith I’ll be going to the capital for a bit, what do you want to do? If you want you can just stay here if you dislike the idea of going back.”
She pauses and thinks for a bit but shakes off her anxiety to answer.
“… I’ll return with you, Lord Morgant.”
“Is that so? I guess it’s fine either way.’
I reply half-heartedly; I don’t know what happened to her to have run away from the capital though I could take a guess, but the sooner she faces her problems the better, but if she wasn’t ready to then staying here was also a good idea. That’s why it was fine either way she went back to the capital with me or not.
Having solved that minor matter we got onto the horse-driven carriage and departed immediately. It took nearly 3 days on carriage, and knowing how much I hated these wooden boxes it was the worst experience I’ve felt in a long time.
* * *
The [Vertloch Skyreach], otherwise known as the [Demon Lord’s Sanctuary], or simply [Sanctuary], was the place which the overseer of all demons, the [Demon Lord Astaroth De Signa] resided. Heart of the [Vertloch] continent, this massive city was shrouded forever in a perpetual night under the ever-watchful eye of the giant red moon.
However noticeable it was, this place wasn’t known merely for the night, the placed was named ‘skyreach’ for a reason. The buildings were unlike anything seen in this world, designed so differently that rather than a difference in culture, it would be much more apt to call it an ‘alien’ architecture. Tall and shadowy; as once did the Tower of Babylon, skyscrapers made of black concrete and steel reached high up to the sky as though to challenge the gods
The walls surrounding the city were tall but the buildings stood way above, casting a dark shadow even in the night over the area around the city. This city was oddly technologically superior in terms of building architecture when compared to the rest of civilizations that existed in [Eternis], the reason for this was unknown but many speculate that it was the work of one of the ancient Demon lords.
Even amongst the tall figures of the city, at the center was a single building that surpassed all others in terms of design and height. Much thick, much taller, with splendid décor and a orient design, was the building hailed as the [Sanctuary].
Though I must admit, it was extremely impressive to find such a city of this magnitude in this era, but compared to my own city, it was merely a miniscule imitation. Even the smallest of skyscrapers in that era would dwarf the demon lord’s Sanctuary, but I suppose it wouldn’t be fair to compare when one had a large technological advantage over the other.
The culture of this city was vaguely oriental; an odd mixture of ancient Chinese, Japanese and Korean style. The smaller buildings and apartment complexes were certainly made after such a style, with numerous streetlamps made with red magic illumination stones making it appears as though they were paper lamps. The eerie red glow of the bright red moon only accentuated the ghastly atmosphere of this place, but for whatever reason I did not hate it, rather it felt rather soothing to be here.
The residents all consisted of various beings from the [demon] races, but compared to what I had initially thought about them, they were much weaker, with their median level barely reaching the early twenties. Still, even in this kind of dreary looking place the residents all looked rather satisfied with their life here, I didn’t take Astaroth for that good of a ruler from her ‘free spirited’ nature but I guess I was wrong.
The people who lived here stared in awe as our carriage drove past them and straight up towards the Sanctuary. At first I wondered what was so special about our carriage that they were staring so intently but then I realized how ornate this vehicle actually was compared to the average ones that drove past.
Of course if you see such an ornate looking carriage you’d think someone important was riding in it, though those kinds of stares was something I was already used to back in my previous life.
We were lead to the main entrance of the Sanctuary, there two soldiers who were adorned in expensive looking, full body plate armor stopped us in our tracks. One of them drew their weapons and awaited in position while the other one knocked on our carriage doors.
Deciding that we didn’t want any trouble we complied with the wishes of the guards and exited the transport. When the guards took one look at Deborah he took a step back as if to suggest he made a mistake in not recognizing the passenger.
“So it was you, miss Deborah. My apologies I did not know you would be coming today.”
She gave a light nod.
“If that’s all then we’d like entrance the Sanctuary now.”
