'Now let's see how many points you are worth,' Seth thought as he took out his ID card and opened the interaction menu.
The ID card immediately recognized the thirio's corpse close to Seth and a new option 'Claim points' appeared in the interaction menu. Seth pressed it.

'So they are classified by classes, so the higher the class the higher the point reward. If all the class D have the same point reward I would have to kill 100 of them in order to gather the 10 000 points, that would be around 14, 15 thirios per day,' Seth thought as he read the information displayed in the interaction menu from the ID card. 'Even they are as easy to defeat as this one, I doubt I will be able to find so much of them per day,' he thought as he looked out the window. He was able to see some other thirio like the one he just killed, but it was around five of them and some of them were pretty far away. 'I have to find higher class thirios,' he concluded.
Seth, who had been crouched next to the thirio, stood up, and in a swift movement, he shook the thirio's blood off his katana and sheathed it again before walking away.
'Class A thirios should be too much for me to handle, and I can easily defeat class D. For the moment I should try to hunt class C thirios and try some class B,' Seth thought as he started heading down the stairs. It was time to start the hunt.

In a control room filled with computers arranged in different lines, quite a few people could be seen sitting in front of each computer and going through different values. In front of all the lines of computers was a big screen on the wall, almost the size of the whole wall, which was showing the image of a destroyed city with some numbers on one side.
[Number of days passed: 0

Disqualified participants: 356
Remaining participants: 9 238
Participants having 10k points: 0]
At the other end of the room stood a man with a white mask and black uniform. He was supervising the development of the first phase.
"What's the data about the disqualified participants?" asked Delta.
"107 had to be rescued before being hit by a bolt of lightning during the insertion phase, 67 had to be rescued after landing in the test area, and 182 used the emergency extraction after facing the thirios. So long we have 0 reported deaths." said a woman who was sitting in front of a screen while browsing through different reports.
"Has any of the participants seen the rescue actions?"
"So far all the rescues have been successfully covered up, as long as our data allows us to know no participant suspects anything," answered the woman.
"Good, it's imperative that the participants think they could die. Otherwise, this whole test is useless," Delta said in a serious voice, scaring a little all the people in the room.
Normally any person could be close to a very powerful esper without any problem as long as the esper kept his aura in check. However, since Delta was on duty he had to show his authority as a Black Guard operator and let some of his aura slip out, inspiring respect and a little bit of fear in everyone. So when he talked so seriously, letting more of his aura slip out, everyone shivered.
"S-sir yes sir," the woman stuttered.

It took Seth several minutes, but he finally got to the building's first floor. On its way down he crossed another two class D thirios and made another 200 points.
He opened the stairs door and walked stealthily across the building's lobby. It was completely wet just like all the other floors, due to the rain entering through the broken windows. After taking a look around the lobby he quickly realized it was clear of thirios.
'Tsk, I had hoped to find higher class thirios on my way down, but I only found those other two D class,' Seth thought a little frustrated. 'And going outside could be quite troublesome with the current storm limiting the visibility. Seems like I'll have to wait until the storm passes,' he thought.
After deciding he would stay inside the building until the storm passed, he went to investigate the different rooms that he hadn't checked before in the lobby as well as on the first floors to make sure they were clear.
While he checked he found and killed with one hit a class E thirio.

'Another low-class thirio,' he thought with a disappointed sigh.
After making sure everything was secure he chose a spot inside an old storage room and went to sleep. The storm wouldn't pass soon.
He woke up a couple of hours later after the storm had finally passed. Without wasting time he got up and went back to the first floor's lobby.
'There are two ways to approach the search for targets,' Seth thought as he looked at the street from the lobby. 'The first way is to go around dashing at full speed until finding a higher class thirio. The second way is to move cautiously around the city. Each way has its pros and cons, the first way would allow me to cover a much greater area in less time and thus find a thirio faster, however, if a powerful thirio happens to see me before I do it could be quite dangerous; the second way is safer since it would be more difficult for a thirio to surprise or ambush me, but it could also take more time to find a thirio,' Seth thought as he analyzed his two possibilities. 'I still don't know how's the thirio's class distribution around the city. Worst case scenario, I could lose several days before finding a powerful thirio with option two.'
After thinking for a couple of minutes he finally chose an option.
'F*ck it, I'm going with option one. I've already decided I would risk my life to awaken my ability. Plus, option two would be way too boring,' he thought with a smirk before dashing out of the building.
