construcion worker part 2

Bob heads north of the village to see men working on building a house. He approaches one of the men working and asks, "Do you know who I can ask for work here?"

The man points to another man standing in the shade. Bob approaches him too.

"Hello, sir. I wanted to ask if I can work," Bob says.

The man sees Bob, a bald, well-built young man.

"Well, yes, right now?" the man asks.

"Yes," Bob replies.

"Very well. Remove that wall with this hammer, then throw the rocks into that pit, and then bring these rocks to the other men. You work until the sun goes down. You cool?"

"Ah, yes," Bob acknowledges.

Bob starts working. He removes the wall and then the rocks, and then he continues to help the other workers. During his free time, he makes gym equipment by attaching two heavy rocks to the end of a stick and using it as a bar for bench press, or using the rocks as dumbbells. He utilizes the grassy floor as a bench. Of course, he returns to work if requested. And with this, the sun sets with Bob only removing, bringing, and working out with rocks.

Today's workout is chest.

The men line up before the old man to get paid. Bob is somewhere at the end. When he sees that the first man is paid with only a coin, his mouth falls to the floor.

"Oh, no."

Bob's time to get paid comes. He is paid with one coin. He says nothing, not wanting to make a scene and hoping that maybe a coin is a lot because construction pays well. So, he returns to the inn.

The inn is filled with people. Bob comes inside and tries to find Ada, but then a couple shouts, "Boy, come and sit with us."

Bob turns his head, and a man and woman sitting at a table close to the window invite him over. Bob courteously approaches them.

"You are the boy Ada told us about. Please sit," they say.

"Ah, thank you. And you are?" Bob asks.

"We are the owners of this building."

"Wow, allow me to thank you. Thank you for giving me this dress," Bob expresses his gratitude.

The couple is surprised.

"What is a dress? The thing you are wearing is called a chiton. Here, boy, take some bread. I hear you were out working," the couple says.

Bob accepts the bread and starts eating, only to be shocked that he can't taste it.

The couple mentions, "The wine this time of the year smells amazing."

Bob smells the wine but can't smell it. Bob starts to worry; he has never been sick since he started working out.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a spear breaks through the window and lands in the wall just right by Bob's head.

"Oh no, I missed," a man outside shouts in a sad tone.

"What the heck?" Bob exclaims.

People start screaming and leaving. The man shouts, standing at the entrance of the door, "I won't let you leave, you modern boy."

"What in the world?" Bob says, now super scared.

The man allows everyone to leave except for Bob.

"This is the best Ai could do this time around," the man says.

"Hey man, I also know Ai," Bob responds.

"I hoped you had been harder to kill. Oh well," the man says as he takes out his sword and slashes through Bob.

Bob falls.

The man says, "I just have to stay here and make the payment. Hm."
