Miguel took a moment, his gaze darting between the assembled group. “I want to return to America; I want a new identity; I want full immunity from all of my previous crimes; and I want custody of my son,” he enumerated, each demand punctuated with a hint of desperation.
Jack leaned even closer, determination hardening his features. “You give us Stallone, and we’ll give you whatever you want,” he asserted.
Jack extended a firm hand to Miguel, helping him rise from the cold, hard floor. Miguel accepted the gesture, using Jack's grip to pull himself upright. He brushed off his pants and walked purposefully over to his cluttered desk, where various maps and notes were strewn about. With a deliberate motion, he pointed to a specific spot on the map labeled No Man's Land.
“There. That is the spot where you will find Stallone,” Miguel declared with a sense of certainty.
Jack leaned in closer, scrutinizing the location Miguel had indicated. His brow furrowed as he probed, “What makes you so confident he would be there?”
Miguel’s voice took on a more serious tone as he explained, “He has a secluded hideout there where he often goes to relax and unwind. It’s a little-known place, shared only between him and Harrison. To my knowledge, even the masked guy doesn’t have a clue about it.”
Jack nodded, correcting him, “You mean Crow, right?”
Miguel looked puzzled for a moment. "What?"
Jack clarified, “I’m talking about the guy in the white mask.”
“Yeah, that guy,” Miguel acknowledged, the gears in his mind turning. “Anyway, back to business—this is one hundred percent where you’ll find Stallone.”
Before Jack could respond, Troy chimed in from the side, a hint of skepticism in his voice. “And if he isn't there?”
Miguel’s expression grew more serious, and he gestured toward a distant, shadowy structure looming in the background. “If he’s not in No Man's Land, then you’ll likely find him here.” He pointed to an abandoned factory nestled in the gritty expanse of District Eight. “That’s where the Jackels operate out of. It’s one of the two main locations he frequents, but I assure you, this is where he will be.”
Jack exchanged glances with Troy, both men absorbing the information. “We appreciate the intelligence, but there's something we need to make clear—you will be coming with us,” Jack stated, his tone firm yet fair.
Miguel's eyes widened slightly in surprise. “What for? I've already given you everything you asked for.”
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
“It’s simply a precaution,” Jack explained calmly. “We wouldn’t want you to bolt the moment we act on your information."
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Miguel sighed but ultimately complied, placing his arms behind his head in surrender. Anakin stepped forward to cuff him, the metallic clink of the handcuffs echoing slightly in the otherwise quiet room.
Once Miguel was secured, Jack reached for the radio, attempting to establish contact with their extraction point, Killgrave. However, a troubling wave of static fizzled through the device, hinting at a distorted connection. Frustrated but undeterred, Jack made a quick decision to signal for a helicopter extraction, knowing time was of the essence and that they needed to act swiftly.
The pilot explained that he would be arriving shortly and to be ready, as once the chopper lands, GMs are going to be hurrying towards them.
Minutes would pass, and the team could hear the helicopter approaching them. The helicopter landed, and in the distance, the ear-shattering sound of a GM screaming was heard. Jack ordered everyone to get inside the chopper.
As everyone climbed on board, the GMs were approaching. Jack was the last to climb inside and told the pilot to take off, but there was an issue.
Because of the noise being generated from the helicopter, it attracted a GM Hunter who made a lightning-fast dive for the helicopter. As the helicopter was mid-takeoff, the hunter grabbed Miguel’s right leg and started pulling him out of the helicopter.
Jack, Anakin, Asuka, and Kairi grabbed onto Miguel and tried their hardest to keep him inside the helicopter while Ellie and Troy used the helicopter's machine guns to take care of any surrounding GMs.
The grip on Miguel was getting tougher and tougher until the inevitable happened.
The strength of the GM Hunter was enough to rip Miguel out of Jack, Anakin, Asuka, and Kairi’s hands. All they could do was watch as Miguel slowly plummeted to the floor. The loud screams coming from Miguel were enough for Anakin to look away; he couldn't bear watching the GMs savagely mutilate Miguel’s body.
Now out of No Man's Land, Jack got in coms with Killgrave.
"Killgrave?!"
“Crawford!? It’s good to hear your voice. Our search went cold. Miguel wasn’t here, only some Jackel soldiers. What about you? How’s your search going?”
“It’s a long story. We're en route back to HQ. I suggest you come back."
The link between the two ended once Jack finished speaking.
Back at HQ, Jack started recapping the events that had transpired: “We found Miguel alive. He gave us two key pieces of intel. The first was the location where Stallone hides out."
Jack displayed a map of No Man’s Land and pointed at the same location that Miguel showed him before continuing.
“This is where my team will go. The second piece of intel he gave us was the location of the Jackel HQ.” This time Jack pointed at the building in district eight that Miguel gave him.
“And this is where I would like your squad to go to Killgrave.”
"Alright, but one question. How do we know that Stallone will be at one of those locations? How do we know that Miguel isn’t lying to us and is planning on escaping?”
“He said that these two locations are the most frequent locations that Stallone goes to. As for if Miguel’s planning on escaping, he can't.”
“Why?” Killgrave asked.
Jack took a deep breath before telling Killgrave, “He died. We tried to save and extract him, but a GM Hunter pulled him out of the helicopter; once out of the helicopter, he was torn to pieces by GMs.”
“Fuck. That's one brutal way to go.”
Silence fell once Jack told Killgrave the news on Miguel. The focus quickly shifted back to the main goal.
Jack the conversation finished by saying, “We have one shot at this. Gear up people we leave in two hours.”
