The class went by uneventfully and once again, none of the students managed to awaken their abilities. The non-awakened espers held onto the hope that the awakening class would eventually make them awaken their ability, but with each passing session, that hope faded. Seth had grown accustomed to this reality. He knew the class wouldn't help him awaken his ability, which is why he placed all his hopes on the Rising Espers Tournament. It was his final chance to awaken his ability
"Already 8 pm," Seth muttered, glancing at his clock. "I'm exhausted. I just want to go home and get some rest," he said as he made his way out of the academy.
By this time, most of the students had already left. It was rare to see anyone staying after classes, except for the non-awakened students. However, since they were few and the academy was immense, it felt deserted, especially with the worldwide energy-saving measures that were put in place since Humankind's Eclipse. The academy was mostly enveloped in darkness.
As Seth walked through one of the courtyards, he couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched. He quickly turned around, scanning his surroundings but found nothing. Nevertheless, the annoying feeling persisted.
‘I don't like this. I need to get out of here quickly,’ Seth thought, picking up his pace.
However, as he turned the corner, he came face to face with a shadowy figure.
"Yo defective, where do you think you're going in such a hurry? Planning to leave without saying goodbye? That's not good manners, you know," the boy taunted, a smirk visible even in the darkness.
‘Sh*t, this is not good,’ Seth thought while turning around, trying to leave. But as he turned, he saw two more persons standing behind him. The darkness concealed their features, but one of them appeared tall and bulky. The first boy's emerald eyes glowed as he activated his ability.
WHOOOM!
Seth dropped to one knee, immobilized by the intensified gravity.
"Never turn your back on me again, defective," the boy sneered with venom.
"F*ck... off... Ethan," Seth strained to speak.
"Huh? I intended to let you go with a warning, but it seems you want a trip to the hospital.”
Bang! Splat!
Letting a little energy flow, Ethan enhanced his arm and punched Seth in the face, splattering blood on the floor.
*Ptoi* Seth spat out blood. "This is a new low for you, Ethan. Attacking me when no one's around, and now having lackeys to back you up even though I have no ability."
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
Bang! Splat!
Ethan struck Seth again.
"I don't want to hear a single word from you. The mere existence of your kind is a disgrace to this academy and to espers," Ethan spat with hatred.
Bang!
Ethan kicked Seth in the stomach. Laying one hand on the floor while he held his stomach with the other one, Seth coughed as he struggled to breathe. Ethan crouched down, grabbing Seth by the hair and pulling him close.
"Now listen carefully, defective. This is the last time you set foot in this academy. If I see you tomorrow, I'll make sure you never wake up again. Understand?"
*Ptoi* Seth spat in Ethan's face. "Go to hell."
Bang! Splat!
Ethan hit Seth once more, sending him directly to the floor.
Ethan stood up, commanding his accomplice. "Take care of him, Douglas."
Douglas approached Seth slowly, his muscles bulging as he activated his ability. He crouched down and seized Seth by the neck, lifting him off the ground.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Douglas relentlessly punched Seth in the stomach.
*Blergh* Seth expelled a mouthful of blood, but Douglas didn't relent, delivering more blows.
"Enough," Ethan ordered, causing Douglas to release his grip, letting Seth collapse to the floor, now covered in blood.
"You're not so cocky now, Seth. What happened to the guy who called me useless? C'MON CALL ME USELESS ONE MORE TIME, I DARE YOU!" Ethan yelled.
Bang! Splat!
Ethan delivered a swift kick to Seth's face, splattering more blood onto the floor.
"I BET YOUR PARENTS JUST KILLED THEMSELVES WHEN THEY SAW THEY HAD SUCH A TRASHY, USELESS, DEFECTIVE KID!" Ethan spat with venom.
BANG!
Ethan kicked Seth’s stomach, and Seth’s consciousness waned.
"HOW WERE YOU EVEN ALLOWED IN THIS SCHOOL, YOU ARE NOTHING BUT TRASH, A DISGRACE. YOU’D BE BETTER OFF DEAD!"
BANG! SPLAT!
Ethan crouched, lifting Seth's head to make him look directly at him.
"If I see you here again tomorrow, or if you say a word about this, I'll make you disappear," Ethan threatened, pulling his arm back and channeling his ability to strike Seth again and knock him out for good.
Shing! Pack!
A girl suddenly appeared behind Ethan, grabbing his arm just as he was about to deliver the blow. Her purple eyes glowed in the darkness, accompanied by crackling bolts of purple energy.
"Huh? What's going on here?" she asked in a calm threatening tone.
The three guys felt a sudden dread. ‘F*ck,’ they thought in unison.
Stella tightened her grip on Ethan's arm, causing him to wince in pain.
"Now, would you care to explain what you were doing here?" Stella asked.
"Th-This isn't what it looks like. This clumsy guy tripped and fell, and w-we were just helping him up, r-right guys?" Ethan stammered nervously, receiving nods of agreement from his lackeys.
"Is that so?" Stella's gaze pierced Ethan's soul, her glowing purple eyes sending a chill down his spine.
Bang!
Stella kicked Ethan, sending him flying into a nearby wall.
Shing!
She teleported in front of the other two, catching them off guard. They attempted to activate their abilities, but they were far too slow.
Bang! Bang!
Both espers crumpled to the ground, struggling to catch their breath. The bulkiest one tried to rise, but...
Bang! Splat!
Stella swiftly struck him in the face, knocking him down and spilling more blood.
"Stay down," she commanded. "Now, if I ever catch you harassing anyone, even in the slightest, I'll make sure to leave you with lifelong injuries. Got it?"
"You f*cker, do you know who my father is?" Ethan seethed with rage as he slowly got up.
"Does it look like I care?" Stella shot Ethan a cold glare.
