Chapter 3: Adventurer's Guild
" Well, introductions are in order, so I'll start first. My name is Tobias Franks. I'm a former 3-Black Star adventurer, who is also now the Guild Master for the Human Guild. The main branch is located here in Nadin. I am also the Guild Master here. I'm guessing you have a lot of questions, so I'll keep blabber about myself to a minimum and start answering your questions." The man said with a smile as he had sat behind his desk.
The room was plain, it had a desk and a chair by the window, a few plants and a lot of books. Most seemed like accounting books, probably records from past missions and personal info on adventurers. Enn didn't actually want to be here as he had previously kind of disrespected a king. His eyes cautiously darted around the room securing an escape route, should things go that bad.
"Damn, I don't have a single gun on me, all I've got is an army knife. Had I know something like this was gonna happen, I would've at least grabbed a handgun," Enn cursed inside. Dragoncross had a habit of distributing specialized guns for each assignment. All the person had to bring, was a knife if he wanted. Generally in a city as a youth, that knife is all you need. Seeing Enn securing an escape route , Tobias only smiled and sighed inside, " This kid has probably seen more blood than the soldiers in this country. The Demons have been dormant for the past 800 years, the moment they showed signs of movement, this happens."
When he saw that Enn had calmed down a bit, he decided to clarify a few things to make him more at ease, "You see, the demons have been dormant for the past 800 years and have only recently started showing signs of movement. The moment that happened, that idiot king decided to summon people from another world to fight in a war the have zero relation with, instead of doing something about it themselves. The reason I took you here and under my protection like that was because I admired your character."
He took a big breath before continuing, "From your aura I could tell that you are a soldier. Like before, you always eyed for an escape route before settling in. The other people seemed like normal civilians, who have never held a blade in their hand. The king threw away 3 major cities and for what, 4 people who have zero combat experience and then there's you, a young soldier, who actually had enough brains to tell the king to take a hike." The more Tobias talked, the more he seemed like a grumpy old man, who was complaining to his drinking buddies about politics. This was a bizarre sight that put Enn at ease for the first time in 5 years.
"Ha ha ha ha...." Enn couldn't hold it in anymore and started laughing. Tobias looked with a surprised face but the next moment he had a gentle expression on, like the one a father looks his child with. After laughing for a while, Enn calmed down and lowered his guard as well. "Well, seems like you don't worship the king like a blind idiot. Seems like I can trust you a bit. What did you mean by the King threw away thee major cities?"
Turning back to the topic at hand, Enn asked with a serious expression. There was praise in Tobias's eyes, when he answered, " The cities huh. The cities were destroyed by the rebound of the summoning magic. a rebound is what happens when a magic fails, for low level magic the effects vary like burning yourself or draining all your mana but high-leveled spells like this summoning magic, a rebound creates a crater that is 30 km in diameter, if you're inside the blast radius. .. Poof you're gone. The summoning magic failed 3 times before it succeeded with your patch." By the end of the story you could see hatred inside Tobias's eyes.

"Judging from the look in his eyes, if he weren't the Guild Master, he would've probably already gone berserker inside the palace." Enn thought to himself after hearing the story, his face got pretty ugly as well. " For the sake of summoning 5 people they nuked 3 cities, killing millions. That is a clear Mad King syndrome." while thinking that, he remembered all the stories he had read on kings that did genocidal things.
"Changing the topic a bit, you said you are the "Human Guild Master". Does that mean there are other races here?" Enn asked with a brighter face while trying to change the topic. Tobias understood the sentiment and gladly followed, " Well, there are 4 major races: Humans, Best men, Elves and Demons. There are also ghosts and magical beasts. The beast men have 2 major categories - Full and Half. In the Full Beast mans blood , the beast blood is major while humans is supplementary. Half is vice versa. Elves have many kinds of different elves, praerie, wood, dark etc. Mainly classified by where they live. Demons, they just have a lot of subspecies." They chatted back and forth like that for a couple more hours.
All'n'all Enn learned a lot about the world and it's inhabitants. Apparently, one continent of this plane is about as big as Earth was. He also learned a lot about the diffrent magical items there are here. For example jade slips can record a persons thoughts or memories to show to another person. There are magical pills as well mainly done by the Alchemist guild.
Another thing that picked his interest was a Spacial Ring. The Spacial Ring was a special magic tool that could store other things, though not live ones. Depending on the grade of a Spacial Ring it held a 5x5m space. 50x50m space, 500x500m space or a 5000x5000m space. It was shaped like a square box
Although the last is a extremely rare one, only people with a enormous status or incredible luck, can have one.The 500x500m Spacial ring is classified as high quality one and a market price for it is 50 thousand gold coins. The cheapest is a low quality one and costs around 1000 Gold coins. In this world was a simple and universal money system: 100 Copper= 1 Silver, 100 Silvers= 1 Gold, 1000 Gold= 1 Black Gold coin.
Enn decided to stay at the Guild for the night, per Guild Masters request. Since he had no money what so ever, he decided to take up the offer. He was shown to a plain room with a bookshelf, bed, one closet, desk and a chair. Before the guild master decided to retire for the night, he remembered to ask, "I almost forgot, you never said what your name is?"
Enn thought for a second and answered with a smiling face, "Nalser vi Dragoncross."
