Chapter 5

*Phew*

Ah, man.

I can't believe how pathetic I must have looked there.

I patted my face with my free hand, still feeling the heat emanating from it.

I'm not good at managing my expressions, so there's no way she didn't notice my nervousness.

How embarrassing!

How embarrassing!

How embarrassing!

Well....I can't complain about the situation to be honest, it was a fortuitous encounter in which I came out benefited.

It is certainly much easier to move through the vegetation with a sword than with a spear.

The only drawback is that I made a wrong estimation at the beginning. A sword does not have the same effectiveness as a machete for moving in this type of environment. It is not sharp enough.

With more power I might achieve some results but I don't want to consume too much stamina.

The masked angel mentioned the existence of individuals from worlds other than mine who were also being transmigrated.

I couldn't help but come to the conclusion that the beautiful girl I met must be one of them.

Aura

Obviating her beauty, which was superior to any girl I had ever seen before, from my point of view. It's weird to describe, but she emanated a certain ethereal feeling, I wouldn't be surprised if she was some kind of elf, but I checked her ears and they had a normal shape.

The golden eyes she had are also kind of highlighting.

Not a natural eye color, at least not from the world I came from, but that can be explained by the possession of an eye-related skill.

Truth be told, it doesn't make too much sense to think about it now, since there's no way to check it right now nor is it something particularly relevant.

It's just that I can't help thinking about her.....

*Phew*

Reflecting on how I feel, I came to a somewhat embarrassing conclusion.

I may have fallen a little in love....

I scratched my cheek lightly, somewhat discouraged.

It's best to fizzle out those kinds of thoughts.

The environment I'm in doesn't give me enough freedom to have the privilege of losing myself in that kind of useless ideas.

Aura is my benefactor, thanks to her I have an extra weapon and a valuable additional healing potion, which will be of enormous help for my survival.

I feel a bit guilty to have this kind of feelings towards her, I feel it's rude.

I don't even know her that much.....

She definitely has terrifying power, she must have gotten lucky in awakening skills.

No, I don't think it's just that.

The way in which both trees and the corpses of numerous large wolf-sized beasts, led by a gigantic version of the same, were all cut down CLEANLY, and yet she retained a totally neat and serene appearance, is something that is definitely beyond the ordinary.

Or well, beyond the plain abnormal, if we take into account the context in which we find ourselves.

She definitely has some combat experience, that's for sure.

I can't expect people from other worlds to be too similar to those from my home world.

Still, I can almost guarantee that she should be the strongest participant in this tutorial.

Probably.....

In fact..... don't know how powerful or beneficial the other participants are due to the fact that I have no interaction with others besides Aura.

Now I am starting to feel a little bad.

Could it be that I am weaker than I thought?

No no.

Recalling the masked angel's explanation again and based on the general description of my former skill choices, the difference shouldn't be that abysmal, which in a way relieves me.

I went back to looking at my status

There wasn't much to see

Order: [Mortal - Level 0 - Stage 1]

Levels and stages, huh.

In a way, it's quite in keeping with the interface of this video game-like world.

I'll probably get stronger by killing monsters to get experience or something, probably.

It sucks that I don't have some offensive skills, but at least my subspace power seems useful enough for me to be able to get the attention of potential teammates.

I'm not much of a fearless person, I prefer to play it safe, have some control capability, so going solo isn't an option for me.

I wonder if I will ever meet Aura again.

I'm not aware of the extent of this space or the length of the tutorial, so I can't say for sure.

But at least from the looks of it, she had no intention of meeting as a group.

At least not with me.....

*Phew*

Putting any more complicated feelings on the back burner, she is my benefactor, so I'd like to be able to return the favor in the future.

I'm still yet to encounter any creatures on my own, which is fortunate. Those big foxes must have been the predominant species in the area, but they were already exterminated by that girl.

I continued walking a little more relaxed, until finally I could hear some rumbling coming from nearby, which made me slightly nervous.

From the continuous sound, I deduced that it was a confrontation.

I couldn't help but tense up a bit as my heart tingled, but a glance at the endless, lonely jungle made me make a decision.

