Chapter 22 - Path Decided.

Waking up and checking his pocket watch, Lee saw that it was 8AM. Lee got up, washed his mouth with Create Water, and stored all his purchases from the day before. Kitchen stocked and house filled with some necessities, Lee wanted to head towards the clinic first.

Leaving his home and arriving at the clinic, he navigated the building to reach Anya’s office. Knocking, he waited. After a few moments it seemed that she wasn’t in her office. Lee backtracked towards the reception and waited his turn to ask about her location.

When it was his turn, the receptionist looked at him like a fish out of water. “Genesis? What can I do for you?” Lee sighed, This title is going to be a headache. “I’m looking for Anya, we have important matters to discuss. Do you know where she might be? She wasn’t in her office.” Nodding, she replied. “Anya is with a patient right now. She should be out momentarily. I’ll let her know you’re here.” Lee nods and replies. “I’ll be with the in-patients if there are any. Go ahead and tell Anya to find me there.” Leaving to go heal who he needed to.

Arriving at the other wing through the connection, he checked for any in-patients, there weren't any. Glancing around the urgent care room, most of the people here were waiting because of physical injuries. Hmm. Might as well. “I will make my way around the room and heal everybody, please wait patiently.” The tired waiting eyes of the roughly ten people waiting brightened. Usually they wait a long while because of the healers needing to wait for mana. No issue with Healer’s Touch.

While finishing with the last person in the room, Anya walks in. She looks around the empty room with a sigh. “You know we are supposed to get paid for treating people right? You just lost us a lot of money for no emergency.” Lee realized that he was in the wrong. “I’m sorry, there were no in-patients and I figured I'd help when I was here. I wasn’t thinking about the clinic's finances.”

Anya looks at Lee and then pauses, an expression of disbelief growing on her face. ”You fucking did it didn’t you? Genesis of Healing?” Flabbergasted, she sits down in the chair with her hands in her head. “Oh gods, I thought you were boasting.” Her hands started to tremble. “Can you teach it or create a spell book or scroll? We will buy the spell at any cost.”

Lee see’s her trembling hands and shock and realizes she never thought he would actually do it. Feelings slightly hurt, he answers. “I don’t know how long it will take to teach everything but I'm willing to try. I don’t know anything about spell books or scrolls, if that's an easier way of helping then I'm willing to do that. I need to create one more spell to help with illnesses, then I will have a health restoring spell, cancer curing spell, and illness curing spell.”

Anya, still trembling, nods hurriedly. "Spell books are created by infusing mana into special paper, which records the spell. The recipient can touch the paper and absorb the spell's feeling and process, effectively teaching them the spell. A spell book is a collection of spells, while a spell scroll is a one-time-use teaching. Spell books are costly due to the need for high-quality materials and processing to create the paper. The clinic will purchase the required paper if you’re willing to create a spell book. What else would it cost?” Anya seems to be almost frantic with trying to get her hands on a spell book for healing spells.

Lee asks Anya, “How much do spell books normally cost to make?” Anya replies instantly. “Generally around three-hundred gold.” Lee almost falters where he’s standing. Jesus Christ that's expensive. That's just the material cost! “And how much would a spell book be sold for?” Anya’s trembling eyes go wide. “Upwards of five hundred…” She trails off. Lee nods slowly. “So, a spell book full of learnable healing spells never before seen to the world?” Anya realizes where Lee is going with this. “It’s a risk but think about the good.”

Lee sits down in a chair and thinks to himself for a moment. Anya just stares at him hopeful. After a few minutes Lee stands with determination. “Well Anya, it appears I found a goal for myself. I will let your whole clinic and five others you deem appropriate learn healing magic with a spell book.” Anya looks relieved. Lee looks at her seriously, catching her eyes. He continues “The spell book will be in my possession, and it will be mine and mine alone.”

Anya’s joy fades slightly. “You will not let us have one? We cannot create one ourselves, you can only create a spell book with spells you’ve created, not learned or been given.” Lee didn’t know this, but he is firm in his decision. “I will hold a class to teach how and why healing works, eventually and hopefully, you will all be able to create healing spells.” Lee decides whether to trust Anya with his next set of words. “I cannot stay in Neldam forever. This isn’t the only place that requires healing magic. I will eventually leave with the spell book and do the same across the world. Eventually everybody will have healing magic, and it’s up to me to make that happen.”