The solider took a glance at Lilith and myself. Lilith had decided that before coming back to the capital that she wanted to hide herself wearing a full body cloak. Due to this the guards were unable to identify the princess of this very city at first glance and only registered as a ‘suspicious person’.
“Once again I apologize, but children and unregistered personnel are forbidden from entering the Sanctuary.”
“He was summoned by Lord Astaroth herself.”
Deborah tried to justify my being here but the guards simply looked at each other and weren’t convinced. The guards were level 28 each so I could easily take them on to prove my strength though that was just a passing thought. After all I preferred a much more diplomatic approach.
“Unfortunately without proper identification we cannot let in strangers.”
“Very well, would this change your mind I wonder?”
I pulled up my right sleeve and concentrated a bit of my powers towards my hand. A small red magic circle appeared and as the guards saw this they instantly recognized what this meant and bowed before me. [Crest of the Demon Lord], the one I received many years ago from Astaroth herself.
“A- a Demon General?! We deeply apologize we did not recognize you!”
I raised my hand to calm them down.
“It’s fine, so can I get in now?”
“Y- yes of course!”
They fumbled a bit but lowered the wooden doors for me to enter. They didn’t even ask to verify Lilith’s identity, it wasn’t a problem now but this kind of security had me a bit worried.
PART TWO
The interior design of the top most floors of the Sanctuary really had an authentic oriental feel with the wooden sliding doors and the tatami-styled floorboards. Even the walls were decorated with cherry blossom pedal pattern wallpapers. At the top of this building, the highest floor was a single large room that spanned nearly 50 meters in diameter with windows along the walls that let in the red hue of the moonlight.
This was the Demon Lord’s throne room.
But to enter this place one had to go through a large, double sided iron door. With ghastly decorations that really fit the theme of the demons, but the imagery of the demonic, evil, maliciousness of the demon lord really falls apart once you’re on the inside of this party.
There were always neatly dressed servants awaiting in front of the throne room in case the demon lord needed something but other than that it seems that no one else aside from the demon lord, her aide and the demon generals were permitted to enter.
“Then we shall await for you outside.”
Deborah told me.
“That’s fine but, isn’t it fine for Lilith to enter since she’s also royalty?”
“Well… I do believe she is permitted to enter but… ”
Deborah looks towards Lilith while she averts her gaze.
“N- no… I think I’ll stay here if that’s okay with you, Lord Morgant.”
“I don’t particularly mind. Then I’ll be back.”
I tell them as the servants open the large iron door for me to enter. As I enter I see a gloriously large room, kept lit by several white magic stones with just enough light as to not ruin the atmosphere of the night but enough to be able to properly operate in such darkness.
At the far end of the room was a small cushioned throne, and sitting atop of it was a small girl with blazing red hair and eyes, the one who stole my first kiss of this world. Well it wasn’t that I particularly cared but that was a hell of a first impression so it kind of stuck. She rested against her arms and had a small smirk as she saw me entering the room, I could tell even at this distance that she was relatively excited.
This small girl was the demon lord, Astaroth De Signa.
Besides here was a familiar masked man oozing elegance from his pressure alone. Tall and slender but not without hints of muscle and power behind his attire; everything from the way he stood, breathed and acted told much of his magnificence however not enough to overshadow the demon lord who sat beside him.
He smiled at me as he saw me walk through the large iron doors, or at least it felt like he did, due to his mask his face was obviously hidden but I could still somehow tell just by the pressure in the air.
[[Mental Fortress] has gained (1) Level]
A small interface box appeared as I endured that pressure in my head, but I quickly dismissed it.
I walked up the expensive and neatly lined red carpet and stood a few meters before a large throne. It certainly felt like something out of an RPG with the layout of this room but the rest of the city seemed a little high-tech that it was somehow off putting, well no matter.
