Ensen truly did love a more rustic, historical-looking building. However, he knew that it wouldn't be the best thing for a private academy. Because of this, Ensen had a big decision to make that would decide the aesthetics of the institution for the near future at the very least.
Ensen thought about all sorts of styles he could use to model the school building out of, but he still couldn't decide.
Unable to come to a decision, Ensen pulled out his phone and began researching individual architecture styles, as well as buildings using the style. He did his best to find examples of already existing school buildings using the corresponding design, but some did not have any available.
He looked at a significant number of examples from modern to Gothic, American to classical. While Ensen knew some styles were not suited for what he was thinking of, he still checked them out just to be safe.
Laying down his phone on the right side of the table, Ensen finally came to a decision after nearly an hour of research.
Ensen muttered under his breath "So modern, huh?"
Ensen chose a modern ascetic for a few reasons. Foremost he knew that a modern design would have a certain appeal to it. While the majority of private schools around had pretty old buildings using a different style, a modern structure would be a breath of fresh air. Especially considering the young students he would have. While he was sure that some would appreciate the style, the overwhelming majority would most likely prefer to have a modern stylized, up to date building.
While Ensen was not the biggest fan of more modern design, he was sure it would slowly grow on him until he loved it. After all, he was designing the building. If he didn't love it then it would be completely his fault.
Ensen began to slowly plot out the general layout of the building but was unsatisfied with his work halfway and crumpled the paper up, throwing it carelessly behind him.
Noticing it would take quite a bit of trial and error, Ensen grabbed his phone from the table and got up out of his seat to grab some more paper. Walking towards where he had got the paper previously, he picked up the remaining pieces of paper and looked at them. Noticing the lightweight of the stack of paper, he turned his gaze towards it and noticed there were only a few pieces of paper remaining.
Sighing lightly, Ensen knew he needed to go pick some up in order to keep working. While he could find an application on his phone to use to sketch out the layout, Ensen preferred paper as it gave him a better perspective. It would also take much longer to draw because of his inexperience with the application.
But still, Ensen really did not want to go out today. His discovery with the full functions of the system had lit a fire under him to design his school building as fast as he could. Thinking about his options, he realized he really only had two options. Either head to the store or use an application to continue.
Forcing himself to head to the store, he simply put on shoes. Before he left his apartment he checked his phone.
"Wait, it's 9 pm already?" Ensen said out loud, obviously taken off guard by his predicament.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
"Is the supply store even open at this point?" Ensen said downcast, not wanting to wait until tomorrow.
Turning his gaze back to his phone, Ensen began looking up various stationery stores nearby to try to find one still open. To his dismay, he realized that nearly all of them were closed at this time. More annoyingly, the open store still open was in the center of the bad part of town, seemingly mocking him.
Changing his thought process, Ensen knew that some supermarkets stocked paper although he didn't know which stores actually carried the item. Deciding to try his luck, Ensen had exited his apartment and began to turn around to close and lock his door before he paused.
With a new and possibly deadly idea in mind, Ensen finished locking his door before turning his gaze towards his neighbors Kaitlin's direction. Her door was pretty close to Ensen, and with only a few large steps he arrived in front of the door. While Ensen was still uncomfortable around her, he wasn't as scared anymore after their last encounter. She seemed to be opening up to him, or at least not as hostile as before at the very least.
Raising his hand, Ensen gently knocked on her door three times before patiently waiting for a response. He waited there for nearly 30 seconds before thinking to himself.
'Is she even home?' Ensen thought, beginning to feel awkward standing at her door for so long.
Thinking about returning to his previous plan, Ensen began to turn towards the direction of the elevator. Right as he turned he heard a quiet but audible noise from the direction of Kaitlin's door.
Turning his gaze back towards the door, Ensen felt somebody was watching him. Looking around the hallway, he soon noticed that an eye was staring at him through a small peephole.
Unsure just how long she was staring at him, he began feeling slightly unsettled inside of his mind. But he tried to shake it off and began speaking to her.
"Oh hey Kaitlin, do you mind if I borrow some paper?" Ensen said, trying to act as proper as possible. After all, he was getting increasingly intimidated by her.
Looking at the eye in the peephole, Ensen noticed that Kaitlin's eye narrowed slightly before responding.
"Is that all your here for?" Kaitlin said with suspicion in her voice, seemingly expecting something else.
"That's correct. I'm sorry for bothering you, I can just go if you'd like." Ensen spoke out of consideration, after all, she seemed overly secluded and unwilling to talk after he had knocked on her door.
The eye in the peephole kept staring at Ensen in silence for nearly a straight minute before it pulled back and sounds of locks coming undone were audible through the door.
Keeping his eyes sharp out of curiosity, Ensen noticed the sound of four individual locks being undone although he may have counted incorrectly.
After around a minute, the door cracked open and Kaitlin's faced peeked out from the cover of the door. With a look of suspicion still on her face, she brought a hand from behind the door to reveal it gripping a small stack of paper.
Noticing the generous amount of paper, Ensen smiled kindly and said with sincerity "Thank you, Kaitlin."
Hearing his genuine response, Kaitlin frowned lightly and extended her hand to deliver the stack of paper to Ensen.
Without a word, Ensen slowly approached the door and raised his hand, grabbing the stack of papers from hers.
Slowly backing up not wanting to scare her or anything like that, Ensen nodded with a slight smile as he looked at the stack of papers happily.
"Thank you a lot Kaitlin, I really appreciate it," Ensen said while holding in a fist pump of celebration in order to not scare Kaitlin or make her uncomfortable in any way.
With a small nod, Kaitlin pulled her head back behind her door, retreating into her room. Shutting the door firmly, Ensen soon heard the sound of the four locks he had heard earlier. This time they were being locked.
Realizing she really did have four locks, his curiosity had peaked even further than before. But still, it wasn't his place to speak or mess around in any way after all. Standing there in deep thought, Ensen was looking at the door when he saw a familiar eye staring back at him.
Noticing the awkward situation, his thoughts had got himself in, Ensen smiled and thanked her again before turning around and walking towards his door.
Excited that he now had a significant amount of paper to draw his own designs with, Ensen unlocked the door and took his shoes off. Quickly returning to the table, he dropped the stack of paper onto the surface and sat down returning to sketching his ideas out.
Throughout the new few hours, Ensen repeatedly jotted ideas for a layout down before crumpling the paper up and throwing the paper behind him similar to how he had done it the first time. Although the majority of his ideas were scrapped, he did have a few pieces of paper laying nicely stacked to his right.
As it was approaching 1 am, Ensen tried increasingly hard to stay awake. He even brewed himself a coffee to try to power through the designing stage. But it was useless, Ensen's eyes became increasingly heavy before he simply couldn't stay awake anymore. With his thoughts still fully focused on the design at hand.
Unable to hold his head up anymore, he instantly fell asleep with his head swiftly rushing straight towards the table. Right as his head was about to slam into the wooden table, a sizable pure white pillow appeared suddenly from the void catching his head in its comforting cushion.
A few moments after the pillow appeared, a fuzzy Grey blanket appeared from seemingly nothing over top Ensen's head. Gently falling towards his body, the blanket soon rested on top of his body, ensuring he would be comfortable throughout the night.
