Chapter 6: Red-haired man

On the damp ground of an isolated unknown jungle.

Two young guys stood facing each other.

One was trembling as he recalled the events of the last few minutes as the effect of the adrenaline expired on his body, leaving him with a slight feeling of nausea.

After his first victory in this unfamiliar environment, he laughed along with the other participant he found to vomit a moment later.

He had suffered no great physical harm but his mentality was somewhat shaken.

Meanwhile, the other individual was sitting on the ground, relieved that the problematic situation he was involved in was finally resolved. Promising himself that he will be more cautious in attacking an unknown monster recklessly.

He doesn't want to know anything related to rabbits for a while.....

The damage he received was not little. Multiple bruises and a puncture wound on his right leg can be found all along his body, not to mention the fatigue heaped upon him.

“Hello....haaf....my name is Avian.”

“Kael”

..................

“This is all pretty crazy, isn't it?”

“tell me about it.......do you still have the healing potion you received at the beginning?”

Hearing Kael's words, Avian seemed to come to a realization and rummaged through his pockets, only to find a small vial that had some shallow cracks on it, breathing a sigh of relief as he looked at it doubtfully.

“am I supposed to drink it or apply it on my wounds?”

At the unexpected unknown, Kael also went into confusion.

“Your condition is a bit more serious, let me try it first to see.”

Kael proceeded to summon his own healing potion from his inventory and began to drink the contents down to ¾ of the original amount. He only had a few scrapes and small bruises, so he didn't think he needed more than that amount.

The potion had a somewhat unpleasant taste, as if it were a very concentrated herbal infusion with a slight aftertaste of ¿plastic?, causing a grimace of disgust in Kael.

But, obviating its taste, it did seem to be an effective potion. The small amount of damage he received was almost completely magically healed in the span of a few seconds.

“I still feel a slight hint of pain but it seems to work quite well, I guess if you take the whole vial, you should be able to recover” explained Kael as he saw the results “If you fail to heal your injury properly, I have no problem trying to apply some of my potion to your wounds.”

Avian nodded gratefully before drinking the entirety of the concoction.

“Bleh! Cof cof cof! Bro! this tastes gross!”

“Hahah!”

It seems the taste was especially unpleasant for him, but that's not what's important, it's the healing effect it had.

He didn't feel much different, he noticed that he regained a small amount of stamina. It is only as the seconds passed that he saw his bruises slowly fade as the wound on his leg began to heal.

When it seemed that the effect had worn off, he stood up, walked a little and did a few hops. He still felt slightly uncomfortable and the wound was not fully recovered, but he seemed to be able to move normally.

He saw Kael approaching with his potion in hand, but turned him down.

“Don't worry, bro, I'm already fine.....keep her, there's no telling what kind of things we'll encounter in the future.”

Kael nodded, then put on a thoughtful expression and summoned a pair of large leaves between them and subsequently pulled a moderate amount of yellow berries on each surface out of thin air.

“I found these earlier, they look safe to eat” he said as he popped a few into his mouth. “It's best not to spend too much time here, the smell of blood may attract other monsters.”

Avian nodded, watching the small fruits for a few seconds before showing a relaxed expression and popping them into his mouth with confidence.

The taste was bitter, but still retained a slightly sweet aftertaste, so it wasn't unpleasant to eat, at least it provided them with a small source of food and hydration, to restore some of the energy expended in the previous battle.

“You have a subspace inventory type ability or something like that. don't you? I'm jealous”

“.........Yeah, it's pretty useful for storing stuff....the bad thing is that I don't have any offensive skills.”

“Ho”

..........

Kael decided to communicate his skill at once.

«Obviously it's useful for storing things, it's an inventory, ah, how embarrassing»

He was embarrassed at how he said it, he's not someone very eloquent so he's not very good at carrying on conversations.

Once he felt his hands touch stopped sensing berries, he stood up, walking towards the rabbits inert body.

First he went to retrieve his spear and sword.

He found it extremely unpleasant to feel and hear the sound of the flesh of those creatures as he extracted the weapons from their bodies, but he had no choice but to do so.

Fortunately, although he felt nauseous, he did not puke.

His weapons were stained with blood, he couldn't clean it properly due to the lack of water and some rag, but he managed to use dirt and some leaves to clean most of the blood on them.

Avian had also finished eating, so Kael hurried to look at the corpses and finally decide to keep the body of the decapitated rabbit and the one with the pierced neck, which were the best preserved.

“Where do you think we should go?”

At his new partner's question, he reminisced about the directions given by Aura.