I knelt down with my right arm on my chest for a greeting. I’m not entirely sure how nobles do their greetings in this world because I’ve never really seen it myself, even during my time at the capital of North Ariadyne it was a little hectic that I didn’t get much chance to observe the customs. So my current actions were something that I saw out of an old movie but by the reactions given by Astaroth and Kyrios they didn’t seem to mind.
“I have come, Lord Astaroth. I apologize for not having visited sooner, there were a few… complications on my end.”
I greeted and apologized.
“Morgant! It’s fine, it’s fine. I know it must’ve been hard for you as well. But I think it’s fine for you to just call me ‘Astaroth’, it feels weird to have you calling me ‘Lord’.”
She replies with an excited and innocent smile, to think she has such a frightening title like ‘demon lord’ was almost unthinkable. I’ve always just called her by name in my mind so I didn’t really mind but it might make it seem as though we’re closer than we seem from an outsider’s perspective. Ah hell, I’m only ten so no one would care right?
“Really, it is pretty nice to see a familiar face once more.”
She nods her head with glee.
“It’s nice to see that you’ve overcome your sadness, but I kind of feel sorry for not having told you what exactly would happen. For that I’m very sorry.”
I averted my gaze from her, honestly I did think that it was a little bad of her to not have warned me but ultimately I decided to let it go with a sigh. I couldn’t hold a grudge against someone who was trying to help me, and in the end due to her words I was able to overcome my grief.
“You don’t have anything to feel sorry for, in the end you decided to tell me only enough information so that I would overcome my tragedy afterwards. I understand that even if you had told me exactly what would’ve happened there was nothing I could’ve done.”
That too was demonstrated well with my insufficient power when I did meet [Nodens]. Regardless of whether or not she told me what was going to happen, it would’ve ended up the same way.
“I see… you’re very kind aren’t you, Morgant.”
She tells me with a uneasy smile, but I shook my head.
“I may be a lot of things but ‘kind’ probably isn’t one of them.”
“You don’t have to sell yourself short, you’re very kind towards those who are under your care and those who have gained your trust. That’s why I like you.”
If I didn’t know any better that may have sounded like a confession but in this context it probably wasn’t one. I wonder how old she really is, I mean she has a child that’s as big as Lilith so I guess she isn’t a child but still. The ages of beings in this world are confusing to guess.
“I’ll take it as a compliment then.”
She nods.
“But really, you’ve grown a lot since we first met and the aura around has certainly changed. Maturity? No, you were plenty mature by the time we first met, this kind of change might even be called a miracle.”
That’s right, when we first met I was still level 1, currently I was level 67 so of course I felt a lot different from back then. Sometimes the amount of progress I’ve had since then amazes even myself, though I can’t take all the credit there has a been a lot of help after all.
“Yes, I’ve certainly improved a great amount since then, but my goal is still a lot further on ahead.”
“I see.”
She probably understands what my goal is without even having been said.
“… Yes.”
That was the only thing I could say.
“A- anyway it seems you’ve already met my daughter.”
She tries to change the topic, but how should I say this… ‘out of the pan and into the fire’? I mean what parent would be happy about the fact that their daughter has become a slave to someone else?
“Ah… yes. Sorry.”
I apologized.
“Hmm? What for?”
She asks as though she was oblivious to what was going on. Don’t tell me she doesn’t know that I’ve turned her into my slave? Do I tell her?
“About that… I kind of used a… [Soul binding stone]… so…”
She tilts her head in confusion.
“I already knew that, but why do you have to apologize for it?”
“Eh? Why? Isn’t it obvious? Because I robbed your daughter of her freedom. You can’t possibly be happy about that.”
“Hmm, well I guess I wouldn’t describe the feelings as ‘happiness’ per se, but it’s not like I’m unhappy about it either. That girl has always been a bit clumsy and unreliable, I’m almost glad that she was able to find someone like you to serve and be looked after. Besides the choice to become your servant was hers and I will respect that decision.”
