Quest 2 Part 4 [Live experiment #1]
As the two stand in front of each other preparing for the fight, staring at each other with look that might kill, a sudden event interrupts them. In the adrenaline filled desperate situation, one of the two suddenly collapses to the side leaving only a splash of blood in the place of the head.
No one notices what happened for a second, when a loud noise vibrates through the air. As Lilium looks to the right she notices that even beyond the first victim, at least five more death were caused by the same attack. Large holes on the body, a loud sound, she knew immediately what happened.
“Girls! On the ground! Keep your head on the ground and close your ears!” She shouts at them and let her own body fall on her stomach in the same way. She has no time to check to others, when the barrage begins. From the corner of her eyes she can see fifty soldiers in weird clothes with weapons in their hands that should not exist here. Rifles. Guns. They slowly walk forward in a double arrowhead formation, one step at a time, at speed that they can calmly take aim and shoot without stopping. This goes for more than thirty seconds without rest. Then the first arrowhead stops and the second comes forward. Under half a second the barrage continued while the other reloads in the back.
A distance away Aurora sits on a large armchair with more than ten people in front of her, showing their backs. They are all watching the breathtaking scene in front of them. She herself started it with the first shot, testing the only sniper rifle she made. Of course it was a huge success. The people in front of her are the research magicians of the guild. Their purpose is to watch the weapons in action.
“They are amazing. I had no idea such a frightening weapon can exist. Mages will be useless in a fight when using weapons like these.”
“Yes, they are. The Princess will have nothing to stop her. We have to work these old bones extra hard or she will leave us in shame.” One of the older one jokes.
When I hears such talk, she can’t help but chuckle. I decide to quietly listen to their conversation and not to talk unless needed.
“I understand and thank thee. But what about the guns themselves what do thee think? In my opinion they have many flaws that needs to be corrected before production.” I interrupt them to lead their conversation, since they forgot what their work actually is here. They all go quiet for a while, then start to drop ideas.
“The cooling is inefficient. Five man dropped their weapons and ten guns seemed to break. Most likely overheat. The safety setting disabled them before a serious incident happened.”
“Yes. About the formation, I think it’s wasteful. How about we put 30% on the back only?”
“It might be better that way.”
“I think so too. The rounds are very powerful and quite cheap, but the magic is hard to replenish. We should create a large mana storage and pay for people filling their mana in. This way we will always have enough mana to distribute.”
“We could just create a mana gathering device?” Mumbles someone, but he is heard only by Aurora.
“How about trying multiple barrels?” Like a minigun? I like that idea.
“They will melt from the heat, don’t even think about it.” You don’t even know- I smile thinking that.
In the battlefield the soldiers still walk ahead calmly as their harsh training bears it’ fruits. They are failed assassins, but good enough for loyal soldiers. I had a little ‘mental’ training session with them, for the sake of keeping information safe. The result is more than I could ask for. As they walk forward enemies upon enemies fell dead on their tracks, not even understanding what is happening.
They walk forward going into the enemy camp without any form of hardship, without really stopping once.
I want to make clear. This is not a war. It’s not an battle. It’s not even a fucking fight. It’s a massacre. More than a thousand of dead on the ground, motionless, not breathing. Their blood flows and paints the field in red as it’ve never been in history. They were civilians a few weeks ago, but now they are dead rebels. They choose this, and I can’t save them anymore. The moment they decided to plunder and rape with them, they stopped being my citizens. I made this clear with the voice of the criers, those who harm our own, are not our own anymore. They are but enemies.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
I put the chair behind me int the storage, using a magic crystal as a catalyst I can do such a thing with ease. This crystal is special a bit, since it has affinity, and is made of 50 thousand mana. It took a lot of high level potions to make this. Call me a pay to win cheater, but I will gladly do it for the success.
With a whistle I call the small dragon to me. It’s still a hatchling but the size is more than enough to ride on it’s back. It can’t fly though. How lame do I look? Probably- very. Let’s pretend this is a dinosaur. Don’t look at me with those puppy eyes! I know that you are intelligent but you are a dragon for god’s sake!
“You called me?” A female voice resounded in my ears.
“No, I didn’t.”
“How cold. I just wanted to tell you that you completed half the quest, since you never checked. And that I was bored. And that I’m proud of you giving me such a huge sacrifice, I gained a lot of darkness power thanks to you. If you ever attacked by another god, just wish for my help.”
“Wait, another god attacking me? What? Are you serious? Hey! Answer me!” I plead in my head, be she won’t respond. In the end is she my friend? Enemy? Neutral? I don’t know anything, and that is the most frightening. This woman, Achlys is very dangerous that’s for sure.
I ride the dragon to the battlefield and check the ground with magic. I feel that there are some survivors hiding under the corpses, so I point them out. I make sure that the Testers are captured to be interrogated and the rest killed.
About those prostitutes that tried to flee. Such a coincidence. Nope, there is no way in hell that I’ll believe such a thing is by chance. It was probably a “god”. Only one of them seems useful...
I approach them directly and jump off the dragon-horse. I stare at their backs for a while. They are close to the forest, almost at the end of the plain. The grass is fairly large so they could have escaped if not for those guys. I use [Analyze], the higher level of appraise. It can’t be used on myself and I did not bother too much with it.

Woah, it’s a lot more information than I expected. I also received indirect knowledge of the injuries and weak points I can see. Useful one. I called it though, it was that woman with the god complex.
“Don’t make me wait any longer, Purpula Lilium. I have a deal for you. You work for me and you can have the other women as your servants or whatever. Else, I erase their memories and send them to Siberia.”
To this, I feel with the mana sense that her pulse is getting faster. Hit the mark didn’t I? It did not take a genius to see how concerned she was for them, she could have escaped from there by herself anyways.
“I won’t repeat myself.” I say and turn around, mounting the dragon.
She lifts her head looking up to me and I stare at her back. This silence is very awkward, but who am I to judge. Since she is still silent, I turn around a leave, but the voice stops me.
“Wait. Wait! I will! I promise! Just promise in exchange that you will take care of them!”
I ponder a little then face her again. With a serious expression on me I decide to explain how things will go here in the shortest way possible.
“No. I won’t take care of them.” I watch as her eyes darken a shade. “ I will give you power so you can take care of them yourself. I can’t look after all and every person in this world.” I was a total asshole, but seeing that delighted and dumbfound expression I wov it was worth it. It was a low level carrot and the stick trick, I should practice it a little later.
“Now go and… You know what? I have no time to talk about this. I still have rebels left to massacre.” This time I quickly turn around and return to the researchers at full speed.
I can’t believe that I suck this much at normal conversations. If I don’t get any better this country will be ruined. Nah, I can just use my ruler persona.