It took him a while to get his bearings back due to the fact that he had lost the direction he had come from, but finally vaguely recalling some landmarks and his past actions, he was finally able to locate himself.

“Over there!”

Avian had no idea where to go, so he didn't care about the direction. Besides, Kael seemed to be a relatively reliable guy.

As they headed towards their destination, Avian asked a couple of questions.

“By the way, where did you get an extra weapon from?”

He himself knew it was a somewhat awkward question but he had a need to know, even if Kael seemed like a nice guy.

“Oh, the sword” Kael didn't seem to take too much importance to the question, which relieved the other party a bit “I met a strong person.....very very veeeeery strong, you can't imagine how much....That person said didn't need this sword anymore and handed it to me, at the same time giving me directions.”

Avían put on an incredulous expression.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

“Pretty weird. isn't it? hehe, I don't think I'd believe it with words alone either....so look”

Kael didn't want to cause annoying misunderstandings so he summoned the horned fox's body, revealing the clean cut with which his body was divided.

Avian's eyes opened wide, he noticed that detail immediately.

Kael returned the fox immediately to his inventory.

“The scene I came across was mind- mind- blowing, there were numerous carcasses of these foxes and even larger species. They were all cleanly cut up in the same way. I probably encountered the strongest person in the entire tutorial, but unfortunately that person didn't seem to have the intention of making group”

“I understand.”

Avian felt his world view widen a bit, he didn't expect someone as monstrous as the person in front of him described existed.

On the way they found a couple of bushes with those yellow berries they already knew, picking them to eat and to keep.

“Hey, bro how old are you? You're tall but your features look kinda young.”

“Fourteen”

“Damn! I thought you'd be just a little younger than me. You're not a bro, you're a lil bro.”

Kael was a little embarrassed, scratching his cheek.

Oddly enough, after saying that, Avían looked somewhat thoughtful and showed a serious expression.

“Everything okay?”

“Ah...nothing, it's just that....I have a sister of similar age to yours....”

Hou, I understand.

«I think it's unlikely that her sister is also here, as it would require that extremely rare strange event they were involved in to happen right at her location.

Hey! Now that I think about it, not everyone summoned here experienced that event. Some died of natural causes....

I'm kind of curious about Avian's case, but I think it would be a bit rude, and awkward, to ask him about it.»

The duo continued advancing until a sudden impact that occurred right in the lush vegetation they were about to cross surprised them.

They both stepped back, on guard, at the same time as a blurred figure suddenly approached towards them.

At first they intended to block the attack but sensing the overwhelming power the other party had, they backed away, nervous, it is only when the figure was clearly visible about to unleash another attack, that they could everyone perceive the appearance of the others.

The original duo encountered an extremely burly red-haired man of short stature, who was holding an axe about to swing at them.

At the same time, the man also realized that the opposing party were also human beings, so he immediately tensed his arms to stop their movement.

They all looked at each other in a somewhat uncomfortable scene.

The first to react was the short red-haired man, who slowly retracted and lowered his weapon, while his muscles deflated, still retaining a robust and muscular appearance without reaching the extreme as before.

*Cof cof cof*

“Nice to meet you, lads, I'm Rasmus, nice to meet you.”

.......

“Avian, nice to meet you too.”

“Ka...Kael...glad to meet another human being.”

The tense atmosphere lasted for a moment until they finally got to know each other better.

Rasmus' circumstances were especially curious to Kael.

Since he was not affected by the phenomenon that dragged him here, but had died in circumstances that he himself did not want to mention, but he sounded upset.

Something that seemed curious to him was that he did not recognize the name of the country Rasmus claimed to be from, but Avian did. This confirmed to Kael that these two were from a different world than his own, Avian's red eyes had already given him a clue before.

He also noticed that Avian was slightly surprised at the red-haired man's mention of death.

«His circumstances are probably similar to mine.»

Contrary to what one might think, the trio managed to hit it off well together despite not knowing each other very well.

Avian silently asked Kael if he had any idea of the location of more people, but Kael shook his head, so they decided to take a break to rest.

They decided to share a berry banquet with Rasmus, who was already familiar with these fruits and seemed to have already consumed them, so he happily ate with them.

The latter was surprised by Kael's storage capacity.

“Berries are not bad, but I still have a craving for meat. It's just that I think we should find some shelter first, some direct source of water wouldn't be bad either” expressed Rasmus.

“Yes, some shelter. It's just that you don't see something like that in this sea of trees and vegetation” replied Avian.