Ah, so Astaroth was this kind of person. Kind and venerable, her presence is like almost like a light, I can see now why the people who live under her rule were so living with such satisfaction. If only I could’ve said the same about myself during the height of my own rule, but that’s all in the past now.
Perhaps I was more fitted for the title of ‘demon lord’ than she was.
“You said I was kind, but I think you’re the one who’s most kind.”
I joked and she giggles back like a elementary school student.
“Now, now. You don’t have to tease me like that. So then, it’s not that I mind, I’m glad to see you’ve been well but was that all you were here for? Or did you have another business in mind?”
…?
“Hmm? I came here to answer your summon, Astaroth.”
She tilts her head once more.
“…? I never summoned you, I was hoping you would come to me of your own accord.”
“… No but…”
If she didn’t call me then who? As though electricity had pulsed through my brain a thought came to my head, about what this was all about. With a stern expression I turned my gaze away from Astaroth and towards Kyrios and he also probably had the same expression as he looked towards me.
“Could it be? It can’t be…”
I uttered and Kyrios nod.
“No, you’re probably right. I can only think of that myself.”
He answers in a serious and deeply contemplative tone, with Astaroth in the background looking kind of lost as to what was happening. She turned her gaze back and forth from Kyrios and myself with a slightly unsatisfied expression.
“What? What is it you two? Don’t leave me out!”
She says.
“We haven’t confirmed it yet but if we’re right then the other generals should be gathering soon, all except one. Actually aren’t you able to see through the future? Then you must’ve been aware of what’s to come.”
I ask her.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about but my ‘future sight’ ability isn’t something that conveniently all powerful. I can only see glimpses into the future and what I see isn’t up to me. I also need a direct eye contact so that puts a bit of limit on things as well. So what’s going on? Why would the other generals be coming?”
“Betrayal. I’m afraid that [Andras Silverfang] has betrayed us, Lord Astaroth.”
Kyrios answers and Astaroth calms down as she finally understands the situation. Right, it seems those rumors about the [werewolves] betraying the demon lord weren’t just rumors after all.
“But… how does that relate to the other generals coming back to this place?”
“If the rumors were true then the [werewolves] were once human. Then there’s only one person that they would turn to, to have their curse of [Lycanthropy] lifted. The heaven realm’s king, Nodens. General Andras would’ve sent her underlings to gather the other demon generals to this place so that Nodens can take us all out in one fell swoop.”
If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.
“I see…”
Astaroth has a truly serious expression on her face.
“But when will they come?”
“Probably after they’ve confirmed that all of the demon generals have gathered… wait, what about the civilians underneath? I thought I suggested to have them moved to a temporary location.”
I asked.
“We were going to do that but some complications came up so it was a little delayed.”
Kyrios answers.
“That’s no good, this place could become a battlefield at any moment, so have the civilians evacuate immediately, also it might be wise to detain all of the [werewolves], though I feel like that would be discrimination but it’s better to be safe than sorry.”
Kyrios nods as he disappears in a shadowy mist.
“B- but what if Nodens comes after them even after we lose?”
“Nodens’ prime objective would be to see the demon lord and her generals out of the picture. To be honest while I’m aware of his hatred for the [demon] race I’m not entirely sure about his objective.”
There is something else that comes to mind too. It was what I saw two years ago in the ruins of my village, a gigantic yellow crystal and to a lesser extent those crystalline zombies. Was there a point in creating those low tier undead? Even if they are nigh unkillable they aren’t exactly strong.
Astaroth claps and as she does the iron doors open and several servants come in. They all come and bow before her. She relays the same orders that I suggested to Kyrios and have the servants in this building aid the evacuation and then have them evacuate themselves after everything is over.
Hmm, I thought she might be a little useless as a ruler except for keeping the peace but she has some decisive moments of her own too. I’m actually quite impressed that she hasn’t freaked out and get lost on what needs to be done, it’s good that she has her priority straight. She’s also opted to stay in the throne room instead of heading out to help, a wise decision; she has her head in the right place.
