20. Nusi and the System

20. Nusi and the System

With the way things were going, Nusi wouldn’t have faltered even in the presence of MicroAbbas. She was stoic enough to face the prince one-on-one, and his request was wholeheartedly approved by her.

With one knee on the ground and the other upright, she swore her allegiance to him. “I, Nusi Kilzanki,” she intoned, “have sworn my allegiance to you as one of your knights. I pledge to not shy away from any task set out for me by you, even at the cost of my life. I will obey and assist you with my entire being. There is one thing I want to pledge to strengthen my allegiance to you.” She paused, his silence urging her on.

“I have a vision from my inherited memory, of a black race and a black army. With them is a great mystery, and they are covered in a blanket of cultivation that could throw the world as we know it into disarray.

If this vision and the woman who is the true owner of these memories are real, then the army will arrive in not so long a time from now. They are called Ururu. When they arrive, your highness, without proper security measures, they will break sovereignty. They shall disrupt the world as we know it and dominate the entire realm and all its inhabitants.”

“They shall reign for more than a millennium, and we, the inhabitants of this world, will either be deceased or exiled to the depths of the Lower Worlds. I cannot ascertain the authenticity of this memory, but I strongly urge its verification, Your Highness,” she said, her gaze dropping to her hands.

Nusi appeared hesitant as she disclosed this, wavering on whether to speak. Yet, an oral pledge paled in comparison to one grounded in action. Determined to support the prince, she sought to solidify their bond with more than mere words.

Thus, she chose to unveil the secret, hoping to earn his trust and cooperation. Whether he believed her or not mattered less than his willingness to investigate. These routes, said to be traveled by the impending army, could guide their actions.

Nusi harbored no doubts about her vision. She believed it with unwavering certainty, foreseeing its inevitable fruition.

Armad paused, studying her carefully. It was a delicate balance; he couldn’t show surprise at her revelation, lest it sow doubt in her mind. Yet, he couldn’t dismiss her entirely, even though he doubted her sincerity. Her demeanor cautioned him against any hasty response.

“You see, it is my decision to accept your allegiance,” Armad began, choosing his words thoughtfully. “Your pledge of obedience is enough for me; there’s no need for further gestures. However, I appreciate your initiative on your first day within my legion, offering insight that could aid in saving my people.”

“I promise to dispatch seasoned cultivators to investigate these potential invaders once we’ve dealt with the imminent threat posed by the jungle dwellers encroaching upon our city. After we’ve fortified the city and secured independence from my father, of course.”

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

“Based on your inherited memories, this whole black army thing will take more than four years, correct?” he inquired.

“Yes, Your Highness,” Nusi confirmed with a nod. “According to the memories of this Nusi-woman, the Ururu aren’t expected to arrive until after five to maybe ten years.”

Armad nodded. “We have ample time then,” he stated. “We currently have three years before my father decides on our independence. Our focus should be solely on achieving this goal during that time. Without my own empire, I’m powerless to make any decisions. So, gaining independence will be our primary objective.”

“Now, I need you to tap into your inherited memories and devise strategies to develop this city. I want to impress not only my father but also the Senate and any potential adversaries. They must see that I am deserving of independence. Do you understand?”

Nusi felt a surge of determination. Was this the leader she had been seeking? His words resonated with the authority of a commander rallying troops for battle. Placing her hand over her heart, she sealed her allegiance.

As Nusi left, Armad silently communicated with the System: [Yes, I agree to let her access the wall from the mystery stories.]

The System responded before Nusi had even departed the room.

“You can administer pills to her whenever you produce them. Her cultivation isn’t yet at the level where she can control the wall. However, as it progresses, her connection to the wall will strengthen. Eventually, she will reach a point where she can sense its presence. The System will update you on how to proceed at that time.

Keep in mind, even the System doesn’t fully comprehend the power of the wall from the Mysteries. According to the System, your combined cultivation, multiplied by the number of hairs on all the beasts you both have encountered, wouldn’t match the strength of that wall. Its cultivation surpasses human understanding.

The System will continue its investigation and advises you, in the meantime, prioritize giving pills to the lady.”

Armad paused to contemplate. While this advice seemed sound, he couldn’t shake the feeling that there might be another perspective to consider. He had deliberated over who should receive the pills first and had concluded that he should prioritize his own cultivation. However, now the System was directing him to prioritize the lady, as it was crucial for her to control the wall.

The question arises: would his own development be hindered if he waited for the lady to become empowered? Wouldn’t this be detrimental to him? Armad received an immediate response from the System:

“No, it won’t pose any issue. The System recognizes her body, and whenever she eats and your hand touches her, the nutrients from the food will be extracted without her awareness. These nutrients will then be transformed into pills. She is currently the only one deemed suitable by the System to provide nutrients. If you wish to provide others with pills, you’ll need to use your own stock, as the System won’t extract nutrients from anyone else.”

Armad felt a surge of satisfaction. It was evident that the lady possessed something unique. The distinct treatment she received from the System made him ponder whether it was because they hailed from the same Time. Yet, he also harbored suspicions that there was more to it. It was as if the System regarded her with a mixture of reverence and equality, something beyond mere fear.

Of all the men Armad encountered since his arrival, none had captured the attention of the System. However, Nusi had been noticed from the outset, her cultivation noted, and Armad instructed that she deserved to be recruited into his army.

“Who is this woman?” wondered Armad. “Who was she in the future world that I’ve never heard of? Could there have been a time when we would have crossed paths in the future?”