I moved towards the source of the commotion while strengthening the grip on my sword and paying more attention to my stance.

I moved forward carefully trying not to be too outrageous until I finally came upon a shocking scene.

A tall brown-skinned boy was being besieged by white, red-eyed creatures with lush fur and horns on their heads.

The best way to describe them was horned rabbits. Sounds cute on paper but once such creatures have the size of a medium sized dog, fangs and massive leg power. not so much anymore.

Initially he just tried to test his cutting ability, which seemed to be the only one he could use besides his origin skill, on the first creature that came his way, managing to deliver a deep and fatal cut that almost killed the large rabbit, which let out a pitiful scream.

However, before he knew it, he suddenly found himself surrounded by numerous of those creatures, feeling how he was suddenly hit by a cannonball before he could even react, crashing into a tree.

He had completely underestimated the creatures of this world.

Barely able to catch his breath after feeling a great pain in the front of his ribs being already fortunate that the creature had failed to hit him squarely and had not caused a piercing wound. He had no choice but to pull himself together as best he could and barely dodge the wave of attacks that were heading towards him.

Starting a difficult battle.

Seeing the dismembered corpses of giant rabbits and how injured the person in front of him was while still facing a group of those creatures, Kael hesitated for a moment but in the end he gritted his teeth and threw a stone that was nearby towards the group of bunny-like creatures while he gave a scream.

He knew he was going to regret this, since these creatures must not be as simple as they look from the state of the boy in front of him and the previous rumbles, but he was determined not to run away.

*crack*

He was already moving into attack position, ready to join the battle to face those monsters, when a rustling behind him caused chills to run down his spine, followed by a panic sensation.

He had a sinister premonition that made him jump diagonally forward in urgency, ending up with his hands against the ground as he quickly turned his body in order to get up, only being able to observe a white blurry figure that instantly advanced several meters before falling with his paws, revealing the shape of a rabbit.

In turn, with those empty red eyes full of murderous intent, two of those horned rabbits headed towards the fallen Kael while screeching aggressively, showing their fangs.

Their speed has nothing to envy to that of a hound.

Noticing this, he immediately tried to stand up while his eyes frantically scanned the surroundings, looking for his sword on the ground.

The rabbits were already hopping in front of him, opening their jaws wide, bringing him despair as he stood helplessly.

However, it seemed that luck had not completely deserted him, yet.

“SwORD SLAASH!”

It wasn't a great supernatural move, but a sword sliced through the air at a close distance and nevertheless managed to slash and thrust the body of one of the attacking beasts that jumped towards Kael, whose pushed body managed to bring down its partner as well.

Kael was able to recompose himself and finally find his weapon on the ground, wasting no time and charging towards one of the fallen beasts, stabbing it through the neck with a stab using all his strength in both hands while wielding his sword.

For his part, the brown-skinned golden-haired boy was panting heavily while still facing his two remaining opponents, plus the addition of the rabbit that had attacked Kael in the beginning.

His total charge was reduced by one opponent, but he had expended a lot of energy in the last attack to save the guy who had joined in.

Sword slash is the only skill he could use at the moment, a very useful one since he doesn't have to apply much physical force to cause lethal damage, however, until that moment he had only used it while directly slashing the opponent.

While it is a skill that did not use mana, it still seemed to use his physical stamina.

Even he wasn't sure if it was going to work, but in the end it was possible to force a greater power and range of the skill by expending more stamina, much more than expected.

These little bastards may look harmless, but they are a nightmare when they are in tandem.

These creatures can tense their legs to make powerful instantaneous jumps that turn them into deadly projectiles by adding their weights and horns to their initial lethality once they reach you.

It takes a few seconds to charge that move, but if you face multiple of these creatures you won't even know where to dodge from, who is charging their attacks and who is running straight at you.

Once he confirmed that the horned rabbit's body had stopped moving, Kael withdrew his sword from its corpse and went to the other rabbit that was already getting up, kicking it mercilessly.

He hadn't noticed it at first but the body of these killer beasts is a little more robust than he thought, giving that kick hurt, a little.