She needs to be here when the other demon generals arrive after all and once they do arrive we need to prepare ourselves and strategize our next move.
PART THREE
[Astaroth De Signa. Level 145, Demon Lord].
[Kyrios. Level 139, Vampire Lord].
[Cedric. Level 124, Slime King]
[Ordwell Rommel. Level 137, Homunculus Fleet Admiral]
[Aer Atlas. Level 136, Grand Monarch]
[Morgant Fallon. Level 67. Necromancer]
[Texzatopekmetziluxotl. Level 142, Ghost King]
[Arachna. Level 134, Spider Queen]
[Lilith De Signa. Level 89, Succubus Princess]
* * *
[Ordwell Rommel], or as he wanted to be called, ‘Admiral Ordwell’, was the demon general in charge of our naval force. His hair was pure white, which was a sign that he was a [Homunculus], but other than that he had charismatic red eyes and a hawk like face which gave all of us a peace of mind just from staring at him. He wasn’t too bulky but he had noticeable muscle structure that wasn’t hidden in anyway by his white naval, admiral’s uniform. There were several impressive looking badges hung on his left breast pocket but whether they held any real significance or were just for decoration was unknown.
He had a friendly but stern atmosphere about him that just begged people to rely on him. Even our demon lord, Astaroth was no exception to his charisma.
[Aer Atlas], or simply referred to as ‘Aer’ by her wishes, was another bug-type demon that stems from the same vein as [Arachna]. Though Arachna was a spider type demon, Aer was a moth type demon. Her hair was an earthy grey color, though her sclera were a menacing black color with the pupils a light brown.
Around her neck was a fluffy white scarf-like clothing but it may have just been part of her body, just like how the small red beads on the side of Arachna’s hair are actually part of her body as well. On her back were long, slender moth-like wings and starting from her elbows her entire hand were painted black with sharp claws coming from the tip of her fingers. Her clothes were entire earthen in color, with grey being the most prominent.
When she first came into the room she gave me a bone chilling smile and ever since was staring at my direction, but I know for a fact that she wasn’t staring at me. The one she was really staring at was Arachna who stood behind me, even she was staring at Aer.
Anyone could tell that they had some sort of history together and considering that they were both high level bug-type demons I’m not surprised.
“My if it isn’t little Arachna. It’s been so long and you’ve grown so much~”
Aer says as she licks her lips in a seductive manner.
“Personally I don’t think enough time has time has passed between us, sister…”
Eh… ‘sisters’? but their biology are radically different... it might be best not to think too deeply about this.
“Now, don’t say that. We’re all family aren’t we?”
“I’m actually surprised that you can even stand here without irony even after all that you’ve done.”
“Fufufu~ well-“
“That’s enough you two. You can sort out your family problems later, we have an emergency on hand right now that we need to discuss.”
Astaroth broke up their argument with a stern voice, despite her small frame she could muster up a loud enough voice that echoed through the room with vigor.
“Andras hasn’t arrived yet, not that I mind starting off without her but isn’t that a little mean? What’s the emergency anyway?”
Aer asks, oblivious to the enter situation.
“Andras won’t be coming, she’s betrayed us.”
“What? Impossible…!”
Cedric bursts out in a surprised tone.
“I’m afraid it’s the true Cedric. According to Kyrios and Morgant it’s likely that she’s joined forces with the heaven realm and is on their way to assault the capital. We’ve sent some of our scouts to see what kind of military composition that they’re coming with so we’re waiting on them now.”
“So that’s why all of the people have been evacuated…”
Aer says in a contemplative tone.
* * *
Soon after the [vampire] scouts sent by Kyrios had return to us.
