Chapter 19 - Lost In The Woods

Chapter 19 - Lost In The Woods

After we were done with getting our equipment, we went looking for Luke’s group. They were inside one of the Large buildings near the Adventurers Guild.

The three large buildings were totally empty when we checked on them last time. But Luke’s group added some furniture there. Adam actually started to call it their royal palace.

Walter and Adam were both very similar. The dumb things they keep doing have actually made them good friends in just one day. On the other hand, Lily was getting a little better at trusting these people, but she was still very distant from them.

We met Luke’s group and told them about our plan of bringing the people from school over to the village. They were thrilled about that since they needed more people to develop and there was no telling if anyone else would be able to make their way to the village alive.

After that, we told our goodbyes to the group and set out of Orilon Village.

The outside of the village was still the same, totally destroyed by the massive fight that happened yesterday. This made it a little easier for us to cross through the forest, without worrying about being ambushed again.

After around 30 minutes of walking, we thought we were around where the mall was, but it was hard to tell since trees and grass now covered everything. The trip has actually been going too well till now we had not encountered one single monster.

I was actually planning on killing some goblins and earning some experience points. Level 10 was still far, and every time I leveled up the experience point requirement went up tremendously.

Right now we were out of the area where the griffon and the panther fought yesterday, so the place was starting to look more like a dense forest now.

The distance between the mall and the school was only about 30 minutes even with this environment, but for the last 2 hours, we were walking around the forest without a single clue about where we were.

We were lost.

Our source of navigation earlier was the buildings but now with the building gone, we didn’t even have an idea of which direction was which, since the tall ass trees covered up the sky.

After walking for another hour or so, I smelled something. It was not the smell of earth and wood that was all around the forest. The smell was distinctly different, it almost smelt sweet. It was a fruity taste but was much more intense and aromatic than any other fruit that I ever smelled.

But I was not sure what fruit this belonged to, it was almost a mixture of a mango and a watermelon.

Since we were just roaming around the forest with no way to find the school, so we decided to go and check the source of the smell.

What we saw was not that big of a tree, probably just about 15 feet tall. The first thing that got my eye was a pear-like fruit. But the fruit was red as if it had a burning fire inside. The tree only had one fruit, and the aroma of it got stronger as we got closer to it.

When we were only about a few steps away from the fruit, A giant serpent came out from behind the tree.

It had two horns and a giant head which could be compared in size to a human head. Just imagine an anaconda and make it more monstrous and ginormous. It had glistening black and purple scales, which made it look even more terrifying.

Without any warning it attacked us with a tail swing, Its tail was large enough to hit three of us at once and send us flying. I was the one standing at the front, resulting in me taking the full brunt of the attack.

It sent me flying through all the bushes and grass, and in the end I stopped after a head-on collision with a tree.

“-50 HP”

When I got up from the fall, I had blood leaking out of my mouth. I looked around for Walter and Lily. They were in a much better condition than me, although they also had scratches all over their body, but they were up and took a defensive stance.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

The serpent's whole body was now in front of the tree preparing to attack us. It was much bigger than we thought, it was probably around 20 feet long, with the thickness of a large man’s waits.

It was staring at us with its cold yellow eyes. I immediately used Identification on it.

*Prupleflame Serpent Lvl 10*

The moment I saw the level 10 behind its name I was unsure how this fight was going to turn out. This was the first time I was not sure of getting out of a fight alive.

While I was still trying to size up the snake, an arrow zapped through the air and hit the serpent on its head. All that the arrow left was a white mark on one of his scales. Looking at this, my heart was starting to pound even faster.

The serpent looked at Lily, who shot the arrow. Lily and Walter were slowly backing away from the serpent's attack range.

This pissed off the serpent, even more, it wrapped its tail around a giant tree. I was not sure what it was trying to do.

The serpent unrooted the giant tree, which would have taken around eight adults to wrap their arms around. And threw it toward where Walter and Lily were, I jump right at the tree with my Black Iron Staff in hand. I smashed the oncoming tree head-on in the middle of it, with a downward swing as if I was chopping wood.

It broke the tree in half making the two split halves fly in opposite directions. I ran straight in towards the serpent while shouting at Lily and Walter to attack from a distance.

Without giving any chance to the serpent, I readied my staff for a horizontal swing and leaped in for my attack. I was aiming for its neck but the moment I was about to make contact with it, the tail came flying towards me with incredible speed. In the last moment, I was somehow able to block it by holding my staff in a defensive position while holding it against my body.

The black iron staff took the hit without a single scratch, but I was sent flying 10 yards (30 ft) away. Although the staff took the attack head-on, my palm skin was peeled and I was starting to lose sensation in a few of my fingers.

I rolled on the ground a few times. I was able to stop myself somehow after impaling the staff into the ground.

I got up coughing out a mouthful of blood. With the increase in the level of pain tolerance, the pain was starting to fade away. Some of my fingers were bent backward, I grunted and bent them straight to their original position.

Now my hands were back in fighting shape again.

I was starting to get fired up. My muscles were tensing up as if they were ready to unleash full power.

Although I was looking like a hobo with my Lenin clothes torn up but, I had an excited smirk on my face.

“COME ON YOU SNAKE FUCK! COME SUCK MY BALLS”, I yelled at the snake. Although my goal was not to taunt the serpent, but the guy seemed super pissed off and it slithered toward me at an astounding speed.

I held my black iron staff in my right hand and ran straight to it, for a head-on clash. While running I activated Haste.

With the help of haste, this time I was much faster than the serpent. This took the serpent by surprise, and I was able to close in on him. I used every bit of my strength to swing the staff at the serpent's neck.

The staff had so much power behind it that instead of a crushing wound, the staff cut through anything that came in contact with it as if it were a sword. This left a gashing 4-inch deep wound on the snake's neck, which squirted out a ton of blood, coloring half of my body red.

*Staff Mastery Leveled Up*

The serpent did a loud ear-splitting hiss in pain, but the next moment his tail was right next to me, I was not able to react in time and took the full brunt of the attack on the right side of my body.

I was again sent flying a few yards length, this time I was thrown soo hard that the tree that I collided with broke down from the point of impact.

*-270 HP*

My right shoulder was dislocated, and a couple of my ribs were totally crushed.

I got up with the help of my staff but I was still a little dizzy. The serpent was slithering towards me fast. Right, when he was about to attack an arrow came flying and hit the serpent in its left eye. The eye was a bloody mess. The cold yellow eyes were now red with blood trickling out of them.

The serpent let a loud hiss of pain.

Then it looked for the attacker but was not able to find her. Lily who did the attack immediately hid behind a tree.

Without being able to find the attacker the serpent shifted his aggression toward me. But this time instead of a tail attack, the serpent looked up toward the sky and slowly started to manifest a purple ball of flame.
