As the group travels back towards Neldam, Lee decides to look at his class quests… He just can’t figure out how. Speaking to Neia, Lee asks with an embarrassed tone. “Neia, how do I look at my class quests?” Before Neia can even respond, Ruvan bursts out in laughter. “There should be something next to your class on your status page. Picked your class immediately to do one on the way back and couldn’t figure out how to look at it?”
Lee keeps following Neia forward as he tries to ignore Ruven's chuckling from behind. Lee brings up his status.

Seeing a small mark next to his class name, Lee tries to interact with it. Suddenly, a new screen opens.
Path of the Healer. 1/5
Heal a total of five hundred health.
Reward: 100 XP
Path of the Spellcaster. 1/5
Cast five spells of Advanced tier or higher.
Reward: 100 XP
Lee reads his two paths and decides to ask some questions before attempting one. “I have two paths in my class quest screen. Will doing one lock me out of the other? Also they have one out of five listed next to the name of the paths.”
Neia slows down her pacing through the forest to answer more easily. “The paths are a common representation of a class quest layout. You won’t be locked out of one, you can work on them both freely. The numbers next to the name represent the numbers of quests in the path. Once you finish one quest in a path, another will appear. Once you finish all the quests in a path you might get more paths, or the layout might change.” Glancing over her shoulder to gaze at Lee, she asks. “Can you complete any of your current quests out here?”
Nodding, Lee replies, “I can easily do one of them, cast five advanced or higher spells, the other is possible but requires healing five hundred health.” Lee catches Neia’s small smirk as she turns back to the front. “Oh, both are easily done then.”
Ruven feels a cold chill run down his spine as they continue towards Neldam.
They reach the end of the day with no further encounters and make camp for the night. While setting up his sleeping bag by the fire, Lee see’s that Ruven went out to catch something to eat. Deciding that this was a fine time, Lee starts to ask Neia some questions. “So, if you can cast infinite basic spells like I can, why don’t you use magic more often?”
Neia smiles at Lee as she fixes her braided hair, “My class is not only for casting spells, I have a hybrid class. A lot of my class quests require melee combat and Ruven wouldn’t get anything out of our trips if I just killed everything, or he might be targeted if I sat back like him and casted from afar non stop.” She glances meaningfully at Lee. “Remember that it’s not only you with quests and the never ending goal of leveling up. Others are out and about, with their own classes and goals.”
Lee looks into the fire and thinks for a moment. I’ve never really thought of what others needed for their classes much. Did I mess up a lot of peoples XP by healing everybody at the clinic? What about the priest? Did he gain XP by leading me to each of the gods and goddesses? I need to think about why people do things more often. Also what about my stat points? Without the need for mana for my basic spells, maybe I can put some points into my physical stats to at least get them to average. Lee puts two points into his dexterity and one point into strength, bringing them to ten and eight respectively.
Lee is broken out of his thoughts as Ruven appears with a Jackalope in his hands, smiling widely. Lee blanches and looks back into the fire as Ruven chuckles. “It’s not that bad.” Ruven tosses the Jackalope to Neia, who promptly loots the corpse. Neia starts to cook some of the Jackalope as she speaks to Lee, “Go ahead and cast some spells for your quest before you sleep to not waste mana.”
Lee goes to the side of the camp and casts Icicle Spear five times. With his class bonus, instead of the spell costing one hundred mana, it only costs twenty-five, letting him complete his very first class quest.

Easiest 100 XP I've ever gotten. Casting three more Icicle Spears, Lee starts on his new quest.
Finishing up with his spells, Lee settles down on top of his sleeping bag next to the fire. A few moments later, Ruven hands Lee a chunk of Jackalope meat. Sighing, Lee eats the offered food and begins to get ready for sleep.
Waking up the next morning with Neia nudging him with her foot, Lee begins to store his things. While doing so, Lee decides to cast seven more Icicle Spears, nearly emptying his mana and completing his second class quest.

Looking towards Neia and Ruven packing up, Lee says. “Newest class quest is to create three spells. I might work on that while traveling.” Taking out his last three strudels, he hands out breakfast to the group.
Neia happily munches on her strudel while acknowledging Lee. “Just make sure not to aim at any of us. If you attract attention, we will be able to handle anything this close to Neldam, so don’t worry too much.”
Finishing their breakfast, the group heads back onto their journey.
While traveling, Lee thinks about what spells he wants to try and create. While doing so, he begins to look at his ever increasing spell and skill sections on his status.

Happier with his new status look, Lee glances around his surroundings for any threats, before thinking about spell creation once again.
I currently lack any way to move quickly, so I should look for a spell to help with that, also a way to hamper my opponent will be nice. The slowing and freezing effects of Ice and Glacial seem like good inspiration.
After pondering for a minute, Lee decides on a spell to create, but he needs a target. Turning to Ruven with a smile, Lee asks. “Ruven, would you be willing to be my test subject for my spell? It’s a non damaging spell.” Ruven’s green eyes focus on Lee, he suspiciously asks. “What are the effects on this spell?” Lee, still with his plastic smile replies. “I want to attempt to create a spell that hampers my enemies' sight.”
Ruven eases a bit and whistles for Neia to stop. “Lee is going to try and cast a debuff on me, hold on for a minute.” Neia nods and replies with a smile. “A great type of spell. Most go purely for offensive magic, debuffs and buffs are fantastic spells for a group.” Lee finally caves in and asks, “I remember you mentioning buffs before, are debuffs the opposite?” Nodding enthusiastically, Neia responds. “Correct, debuffs debilitate your enemies and buffs embolden your allies. Fantastic spells for a supportive role.”
Ruven nods as well, “She is correct, go ahead and attempt your spell.”
Focusing on his Dark affinity, Lee tries to use his dark mana to cloud Ruven's optical senses, blocking the light entering his eyes.
Spell Created!
Spell name: Blind
Spell Description: Using dark mana smother natural light entering the eyes, blinding your opponent.
Chance to inflict Blind debuff.
Cooldown: 30 Seconds.
Looking and waving his hand in front of Ruven's face to inspect his spell, Lee recoils in surprise when Ruvens eyes lock onto Lee with mirth. “Don’t forget, we elves get wisdom when we level.”
Lee brings up the information on wisdom once more to refresh his memory.
Wisdom:
* Reflects mental strength, giving insight and perception beyond physical senses.
* Can improve the ability to resist spells or perceive hidden secrets.
* Increases Mana by 10 per point.
Resist spells. Lee realizes what happened. His spell was resisted, but since it was cast correctly and worked as it should he successfully created his spell. “Well, I created the spell. I only have to create two more. I was thinking about a buff to speed for my next one, so another air spell. What do you guys think?”
Neia nods and says, “A movement buff is nice, but you can also create a spell for movement itself. Also, it doesn’t have to be air you know.” She winks with her glowing green eyes towards Lee. “I know, but I have trouble imagining anything other than wind immediately. In my world that’s how we figured out how to fly.” Lee replies.
Neia nods, “Well, you can always create more spells later. You don’t need a single movement spell. Go on and test your buff.” She motions at Lee with her hand.
Lee attempts to use air mana to create a screen of wind in front of himself to block the incoming air drag when moving, almost instantly after starting, Lee feels a pushback to his will and the spell collapses. Well, I had to fail making a spell eventually.
Lee motions for Neia to continue on the journey. “Go ahead, I failed, this one is going to take a bit to figure out.” Shrugging Neia leads them forward once more as Lee brainstorms a buff spell for movement.