However, it was enough to momentarily stun the beast so he could perform a downward strike towards its neck now that there wasn't much movement.

Unfortunately, the force of this was not enough to achieve the expected result, Kael felt the blade hit against a hard surface but even before reaching that point, the sword could not manage to penetrate so deeply even taking into account the vulnerability of the targeted point.

Being aware of this, he became desperate and started kicking and stomping the horned rabbit while it screamed and tried to get up, several times almost making Kael lose his balance.

Hearing the wailing of the beast as he became more aware of the rust smell seeping through his sense of smell, he couldn't help but shiver, but, even so, he continued his action as he repeatedly stabbed the neck of the restrained animal until it stopped moving.

Giving him an immeasurable sense of relief.

But

This was not over yet, Kael picked up his sword heading towards the remaining rabbits, the blond boy is not even attacking anymore, he is just concentrating on dodging while breathing at an accelerated pace, it seems he had an injured leg.

Observing the best way to blend in, he couldn't help but come to the realization of the action pattern of these rabbits.

Previously he did not have enough time to analyze and notice how they need to gain momentum for a certain amount of time before displaying that powerful jump from before.

It's only a couple of seconds, but it's enough time to be able to take advantage of them while they don't notice his presence.

Sneaking up on them, Kael quickly found an opportunity, in which he didn't hesitate and stabbed one of the rabbits in the back with all his might, before subsequently trampling it.

He took into account the ineffectiveness of attempting to cut due to his lack of strength and bypassed the rabbit's neck because with the momentum with which he was going to stab, he feared he would miss the attack.

What he did not take into account was that this beast still had the power in its taut hind legs, so, when it tried to trample him like his previous target, it displayed an enormous force in a great leap, taking Kael's sword embedded in its body.

«DAMMIT!»

It was too late when he realized what had happened, sitting on the ground, another of those monsters was already charging at him.

This time there was no way the other guy could help him, due to the distance and how wounded he was.

Without enough time to get up, Kael could only try to move away with his hands in a vain and desperate attempt.

But, as soon as his hands made contact with the soft and wet texture of the ground, an idea flashed in his mind, it was the only way to have a minimal chance.

Without time to even hesitate, that creature was getting close enough to feel that his death was imminent, so he quickly grabbed a large handful of dirt with his hand and instantly threw it over its face.

Apparent shrieks of confusion were emitted by the blinded beast as it swerved and attempted to remove the earthy layer that temporarily adhered to its face using its short forelegs.

Giving him the opportunity to give it a powerful kick to its thorax and to be able to get up while its brain worked at an accelerated pace.

Once up, he didn't miss the opportunity to continue kicking the horned rabbit in post to keep him incapacitated for as long as possible, on the ground.

“Watch out!”

There was still one more enemy left, Kael was well conscious of that.

That's why as soon as he saw that remaining monster approaching in a confident manner, he smiled.

Even when this creature was close enough, he didn't notice that a spear had already appeared in Kael's hand.

Maybe because he knew there were no other options, or because the adrenaline secreted by his brain reached critical enough values to try to apply such a reckless plan for a second time.

Kael positioned his legs to generate as much momentum as possible and aimed at the open jaw of that disgusting creature that had caused him so much trouble, managing to impale it and knock it to the ground, leaving it incapacitated while its body suffered a series of spasms as the life escaped from its body.

Kael dropped his spear that was already embedded in the animal and stepped back quickly, he didn't want to risk it.

He was about to ask the other summoned for his sword as he took distance from the beast he had previously blinded, which was no longer going to be much of a problem being alone.

However.

“SwooOOrd! SslaAAsh!”

A nearby voice released a cry that almost sounded like a wail due to the fatigue contained in that voice.

That's when Kael witnessed that tall brown-skinned guy hold his bloody sword in front of the headless corpse of that blinded rabbit, before kneeling down and breathing heavily.

There was a moment of silence.

That guy looked at Kael

Kael looked at him.

Both could not help but laugh unrestrainedly with glee.

There was no need for words.

They had done it.

Both of them

Had won.
