30: Locci Snowstar (2)

Locci stood at attention and saluted. "Reporting for duty, sir," he said to his superior, who was seated at his desk.

His superior, Patrick, smiled and welcomed him. "Oh, welcome, Locci! I'm glad you could make it."

"I made it here because you helped me, sir," Locci said. "Without you, I wouldn't have been able to pass the test."

"You're better than the other candidates. If I hadn't hired you, our office would have missed out on a great asset."

Locci scratched his head and smiled bashfully. "You're too kind, sir."

"By the way, Locci, I know it's your first day, but we need every officer available on a big mission," Patrick said.

"What is the mission about, sir?" Locci asked.

"You are right on time for the mission briefing. Follow me," Patrick said, leading Locci to a room where several high-ranking officers were gathered, surrounded by lower-ranking police officers.

Standing behind Patrick, Locci observed as his superior sat among the higher-ranked officers. He felt the weight of many curious gazes upon him but remained composed, determined not to cause any embarrassment to Patrick.

"Why have you brought the lowest-ranked officer here, Patrick?" one of the highest-ranked officers asked.

"Don't worry about him. He's capable enough to assist us in this mission. Trust me," Patrick said.

"Who is this man?" one of them asked.

Patrick smiled mysteriously and said, "Do you remember the White Wolf?"

"The man who single-handedly annihilated local gangs?" one of the officers asked.

"Yes, Locci is the one and only White Wolf," Patrick said. "I've recruited him to work for us."

"Silver hair and blue eyes. He truly fits the White Wolf description. How intriguing," one of the female high-ranking officers commented, a playful glint in her eyes as she observed Locci.

"Well, if you still doubt him, he can prove himself in this mission," Patrick said. "Now, why don't we discuss the mission?"

Patrick began to present the mission on the screen. The operation was so significant that the office had mobilized every available officer. Their objective was to apprehend a key figure in a major company.

This individual was running the largest underground animal fight tournament in the country. Criminals from all over were drawn to it because of the enormous rewards. That's why it was crucial to catch this person and shut down the illegal animal fights.

One category in the tournament was aquatic animal fights, with the Arapaima Gigas being a favorite among players. After hearing this, Locci understood why so many Arapaima Gigas had been released into the river recently. It was likely that these fish had lost their fights and were discarded by their owners.

Locci would eat anything to survive, but he didn't approve of using living creatures for entertainment. That’s why he was determined to catch the person running this tournament.

Locci's eyes fixed on the screen where the target's name was displayed: Kaiser Washington. Kaiser belonged to the renowned Washington family, owners of Washington Corporate, one of the largest companies in the world. Despite his family's fame, the police had no information about Kaiser beyond his name. His presence was shrouded in mystery, making Locci's determination to catch him even stronger.

Despite knowing little about Kaiser beyond his name, the police had a lead on someone connected to the illegal tournament: Duke Washington, Kaiser's younger brother. As Locci examined Duke's picture, a realization hit him—Duke was the fat man he had beaten by the river yesterday.

Locci regretted letting Duke go yesterday, but he remained hopeful. He was confident he could find Duke again. For now, he needed to join the other officers. The mission was about to begin.

The officers drove to their destination, with Locci riding in Patrick's car. Their target was a warehouse on the outskirts of the city. As they arrived, they saw numerous cars surrounding the warehouse, heightening the officers' suspicions that something significant was happening inside. Locci felt a surge of anticipation, knowing they were close to uncovering the truth.

The officers exited their cars and swiftly barged into the warehouse. They pointed their pistols at the people inside and shouted in unison, "Police! You are under arrest!"

With that, they successfully arrested many criminals on the spot. They found plenty of evidence to support the arrests, including the animals used in the tournament. The police carefully took the animals into custody, knowing they had struck a significant blow against the illegal operation.

Although they successfully stopped the tournament and arrested many criminals, they couldn't find the key organizer, Kaiser Washington. While many officers were satisfied with the operation's outcome, Patrick was not. As he watched the criminals being led to the patrol cars, he muttered, "This isn't enough. If we don't arrest Kaiser, another tournament will just take its place."

"Can't we just go to his house and arrest him on the spot?" Locci asked.

"It doesn't work like that," Patrick replied, frustration evident in his voice. "We need solid evidence."

"Evidence, huh?" Locci mused, a determined glint in his eye. "I think I know a way we can get the evidence to arrest Kaiser Washington."

"Tell me about it," Patrick said, his curiosity piqued.

