Delta was sitting on his bed while holding an auto-injection in his hand. He had a focused look on his face as he stared at the auto-injection while remembering his conversation with Ryker.

They were both alone in a room and Delta had just asked Ryker what to do about the non-awakened esper.

'Someone like him will surely understand, we can let that trash continue in the tournament! Executioner Leywin won't be able to do anything if the order comes from someone above her,' Delta thought confidently. Ryker looked him directly in the eyes for some seconds. Even though Ryker's eyes seemed unbothered, Delta still felt like they were looking straight into his soul.

"You crave power and recognition Delta, I can see it in your eyes, they are filled with ambition. You probably believe that you'll one day become the one that will reform the esper society for the better, but your current position is still holding you back," Ryker started walking around Delta while he listened confused. He didn't know what Ryker's goal could be, but it couldn't be anything good. "You probably deem some of the people above you incompetent or even weak," Delta immediately understood that Ryker was referring to Executioner Leywin.

"Executioner Ryker, I apologize if I…" Delta tried saying but his words were completely meaningless as Ryker continued talking.

"Denying it is futile, Delta," said Ryker. He reached for his pocket and pulled out an auto-injection. "However, this can be your chance to prove yourself," he said as he handled the auto-injection to Delta. "Kill Leywin, and her place will be yours."

Delta took the auto-injection and looked at it thoughtfully.

"Delta what's the meaning of this," it was at that moment when Miss Leywin entered the room.

Back in his room, Delta was staring at the auto-injection. He had realized that he had fallen into Ryker's trap. If he didn't accept Ryker's offer, he would probably be killed by Executioner Leywin in no time, however, he still had to give her a reason. On the other hand, if he accepted Ryker's offer, there was no guarantee that whatever was inside the auto-injection would give him the upper hand against Executioner Leywin.

'How dare he manipulate me this way,' thought Delta enraged.

Meanwhile in his room, Ryker was sitting in front of a holographic screen.

"What about the auto-injection?" asked a voice.

"It's done," Ryker answered.

"How are you so sure he will accept the deal?"

"He's arrogant by nature. Even though he will hate being manipulated, he will still choose the option that grants him more power."

"What if he takes the auto-injection and doesn't do anything?"

"Then that only means I'll just have to get my hands dirty. However, once he feels the effect of the serum, going against Leywin will be very tempting."

'As the second in command of an Executioner, Delta is one of the most powerful espers in the world and one of the few that are next in the line to become an Executioner if for any reason something happened to one of the latter. On the other hand, Leywin's situation is particular among the Executioners. She is the third-ranked Executioner even though she has the lowest stage of us. Delta's arrogance plus the effect of the serum and the stage of Leywin will make it irresistible for him to challenge,' Ryker thought.

"Then I'll leave the rest to you," the voice said.

"Very well, sir."

After changing back into his normal clothes and grabbing all his stuff, Seth put on his mask again and started heading for Hall K. As he walked through the hallways he noticed that the whole floor he was in was some kind of hospital where all the participants that had been severely injured from the first phase were being treated. That's also why in the room he had been in, there had been other participants connected to life support, and the rest of the floor was about the same.

Seth took out his ID card and opened the map, which indicated that he was currently on the medical floor. Luckily for Seth, the building he was in was the same one the participants had stayed in while waiting for the start of the first phase so it wasn't difficult for him to locate the floor with the different halls and made his way to Hall K.

When Seth entered the room he was shocked by the number of participants. Before the first phase, Seth was able to see thousands of participants, however right now the number of participants barely reached one thousand.

'How many participants were disqualified? 60%? 70%? 80%?' Seth thought in shock.

Seth started walking around the room when he noticed a familiar group of four participants talking to each other. He quickly recognized them, they were Jake, Illya, Viktor, and Lea.

'So the four of them made it,' Seth thought with a smile. He also noticed what looked like a black window in the upper part of one of the walls.

Seth tried to look around to see if anyone else from Hyperion Academy had passed the first phase. He noticed a couple more of participants with the Hyperion uniform and a single boy who was leaning against one of the hall walls while he looked arrogantly at the rest of the participants, it was Ethan.

For a moment their eyes met and Ethan sneered, however, he couldn't recognize Seth due to the mask and Seth looked away.

A couple of seconds later a light illuminated the window as it became see-through. All the espers in the hall turned to look at the window, behind which appeared a man wearing a white mask.

"Good morning," Delta said. "First of all, I'd like to congratulate you all for passing the first phase."
