"This is a bittersweet moment, students" chuckled the Pokémon Professor, "I've been teaching you all since you were kindergartners and now I finally get to watch you all take your next step in your journeys! However, not all of you will take this first step though I do wish that wasn't the case...only a select few ever pass the trainer exam and get to become pokémon trainers. But no matter what happens: I want you all to know I'm proud of the work you all put in,"
"Gramps, you're kinda dragging it now," spoke a spikey brown-haired boy.
Professor Oak frowned, his eyes turning to the troublemaker.
"Gary we've talked about this.". The newly-named Gary proceeded, to lift his hands in surrender.
"Hey don't shoot me, I'm just saying,"
"Do you always have to interrupt class all the time?" complains a girl sitting right next to him. Gary simply smirks at the brunette girl.
"I don't see you having a problem with class getting interrupted when you're doing it,"
"Oh please when have I ever interrupted class?" the girl scoffs.
Gary leaned back in his school chair. "Well, there was the time you interrupted class to complain about how sexist it is there's more gym leaders than females,"
"All I'm saying is that there are three female gym leaders out of eight we can do better,"
"There was the time you got into a fistfight with Stephanie because she said 'caterpie looked ugly'"
"First off, it wasn't a fistfight I just pushed her! Second, she didn't just say they looked ugly she said any girl who likes them is an ugly weirdo! I was just teaching her to watch her mouth," Leaf protested.
"How about the time you and Jessica were debating about which rock Gym Leader was hotter Roark or Brock?"
"Okay okay, whatever you made your point!" Green groans out. "Yeah and so did you, roark may be a pretty boy but Brock's got those rock-hard abs!" Gary spoke while doing an impression of Leaf's voice.
Hahahaha!

The classroom erupts into small fits of laughter. Oak couldn't help but chuckle a bit at his class's antics.
They were a lively bunch he'd say, and his grandson was the core of that chaos. A soft smile graced his face at thinking about his grandson. He had grown up so much that it felt almost like yesterday when the young boy tried stupidly running into the tall grass with Leo.
He knew Gary would go on to do great things there was no doubt in my mind. However, he would need to get past his ego if he wanted to make it big. It's good for a trainer to be confident but it's detrimental for a trainer to be cocky. And Gary suffered from that issue. On the thought of Gary, he couldn't help but turn towards Leo.
The boy in question was looking out the glass window. That boy was talented but he also had his own issues to work through.
"Okay, let's stop messing around and let's begin your exam!" Oak says before he begins handing out the paper.
Leo's POV
"Leo, get up!"
I heard an elderly voice speak to me. Looking up from my desk and rubbing my eyes I saw the professor standing in front of me.
"Oh hey, Professor," I say before looking around and noticing that most of the class was gone with some still packing their things. "Leo the bell rang it's lunch right now," he said groaning a bit. I must have fallen asleep after finishing my exam. However, judging by the emotions I was sensing from him. "Relax professor I finished my exam," I say trying to ease his worries.
"Mmmm...just making sure you do have a bad habit of dosing off in class sometimes," The professor, "And this exam is pretty important Leo,". "Trust me, Prof. I'm aware–but you worry too much I'll be fine,"
Despite my words, I could sense a lot of doubt and also...suspicion?
"I also trust you didn't use your...talent to cheat did you?" he said. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at him,
"No, I meant what I said during our talk I'd pass the test on my own merit and skill, no cheating. Just like we agreed,"
That was a blatant lie I tried using my powers during the exam at least five times. But it wasn't any help. It took me a lot of focus and effort to use my abilities. And beyond getting a few answers for section 1 it didn't help that much. But the professor didn't need to know that. Plus there weren't any actual rules against me using my powers. Just the professor's morals and feelings on fairness. And even though I admired the professor.
I admired the idea of succeeding a lot more.
He still smiled at my lie, making me cringe internally but I didn't let it show. "Good to hear Leo. I know you think I'm pestering you about this but it'll be good for you,"
"Whatever you say, Prof I'm gonna go for lunch," I grabbed my bag and headed out the classroom saying bye to the Professor.
As I walked through the corridors of my school I felt kinda nervous. Despite everything, I wasn't sure if I passed the exam or not. I mean...I'm pretty sure I did good but still, I could be wrong. Plus, it's embarrassing if I cheated on an exam and still failed. I sighed internally at that train of thought.
I wrote what I wrote.
There's no point in worrying about it now. Besides, the practical portion is coming up! I know I'm gonna pass that.
Smiling to myself, I headed to the cafeteria. I was hungry since I skipped breakfast today. I wonder if I can convince June to share some of her snacks...
