The weekend passed quickly as Ensen ran around to try to get everything prepared for the opening on Monday.
Luckily there were no major issues.
Ensen did think about heading to the library where he met the student that hadn’t contacted him yet but decided against it after thinking for a while.
Ensen laid in bed on Sunday night, excited for tomorrow.
Thinking over the main things that he had to do, Ensen needed to pick up the kids from the orphanage as well as to make sure everything would go smoothly.
While he did extend an invitation to his other faculty member Gerhardt, Ensen wasn’t too sure if he would be able to come since his world seemed pretty hectic.
Ensen tried his best to sleep but realized he couldn’t. Turning his attention to his phone, he decided to read a little of ‘The all-slaying dog’ before bed to distract his mind.
After reading for a bit Ensen managed to doze off.
Waking up to his alarm clock that he had set on his phone, Ensen quickly ended the alarm and stretched his arms. Looking at the time, Ensen had a little bit to get ready but not too much.
Knowing this, Ensen quickly got out of bed and went into his closet to pick out clothes that would suit his role.
Picking out a simple grey dress shirt with some jeans, Ensen quickly put them on as he thought ‘Well this is good I think, it’s too hot to wear a full suit. Only psychopaths would wear those now.’
After grabbing a quick snack from the kitchen, Ensen proceeded to head to his car while carrying the gift bags he had personally made to his students.
Before entering the car, Ensen decided to put all of the bags in the truck so the kids from the orphanage wouldn’t see them. Afterward, he entered the car. Ensen began to make his way over to the orphanage.
After a rather boring drive, he finally arrived out front. Getting out of the car slowly, Ensen approached the door while still feeling concerned about the appearance of the building.
Knocking on the door, Ensen quickly heard two shouts from behind the door as well as three pairs of footsteps quickly coming towards the door.
Taking a few steps back in concern, the door unexpectedly flung open. Looking at the culprit, Ensen was unsurprised when he saw Warren, the natural fighter looking at him with a wide smile.
‘I really hope he won’t hurt somebody doing that at school. I’ll need to educate him on that.’ Ensen thought as the remaining two students, Anabella and Stephen arrived.
Just like Ensen had thought, they were all wearing the clothes that they wore when they were interviewed a few days ago. While they could have been washed in that time it didn’t seem like it.
Nearly unable to wait to give them some new clothes, Ensen quickly greeted them “Hey everybody, are you guys all ready to get going? I need to be there a little earlier than usual today.”
“Of course we’re ready!” Warren shouted in excitement.
Stolen story; please report.
“That’s right, we can go now if you’d like,” Stephen said in a calm and composed voice.
Unlike the others, Anabella just softly nodded in agreement with the others.
“Okay, then one of you can sit in front and the rest in the back. How about you guys take turns?” Ensen said after a moment of consideration.
Upon hearing no disagreement, Ensen said calmly “Okay, then Warren will sit up front today.”
Nodding in agreement, the kids began walking towards the car as Ensen thought ‘That worked well. Hopefully, it will be a rather quiet drive to the school.’
But five minutes later he was proven wrong.
“West Virginia, country-” Warren said with a mixture of singing and shouting.
For some reason, most likely out of boredom Warren began singing to the songs on the radio. This was quite literally the opposite of what Ensen wanted to happen.
‘Well, I guess it’s not that bad. He really isn’t a shy guy huh?’ He thought as he looked in the mirror towards the back seat.
Anabella was reading a book that she had brought with her without paying any sort of attention to the others.
Stephen was acting slightly strange. He kept a rather neutral expression on his face but Ensen swore that Stephen’s foot was tapping to the beat and he was mouthing the words.
A few songs later they began pulling into the property. After a moment the building became visible and all of the students simply stared at it. Even Anabella looked up for the first time since they entered the car.
Feeling proud of their reactions, Ensen pulled into a parking space.
To the right of them a few spaces were a small van with the words ‘Jameson baking company’ written on the side.
‘Looks like they just arrived too.’ Ensen thought as he got out of the car.
Walking towards the trunk, his students soon exited the car and followed Ensen to the back.
“No peeking in the trunk, it’s a surprise,” Ensen said strictly as he grabbed the bags of gifts and began walking towards the entrance.
Noticing a middle-aged man standing in front of the door with a medium-sized white box in his hand, Ensen approached him and said happily “Oh thanks so much, I hope you weren’t waiting long.”
Reaching into his pocket, Ensen pulled out his wallet and handed the man a five-dollar tip and unlocked the door.
“I’ll take it from here. Thanks again.” Ensen said as he slowly grabbed the white box.
With his students following behind him, Ensen entered the building and said calmly “Wait here for just a moment, I need to do something real quick.”
A few moments later, Ensen headed towards the staff room to put the cake in the fridge for the moment as well as dropping off the gift bags on the couch.
After returning to the students, Ensen guided them to the cafeteria where there was a round table in the center of the room with 7 chairs surrounding it. The other tables were pushed to the edge of the room to make extra space.
“Okay, we will get started once your other two classmates arrive so just make yourself comfortable. I’ll be waiting outside for them so if you need anything just come ask.” Ensen spoke.
After hearing them approve Ensen slowly returned to the exterior of the front entrance and leaned against the wall beside the door casually.
Slowly closing his eyes, Ensen thought to himself ‘I wonder how Kaitlin’s meeting went. It seemed pretty serious. I should talk to her more next time I see her, or maybe just knock on her door. Although I’m not 100% sure that’s completely safe.’
After waiting for a few minutes, Ensen heard faint voices arguing in the distance.
“I told you it’s this place!”
“It can’t be this place, it looks too nice.”
“Doesn’t matter, this is the address. Let’s just go walk over and see.”
‘I really need like a natural stone sign that says ‘Evergreen Academy’ or something similar.’ Ensen thought. Although the name was written on the school building itself, it was not that visible and it was a little far from the road, so a sign at the road itself would be best.
Beginning to walk over to where Ensen could hear the arguing still continuing, Ensen soon saw exactly who he expected, Brian and Leah.
Unlike the students from the orphanage, they wore different clothes that seemed relatively clean.
They were still on the road leading to the Academy so they could not see the sign.
The siblings seemed so invested in their argument that they didn’t even notice when Ensen was just a few feet away.
Feeling slightly awkward, Ensen said “Umm…. this is the right place.”
Both of the siblings immediately jumped from the unexpected voice.
As they both registered what they were saying, Leah wore a satisfied smile whereas Brian slightly slouched in a defeated manner.
After speaking for a bit Ensen brought them to the school. Similar to the other students, they were immensely impressed by the schoolhouse. While there were more impressive school buildings out here, this was simply the first private Academy that they saw that wasn’t rundown.
Entering the building, Ensen led them to the cafeteria where the others were waiting.
Anabella was calmly sitting in a chair still reading the book from earlier whereas Warren was seemingly inspecting every inch of the room for… some reason.
Stephen on the other hand simply leaned on the table and looked up towards the ceiling with a bored expression.
Hearing the door open, they all shifted their gaze towards the sound when they saw two new faces they had never seen before entering.
Immediately realizing that they were the other students, everybody had different reactions.
As all of the students were looking at each other, Ensen spoke loudly “Alright everybody, take a seat and we will begin the opening of the school.”
