"Jack? Jack, do you read me?"
"I read you, Ellie. What's going on?"
"Scanners are picking up a major swarm of GMs approaching your area. I'll keep you updated on how long you've got until they arrive."
"Thanks, Ellie; make sure you're ready with the minigun, as I have a feeling that we're going to be fighting our way out of here."
Jack hurried over to the sergeant, trying to remain calm despite the urgency of the situation, and requested a private conversation. The sergeant, visibly hesitant, reluctantly agreed, and the two entered one of the few intact classrooms.
"Sergeant, I have received word from my team that a swarm of GMs has been detected and is approaching our location. I would like to ask that your squad evacuate the area."
Killgrave's lips curled into a sly smile. "Not happening. With all due respect, kid. You don't have the right to ask me or my men what to do. We've seen far more action in our lives than you." “Jack? Jack, do you read me?”
“I read you, Ellie. What's going on?”
“Scanners are picking up a major swarm of GMs approaching your area. I'll keep you updated on how long you've got until they arrive.”
“Thanks, Ellie; make sure you're ready with the minigun, as I have a feeling that we’re going to be fighting our way out of here.”
Jack walked to the sergeant and asked to speak to him privately. The sergeant was reluctant but knew he did have a choice. The two entered one of the classrooms that wasn't torn to pieces.
“Sergent, I have received word from my team that a swarm of GMs has been detected and is approaching our location. I would like to ask that your squad evacuate the area.”
Killgrave smiled. “Not happing. With all due respect, kid. You don't have the right to ask me or my men what to do. We've seen far more action in our lives than you.”
“Okay. You‘re right, I haven't seen more action than you, but I have died and come back to life. I’ve been face-to-face with our greatest enemy multiple times; hell, I lost my damm brother, and I’m still standing.”
“But you’ve not descended to madness, have you? You’ve still got your squad in one piece. You haven't been ordered to shoot a fellow American in the back of the head just because he went awol! You weren’t part of Operation Bloodcrave”

The two looked each other in the eyes; no one knew what to say next. On the one hand, Kyle was right; Jack hadn't fought in the wars that Kyle was in. He hasn’t been given the order to kill one of his own. Whereas Kyle had only been in contact with Jackel soldiers and GMs, he’d never been face-to-face with the Crow or Stallone.
The door to the classroom creaked open as a member of Kyle’s squad cautiously entered. "I just thought you should know that we can hear everything that’s going on from the atrium. Is everything alright, sergeant?"
Killgrave instructed his lieutenant to swiftly organize defensive positions as they anticipated an imminent attack by a swarm of GMs. The lieutenant wasted no time in relaying the urgent message to the rest of the squad, rallying them to prepare for the impending assault. Kyle exchanged a determined glance with Jack and entrusted him with the crucial task of tending to the injured soldiers.
Before the two joined back their respective groups Killgrave gave Jack a keycard and told him that he would need it to enter the basement. Jack swiftly rejoined his group and delivered a comprehensive briefing on the gravity of the situation. He outlined their mission: to ensure the safe evacuation of the injured from the university premises.
With a sense of urgency, everyone sprang into action, strategically placing boxes next to the door, carefully planting claymores in the hallway, and meticulously checking their ammunition supplies to ensure they could withstand the onslaught of GMs.
“Ellie. How’s it looking? ”
“You’ve got less than five minutes. Jack, your father is calling you; I'll pass him on to you.”
“Jack? What’s the situation? ”
“We’ve met up with Sergeant Killgrave, and we’re instructed to evacuate the injured soldiers while the sergeant and his team hold off the swarm of GMs.”
“Good. Take it easy on Killgrave. He’s one tough son of a bitch.”
In the background of the conversation, Killgrave yells out to Jack, “Oi Crawford! Get your ass over here!”
Jack ended his conversation with his father, rejoined Killgrave, took his position at the door, and drew out his energy sword and his handgun.
The atmosphere was thick with tension as the soldiers, their faces taut with anxiety, nervously fidgeted with their gear. Their hands trembled as they awaited the impending breach of the door, knowing that the GMs would soon storm into the university.
Outside, the sound of the minigun opening fire on the GMs could be heard inside the university, giving the impression that the GMs were about to burst through the door any second.
Both doors flew open, and Killgrave yelled out at the top of his lungs to open fire. Everyone started unloading all of their ammo on the GMs. Explosions could be heard coming from the hallways, indicating that the GMs had entered the university from a different direction. This gave Jack and the rest of his team permission to start slicing GMs to black goo.
"Crawford! Get my injured men out of here! Take the basement; it has a secret exit that we use.” Killgrave yelled.
Jack decided to split his team up into two: Kairi and Asuka would be in charge of clearing a pathway to the basement, while Anakin, Jack, and Troy would watch over the injured.