“The enemy’s forces number in the 500 000, but they’ve been split into 5 different teams consisting of 100 000 each. Their composition are [humans] from the Crimson Knights Order, [Angels] from heaven’s realm, and [werewolves] from Lord Andras’ faction. On top of that there were also four prominent targets, Lord Andras herself, the gods Nodens, Dagda and Dian Cecht. I’ve also spotted an odd, giant yellow crystal of unknown original or power.”
After giving us the report the [vampire] disappears.
“Dagda… and Dian Cecht.”
I mumbled under my voice. My knowledge on Celtic mythology was a little lacking but if memory served correct then Dagda was the god of war and Dian Cecht was supposed to be the god of healing and restoration.
“What’s wrong Morgant? Do you know something about them?”
Astaroth asks.
“Rather than what I know, don’t you have more information on them than me? If memory serves then heaven’s realm and demon legion had clashed before. If that were the case then surely these two other gods have also been seen before right?”
I reversed the question, without sufficient knowledge on them planning for their attack is difficult. For now the most important thing is to lay out all of the information we have. Astaroth gives me a nod and answers my questions.
“You’re right, those two gods, Dagda and Dian Cecht had also participated during our last war. If I had to describe them, Dagda is a ruthless fighter with seemingly infinite stamina, he fought for a month straight without needing to rest which resulted in the defeat of 4 of the previous generation’s demon generals.”
“You say 4, but how many demon generals were there during [Erendel’s] reign?”
I asked out of curiosity, but not just that, it was important to know and compare the strength of the previous demon legion and our current state.
“During my father’s reign there were 7 generals, it had only been a few decades since I took up the post so I had not had enough time to recruit more generals. However you’ve brought along a few more prominent figures so it could be that our current fighting strength is comparable to the previous generation.”
No, that’s too optimistic of a view. Erendel’s level alone was 165 and if we place Xotl’s level as the standard then our current forces are fairly gimped compared to the previous generation. Not to mention Nodens’ level alone was 192, I can only think that the two other gods are slightly weaker.
“I see, then what about the other god, Dian Cecht?”
“Dian Cecht never partook in direct combat so his true strength is unknown but over the course of a month he was able to wipe out an entire army of 500 000 on the demon legion and that was us barely keeping our casualties to a minimum thanks to our tactician at the time.”
The previous demon legion tactician, Arachna’s younger brother.
“What are our current forces like?”
I asked.
“If we’re talking about simple numbers then our forces number in 500 000 as well. We hadn’t had enough time to replenish our numbers after the last war.”
Kyrios answered for me.
“I see, so they’re taking advantage of that fact to attack now.”
“If they’ve split up their forces then we should match should also split our forces to cover more ground and slowly merge as we defeat the enemy.”
Cedric suggests.
Kyrios, Admiral Ordwell and I all shake our heads in disapproval.
“No, we if the enemy’s split their forces then we should keep our forces in unison and attack each of their separated armies one by one.”
I suggested.
“But doing that they could easily flank us.”
Cedric brings up.
“That’s fine, we have the home ground advantage and splitting up armies is a less efficient means of warfare, especially since we’ve already evacuated all the citizens our army can fight freely without worry.”
They’ve probably split up their army to cover more ground and move faster but since this is home ground for us we don’t need to split up. Furthermore Lanchester’s linear law means that a unified force can win a split up force since our rate of attrition will be slower.
In this case a denser military population will win.
Though to be fair I’m not entirely sure about relying on my previous world’s formulae since this world has the uncertain element of magic. To be completely honest though, the movement of each of our armies are just for show, the real clincher will be decided by the battle of the top ranking members.
The demon legion simply needs to stall for time until we can defeat the four prime targets of the enemy.
“If I may make a suggestion, the real battle will likely be decided by a show of power between us and them. The strength of our respective armies will be crushed when either their prominent combatants or our prime fighters loses, with that said I suggest a that our armies do not take part in this battle directly and just circle around the city and round up the enemy army into a single unified force as well.”
