Mistakes made and lessons learnt

Hello readers,

First of all I would like to thank every single one of you who gave this novel a try. It definitely feels as a blessing to have people read something that I wrote.

And now comes the mistakes and lessons part:

This last arc has been quite the learning experience for me. I experimented with different writing techniques, some worked and some failed miserably. One such example would be the way action was written in the last arc. I tried writing a fast paced action scene without adding a lot of description or characters’ thoughts. And the result?..Well the quality of chapters plummeted to an astounding degree, the plain action made readers lose interest in the chapter and skip it entirely.

I realized that the trick to writing an engaging action scene is to focus on characters' thoughts and emotions along with the action. How will they react?..What are their thoughts? These were the questions I forgot to answer in the few chapters I wrote just plain action.

And a major problem I faced was not really enjoying the writing process, it became a hassle to write every single chapter on time, resulting in unpolished and hastily written chapters getting uploaded. This happened because I planned every part of the chapter in detail before I even started writing one, which drained the fun out of the writing process. As I like to explore the story along with the characters.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Apparently, I am a plantser! I now just have a destination in which I want to take the story, what would happen in each arc has been planned without dwelling in every single detail. Just having the rough final point of the story, and exploring the direction to take while I am writing made it more fun than ever!.

So these were the lessons learnt.

I would edit the chapters I messed up and rewrite them entirely if they are beyond salvaging, while keeping the story going. This will definitely take time but leaving poorly written chapters isn’t one of the choices I have.

Well besides that, this arc still was a lot of fun to write. Technically, this is the first novel I wrote and I plan to complete the story with every chapter being better than the last one.

Once again, thanks a lot for reading this novel, and I promise to write a story worth reading.