“Uhm, I might be wrong, but I think all of us survivors are within a certain area, maybe if we go deeper over this area of survivors, there is some shelter. This...it's a tutorial, so there must be some flexibility, but I'm not sure.”

Rasmus looked somewhat confused by Kael's words, to which Kael told him about his experience, while adding more details.

Kael made the mistake of moving away from that area towards a zone without humans, but fortunately he found that girl called Aura, who showed him the way to Avian and Rasmus.

Again he had to remove the perfectly dismembered corpse of the horned fox from his inventory so that the other party would be convinced.

With the new information, the plan of action became clear, go deeper into the center of the “spawn area” to find and meet as many people as possible.

«Hehe, in a way this is looking more and more like an adventure. If only my clothes weren't dirty and sticky, I'd even be a little excited.

«At least my worry about finding a group was solved. With 3 people we should be able to manage just fine. Rasmus seems particularly strong.»

“Mister Rasmus, by any chance...can you use all your skills? I don't know if it's because I can't or I don't know how to release them, but at the moment I can only use one of my skills.”

“My skills....To tell the truth, I also have the same problem, I can only use the skill you saw before. I can increase my muscularity and become stronger.”

“Hou” Kael was a bit surprised “Could it be that they limit the amount of usable skills or something, do the skills you can't use have any particular characteristic?”

He didn't imagine that the others had that kind of limitation.

The strongman duo looked hesitant for a few moments, but finally revealed the information of the skills they couldn't use.

Avian: [Flash Step] [Fire Blade].

Rasmus: [Electro Boost] [Weapon Recall] [Iron Fist].

Avian and Kial looked at Rasmus, the name of his dormant abilities along with the power he already demonstrated previously gives an indication of how monstrous he can become.

Rasmus smiled as he looked a bit proud.

“It's just a hypothesis, but the inactive skills seem somehow to be more related to magic.”

“Makes sense, my sword slash doesn't use mana, but your storage ability doesn't use?”

“No, oddly enough my storage capacity hasn't consumed any of my mana so far.”

“Oh, then indeed that's a very plausible hypothesis, lad” added Rasmus.

“Wa, the most exciting aspect of these types of scenarios is usually magic, to have it restricted to us like this is an abuse. I was kind of excited to have a flaming sword.”

*kwik* *kwik* *kwik*

The trio were chatting peacefully until they heard a series of animalistic squeals.

Suddenly a shadow was glimpsed running in the distance, causing the trio to raise their weapons.

Curiously, that entity seemed to be moving away towards a certain location, apparently without noticing them.

However, suddenly the earth began to shake slightly, before a large number of entities approached in the distance, following the same direction.

The trio looked at each other and backed away slowly, seeking to get away from the place as they hid using the flora in the area.

*kwik* kwik* kwik*

Until they heard that screech quite close to them, catching a glimpse of the figure of what appeared to be a boar with particularly sharp tusks, heading in the same direction as the rest of the herd.

Only, as it approached them, this creature slowed down as it passed near the remains of those yellow berries they had consumed earlier.

The trio remained still, although they already knew the type of creatures they were facing, the number of these animals as well as the consideration of the supernatural abilities of the monsters in this area, made them avoid the confrontation.

That wild boar began to sniff.

But

A rare scene ensued in which that boar slowly advanced a few steps, before retreating in the same manner, all the while sniffing with its head still fixed in the direction the rest of its herd was headed, as if it were some kind of puppet.

“ah”

It is only when Avian momentarily lost his balance due to a landslide, shaking some ferns, that the creature looked in our direction.

As soon as it noticed the group of humans in its vicinity, that animal seemed to awaken from some kind of trance and growled at the group, before quickly charging at them.

“Fuck it!”

The one who reacted the fastest was Rasmus, whose musculature exploded and he approached the boar at breakneck speed, bringing his axe down before it could react.

*kwiiiiiiiiiiiiik*

Despite the power shown, it was still not possible to kill the creature with a single blow, giving it the opportunity to release a piercing scream.

It was only when it was hit for the second time, that the boar was losing its breath.

“oh no, not again!”

The group was already preparing for the worst

............

However

There was no change.

They continued to watch those beasts advance in the distance.

*Phew (x2)

The younger ones sighed, but the older one still seemed hesitant, causing the rest to begin to question the situation as well.

They intended to leave the place immediately.

Until

An ominous premonition formed in their hearts.

*Grwoooooo!*

The ground seemed to shake more than before as they could hear the vegetation near them being crushed.

“Watch out!”

The team scattered in different directions as they realized that a large shadow was approaching their location, ready to run them over.