“Hmm, indeed if the enemy army is also balled up into a single force it will be easier to keep track of and lead around.”
Admiral Ordwell agrees with me.
“There is no objection from me either. The fighting between the armies will just result in needless casualties having them simply move around with only the pretext of a threat is the most efficient move for us.”
Kyrios nods his head.
“W- well if you guys think so then I don’t really have any objections.”
Astaroth says in a rather dissatisfied tone, she’s probably feeling a bit left out. It really was like how Enrich said when the only people with strong analytical and strategic minds were Kyrios, Admiral Ordwell, Enrich and myself. That being said I feel like Enrich should’ve been a part of this conversation, but then again his specialty lies with negotiations and politics and not warfare.
“So then the real problem boggles down to the fight between Nodens, Dagda, Dian Cecht and Andras…”
Admiral Ordwell says.
“Then I’ll fight Andras…”
Cedric volunteers.
“You and that girl? Not trying to be presumptuous but I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
Aer objects. From that and the way Cedric acted before it was obvious that something was going on between him and Andras, so Aer’s objection is also to be considered. Logically speaking, Andras is probably the weakest one amongst them so it wouldn’t be efficient for Cedric to fight them.
“Cedric I agree with Aer. Your special ability means that you have complete resistance to physical attack, that means it would be wiser for you to fight Dagda instead. Lilith and I are the weakest so we’ll be the ones to face Andras.”
“… I understand.”
He gives a weak nod, I feel sorry for him but we need to put aside our emotions if we want to win this. This leaves quite a bit of options, but the problem is which target we want to focus. No matter how I think about it the most problematic one would be Dagda with his nigh infinite stamina, then it might be a better idea to have those who can survive long enough fight him.
We don’t need to be victorious with Dagda; theoretically speaking, if we can beat Nodens and Dian Cecht we can converge our forces to fight off Dagda. Of course I have serious doubts that can go as smoothly as I plan. In the worst case scenario I could use the GUNGNIR, no, most likely I will have to use it as some point in this battle. The key is when to use it, I guess I’ll have to peel my eyes open for a chance.
“For Dagda I think it would be best if Xotl and Cedric stalled him out.”
I suggested, to which Admiral Ordwell and Kyrios contemplated other options but in the end that was the best idea we could come up with.
“Hmm… It seems that may be the only option. A battle of attrition against a target with infinite stamina might not be the best idea but until the others can have a chance to win it might be our only choice.”
Admiral Ordwell comments.
“Hmm, as for Nodens it would most likely be best if Lord Astaroth, Admiral Ordwell and myself were to face him. His power is the greatest amongst them so at least this amount of power should be necessary.”
Kyrios suggests.
“I have no objections.”
Astaroth agrees and Admiral Ordwell nods too.
“I see, then my dear younger sister and I will be the one to fight the one known as Dian Cecht then.”
Aer says with a smile, though Arachna looked a little less happy about it she ultimately agreed to do so as well.
Afterwards we talked over about our plans and what we wanted each to do specifically. The discussion took over 3 hours but in the end we decided on a solid plan and informed each of our subordinates the plan as well.
In just a few hours this tranquil night city was about to be turned into a warzone. When I asked Astaroth if that was okay she replied with ‘buildings can be repaired, but we need to win so we can repair them’. Honestly it was just the kind of thing she would say.
War was about to start.
Morgant Fallon, age 10, experiencing war for the first time in this world. It may be a little ironic since [Mobius] also created weaponry for warfare, but I felt a little anxious inside.
Everyone had left the throne room to prepare on their own and I was now left alone with Astaroth with only the large red moon as the witness to our conversation.
“Are you sure you want to do this, Morgant? No one will blame you if you went with the other civilians.”
Astaroth asked me with a clearly worried face. I gave a wry smile as I answered.
“Yes, I’ll stay here. After all, without me this entire war would only result in failure.”
