Chapter 15 - Goblin Ambush

I grabbed another goblin and threw him in the same direction.

Everyone in our group had their jaws open, for a moment they stopped fighting and were staring at me in awe. The goblins which were close to me started to back away.

One of the archers in the trees fell down, and I rushed toward him. Without caring about anything I ran like crazy, I ran through the bushes and the tall grass, resulting in leaves and pollen getting stuck all over my body.

I found the goblin archer on the ground under a giant tree, holding a dagger. His short bow was on the ground, and the quiver was still at his back, with a few stone arrows on the ground.

He was trying to get up after his fall from the tree. Without giving him the time to do so, I took the axe out of my inventory and swung it down, splitting the guy vertically in half.

Another arrow came flying towards me, this one was heading straight to my head. I tilted my neck sideways as fast as possible. The arrow grazed my cheek and went below my ear.

Seeing how dangerous it was I took cover behind a tree, although my body was strong enough to not take any damage from the arrow, I didn’t was to risk losing my eyes.

I waited behind the tree for a few seconds until another arrow came flying and hit the ground near the tree. While the goblin shot the arrow I made sure to estimate its location. I ran toward where the goblin was and there it was, crouching atop a tree branch with its bow aiming right at me.

He shot the arrow at me and started climbing down the tree. I held the axe sideways and blocked the oncoming arrowing with the axe head. The goblin was down from the tree and started running, I threw the axe with full force towards it, and the goblin was split into two with his organs splattered everywhere.

The axe still kept going and hit a tree. The tree got a massive vertical crack from being hit by the axe. The crack went from the bottom to the top.

With one more swing the massive 30ft(914cm) tall tree would have been split in two.

I was waiting for more arrows to come flying but there were none. So without wasting much time I ran toward our group.

Lukes's group of seven along with Lily and Walter were fighting hard against the goblins. The place was filled with loud huffing noises and grunts.

I saw 2 unarmed goblins dead on the ground, now only 7 more were left. Although our group had an advantage in number now but the goblins still had three level 3 goblin warriors, which were giving our group a lot of problems.

Just at the moment when I was running towards them one of the goblin warriors swung his club sideways against Asmonds shoulder. Asmond fell to the ground sideways. The goblin warrior took his club above his head and was ready to smash it downwards. I activated Haste and ran as fast as I could.

Although I didn’t know the guy, but I didn’t want to be not able to protect someone if I wanted to. My reasoning was simple but my speed was not enough even with Haste activated, I couldn’t get there before the club smashed into Asmond and killed him.

Just then I saw Walter running toward the goblin warrior and tackling him. To my surprise, the goblin warrior was down on the ground and Walter was trying his best to hold him down.

Until then I got to the scene and grabbed the goblin warrior by his neck, lifting him and reliving Walter.

Walter: “Dude where did you go, I was about to die!”

“Nice work buddy!” I said to Walter while squeezing the life out of the goblin warrior's body.

I did not get into the fight yet, Although our group suffered some serious injuries they were still fighting hard. And Walter and Lily needed the experience point, if I kept killing all the monsters myself, they would forever be stuck at level 1.

Asmond dragged himself towards me and rested at the bottom of a tree. Luke, Assa, and Walter focused mainly on the last remaining goblin warrior while the others were dealing with the normal goblins.

One by one the normal goblins started falling down. And at last, after sustaining some serious injuries and exhausting a large amount of stamina, the goblin warrior was slain.

Walter and Lily both got to level 2 and were a few points away from level 3, they already had a good amount of experience from killing the goblin at school with my help.

While on the other hand, Luke’s group had 3 people leveling up to level 2. This made me realize how hard it would be to get enough experience points if I hunted with a group. Although it made the fight much easier, which was a big plus.

But the major problem was we had people with some serious injuries. Almost everyone except me had goblin bite marks on them, and as for Asmond the guy probably broke a few bones, resulting in him being incapable of much movement on his left arm.

We decided to take a rest at the bottom of a giant tree. The cool air breezing through our faces, the sound of the leaves, and the swaying of the tall grass, made the scenery look magical.

It was the kind of place where people would spend a lot of money to go on a vacation on, that is if there were no monsters.

We all sat down on the grass sighing with relief, although the group had sustained some serious injuries but no one was dead. I sat down and was leaning against the tree trunk, enjoying the beautiful view, and also from time to time checking on the surroundings in case of another monster ambush.

I opened up my stats, recalling the system telling me about some kind of achievement.

Lesser Regeneration was the skill that I got just now.

*Lesser Regeneration (Passive) (Uncommon) Lvl 1*

*Regeneration +1HP/s, can’t regrow body parts*

Although I had not lost much HP till now at all, but as per my estimate, without lesser regeneration, I was regenerating around 0.4 HP/s. But the +1HP/s would almost make me unkillable if the monster had a low attack power, plus add my high HP of 50, which was growing really fast. Unwavering Body was making my physical stats skyrocket with each level.

With each point in vitality, I felt like my bones and muscles got denser and I was also feeling a little taller, it was as if with every level up I was gaining half an inch to my height.

With the breezing wind blowing against my body, I started imagining myself being around 8ft(243cm) tall, with a giant muscular body. Walking around with people scared to look up to me. And me being strong enough to one punch a dragon to death.

Ohhh…that would be so nice. While dreaming about all these I decided to put 5 points on strength and 5 points on agility.

I was already very used to the invigorating feeling after the massive boost in my Strength and Vitality after each level-up. But a 5-point boost to agility felt different, It was not the same feeling as Vitality where the body is filled with a vigorous amount of energy, or the feeling of Strength where the muscles get denser and more powerful.

With agility, it felt as if every joint and every part of my body gained much more mobility.