Nodding Lee stands, “Go ahead and get the materials for the spell book and we can get started, it won't cost you anything other than the material cost. I need to head to the consortium to tell them of the element used for healing…” Looking towards Anya he asks, “Will you all need to learn the advanced Life element for healing to learn from the spell book?” Anya shakes her head, “If you let the consortium know of the information about the element, most people can learn advanced in a week. It wouldn’t be possible without the element. We are going to have to learn it. What basics does it consist of?” Lee answers her. “Earth and Light make Life. I understand light is not common. I’m sure there are other elemental combinations for healing, we just need to find them. I’ll be on my way, leave a letter at my home telling me when you need me for the spell book.” Lee walks away, leaving Anya sitting in her chair.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

Once outside, Lee thinks about what he just said. I’m going to get this spell book and teach healing across the world. Smiling and looking at the colorful lighted lanterns, he walks towards the consortium. I’ll need to get some levels and grow much stronger if I want to travel the wilds of this world. I need to find Ruven and Neia to see if they want to join me on my little trip for level five.

A few moments later he’s at the consortium. Walking into the halls he goes to the front desk. “I need to meet with Nitis Sindris, I have important information.” The receptionist looks up and his jaw drops to the floor. “Yes sir Genesis. I will let him know.” At least the title gets me respect. I need a dictionary.

Sitting down he only had to wait a minute or two before a door opened across the room with Nitis walking out of it. Meeting eyes Lee stands up, beginning his approach to meet halfway. Lee speaks as Nitis notices the title. “I have information you most likely want.” Lee says with a wry smile. Nitis coughs lightly. “Of course, let us go to my office. Much more private.” They walked back through the door Nitis arrived from, arriving in a larger room with many office doors.

While walking Lee asked a question. “What is your relation to Neia if I may ask?” Nitis glances at Lee and smiles. “She is my daughter. Here we are.” Walking into the office, it’s just as you’d imagine a scholar's office would be like. Scrolls and paper litter everywhere, bookshelves stocked to the brim and an ink stained desk.

They both sit down and get to business. “So what information would you like to share, Sir Genesis of Healing?” He asks in a tone that obviously indicates that he’s asking about the title. Lee smiles. “Turns out you get a fancy title when you create healing magic. I must be honest, I don’t even know what the word genesis means.” Nitis was eyes wide and mouth agape for only a moment. “Creating healing magic? What elemental combination did it require?” Lee smiles. “The Life element. Earth and Light together make Life. That’s also information I wanted to tell you.” Nitis smiles warmly. “Well this is more than i had hoped for! I shall let you know what genesis means. It means the origin of something, or the finding of revolutionary information towards a given field. In your case healing, the origin of creating healing magic.”

Lee smiles warmly, “Origin of healing sounds much better than Genesis of healing. People are calling me Genesis or Sir Genesis of Healing.” Nitis nods. “Anya has been through much with her title, it brings attention to you no matter where you go. Was there anything else you wanted to share or needed?” Lee nods, “Yes, if you can tell me where Neia's home is or if you can at least tell her I want to talk, I would appreciate it.” Nitis nods. “I don’t know if she wants you to know where she lives, but I will let her know you asked for her.” Lee accepts that. Wouldn’t want to give my daughters address away either.

Lee stands and shakes Nitis’s hand. “Anya is getting the materials for a spell book for me. I’m going to add my healing spells inside it. If you have anybody who wants to learn from it, I will be teaching a course at the clinic soon about the concepts of the spell. Anybody is welcome.” Nitis shakes his hand back. “I will disseminate the information and help with the costs of the spell book for the information you gave today. Best of luck Lee.”

Lee checks the time and see’s it’s around 11AM. He goes for lunch and a large stack of paper at the general store. Lee then went back to his house. Having nothing to do today, he thought he would plan out his lessons for teaching people how to create healing spells of their own.

After many hours of writing and thinking, using Darken to save on ink of course. He came up with a nice lesson plan. Starting from hygiene and why people do it, all the way to cells. Xanders perfect memory would have come in very handy here, cutting the prep time from hours to probably twenty minutes. Already made my choice. Shaking his head, he wants to go back to the clinic to talk with Anya about how to set up the lessons. Before he can leave he gets a knock at the door.

Answering the door stands Neia, much happier than she was with him previously. Lee lets her inside and she says. “You actually did it huh, I didn’t believe my father when he told me. What did you want to see me for?” Lee smiles back and has a ‘I have a favor’ look. “Well, I wanted to ask if you and Ruven wanted to go with me into the forest to help me reach level five. I got a blessing from Arcani, and can only have five spells at once. It’s a whole ordeal so I don’t think I'll be capable of being lonesome.

Neia looks at him. “You wouldn’t be capable of being fine on your lonesome anyways. I know what your physical stats are, remember?” She teases him. “I will go with you, I will ask Ruven as well. I don’t know when we will be ready but let me know when you want to go. We will see about matching dates.” Lee smiles and nods. “Thanks a lot.” Lee casts Mend Wounds on Neia, startling her. “Told you before, free healing for life.” Lee breaks out in a laugh and Neia stares at him in indignation.

“I changed my mind, I don't want to help you anymore. Nearly gave me a heart attack.” Neia says with a pout.