Locci smirked. "If you follow my plan, we'll need to wait patiently for several hours," he said.

Patrick agreed to follow Locci's plan and parked their car at the roadside near a river. This river wasn't the same one where the homeless people that Locci knew lived; it was located next to it.

They headed to the river because Locci was confident that Duke Washington would appear. He deduced this from their encounter the day before when Duke had tossed an Arapaima Gigas into the water. Plus, based on news reports, Locci suspected that Duke made a habit of releasing predator fish into the river daily.

"It's 12:05 PM now. He's late by five minutes. Are you sure he'll come?" Patrick asked, a hint of doubt in his voice.

"Don't worry, I'm confident he'll come," Locci reassured, his confidence unwavering. "He wouldn't throw a predator fish at the same location every day. If he threw one near my area yesterday, then he'll come here today."

As Locci uttered those words, a familiar car glided to a stop by the tranquil banks of the river. From its sleek confines emerged Duke, flanked by his two imposing bodyguards. With purpose etched into their every movement, they bore a large casket between them as they strode towards the water's edge, their intent unmistakable.

Observing this ominous procession, Locci and Patrick wasted no time, swiftly closing the distance before Duke and his entourage could carry out their sinister task. With a sense of urgency propelling them forward, they intercepted the group just as they were about to cast a predator fish into the river.

"Police! Drop your weapons!" Patrick's voice rang out, commanding authority and demanding compliance from Duke and his bodyguards.

Locci smirked, leveling his pistol at Duke. "We meet again, fat boy," he remarked, his tone laced with amusement.

"You! You're a cop?" Duke asked, his surprise evident in his voice.

"We'll be the ones asking the questions. Drop the casket and kneel on the ground," Locci commanded.

Duke raised his hands in surrender. "I've been waiting for the police to arrest me. Let's make a deal. If you agree, I'll tell you everything about my brother," he proposed.

Locci and Patrick exchanged a surprised glance. They hadn't expected Duke to surrender so easily, let alone offer to cooperate and provide information about Kaiser Washington.

"What should we do, sir?" Locci asked.

"What's wrong? Hasn't my brother been a hindrance to the police in this city for a few years?" Duke inquired.

Patrick chuckled. "You're more clever than you look, fat boy. Sure, why not? Let's hear what you have to say back at the office."

They took Duke and his bodyguards into custody. Surprisingly, they did not resist but followed peacefully to the police station.

As they gathered in the interrogation room, Patrick immediately began questioning Duke. "So, what is the reason you want to reveal all your brother's secrets?" he asked.

"Nothing special. I want to be the successor of our family. He's in my way," Duke admitted.

Patrick grinned. "What an ambitious answer. I almost trust you. But, kid, if you want me to trust you, I need information first."

"I'll naturally give you information about my brother, but first things first," Duke said. "I came here because I want to make a deal with the police. If I provide the information, I want my name cleared. I don't want to be implicated in any underground criminal activity."

Patrick gave him a playful smile and nodded. "Very well, you have my word. I'll even clear you of your illegal fish dumping activities."

After Patrick gave his promise, Duke began to reveal all the information he had about Kaiser Washington. In exchange, Duke and his bodyguards were allowed to leave, but under one condition: they had to act as spies in the upcoming mission to catch Kaiser Washington.

That night, a large contingent of police officers stormed Kaiser Washington's hiding place, located in one of the buildings owned by Washington Corporation. The officers methodically searched each room, inspecting everyone still inside the building. The air was thick with tension and determination as they moved through the halls, intent on finding Kaiser and his accomplices.

Meanwhile, Locci and Patrick stayed outside, positioned at a strategic spot. They had discovered a hidden entrance to a secret tunnel used for transporting illegal animals for the tournament. Eyes fixed on the concealed entry, they waited with anticipation and resolve for the right moment to act.

After waiting for several minutes, the gate to the tunnel creaked open. Locci and Patrick raised their pistols, eyes fixed on the entrance. They held their breath, waiting to see who would emerge from the tunnel.

The figure emerging from the tunnel was a handsome man with sleek black hair and piercing hazel eyes. He widened his eyes slightly upon seeing the two police officers outside the entrance, but quickly regained his composure, flashing a calm smile. "I see, so my little brother has snitched on me," he remarked, his tone cool and collected.

"Sir, the description fits with our information. He's Kaiser Washington," Locci said.

"I know," Patrick said. He then glared at Kaiser. "Raise your hands. You're under arrest."
