Now that Seifer had confirmed what Arcturus wanted to do, he just had to make a plan of action. The fact that it was a ritual, told him that he wouldn’t be let off so easily.
Most rituals that involved murder required the death of someone with very specific qualities as well as a certain compatibility with the beneficiary. If Seifer was the ideal candidate for whatever ritual Arcturus wanted to do, he would find a way to get to him even if he didn’t join the mission.
If he knew exactly which ritual Arcturus was attempting, it would be for the best but all the probing he had done to Orion had revealed nothing. Orion hadn’t been given any details by his father.
Hopefully, I won’t even need to know thought Seifer. In his last life, a dozen years from this point in time, there had been a vampire attack on Ceres, something which killed both Arcturus and the Viscount of Ceres, Lord Algery. After that, it had been discovered that Arcturus Harkes had been sheltering that vampire the entire time.
Vampires were classified as a Class 7 dark race by the Hand of Justice, the highest class of “evil races”.If Seifer could expose Arcturus for sheltering a vampire under his roof, it would see him executed at once. Not only would the Light Order call for his head, an envoy from the Hand of Justice might be sent as well.

All Seifer had to do was give proof of the vampire to the Light Order and make sure it couldn’t be traced back to him. Then, they could just handle his dirty work for him. So, his next course of action was to get his hands on the vampire.
Arcturus was most likely using the vampire for blood. Vampire blood had many uses, it was an extremely precious commodity, especially in the first few seconds of it leaving the vampire’s body.
That could be how Arcturus supplied so many high level Dark Potions to the City of Nox. No one would know that he had a vampire in his custody if he rarely provided Potions that needed the blood of a vampire and just used it to replace other ingredients.
If this vampire was an integral part of Arcturus’ potions operations then he must have at least one other who could access it, he didn't have enough time to do it all himself.
Based on what he knew from his last life and everything Orion said, Seifer had deduced that Arcturus loved and trusted his son even if he could be overbearing and not take his feelings into account. He was sure Orion had access to the vampire.
Seifer needed to build a friendship with Orion as fast as possible. At once, he wrote a letter to Arcturus telling him that he would join the mission but requested Orion’s help in joining the War Guild and gaining experience.
That night, Arcturus Harkes did not know if he should whoop with joy for Seifer agreeing to join the mission or cry tears of blood because his son had gotten so drunk that he didn’t remember a word from his and Seifer’s conversation.
