Outcast Prince
16. Hunting

16. Hunting

The judge wouldn't be deterred. "About the food Your Highness..." he said. But Armad had waved him off.

"I told you that there is no way the food that is being taken out would be stopped. Leave the rest to me, I know what to do."

The judge opened his mouth to protest but he swallowed his protests when he realized that it was a fight he could never win. It wasn't his place to argue with a Wilberforce.

But deep down he was determined not to let a Wilberforce starve on his watch, and he vowed to do what he would to prevent it no matter the cost.

After he met with the prince, the first thing he did was to rally his men and order them to go around the city in search of food. Where or how they were going to find it wasn't his concern as long as the end would be met. He wasn't about to let a Wilberfoce go without food or nourishment while he watched.

Armad knew that the judge wouldn't fold his arms and watch especially if the food kept dwindling.

He didn't mind it for he was aware of the man's good intentions. The more he ate especially nutritious food the more his body got enhanced.

He knew that he needed food, a prodigious amount for that matter. But he had already made his decision concerning that.

So that night, Armad snuck out of the palace. And at that moment he felt that no one among the bandits could overpower him.

His only trepidation was the King's Legion who might also be watching.

But he wasn't new to sneaking in and out of the palace. And tonight wouldn't be the first or the last time. He was also a master at disguise. So with an appearance carefully glamoured by the dark ring skill, Armad set out of the palace towards the city outskirts.

The city that was given to Armad was quite big. The only problem was that it was far away from the core big cities.

But that was why it was deliberately chosen by the High King Arion to avoid unnecessary contention between his two sons. It was exactly why he had guarded Armad's decision to choose a city far away from the ones his older son would rule in the future.

The King supposedly didn't want anything that could cause bloodshed between his children when he was no more. Hence the choice he gave his younger son. But apart from that, the city was sprawling. Its size was only a fraction of the vast endowments it boasted of.

For one, the soil there was very fertile, and natural resources abound in it. Ayrid and Negrinki trees could grow in places around the city. It was a city blessed by nature and full of potential.

This city could go a long way if Armad could have the chance to develop it and if his father kept his word.

He could overcome the other towns in the surroundings, rule the jungles, and even the bandits. His father may have foreseen all these when he guided his choice of the city.

As it was at the moment, Armad left the palace grounds and with the help of a Speed-enhancing pol, he navigated through the city.

It took him more than an hour to reach the city wall despite employing Speed-enhancing pol and at times even flying.

When he reached the wall, he could see about fifty of his men patrolling the perimeter. The number of men who were stationed around the city to guard it has increased considerably since the incident with the King's Legion especially during the night hours.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

Undeterred, Armad confidently scaled the wall and did his best to be quiet as he dropped to the other side.

He dropped into the forest and walked a long distance from the wall before deactivating the vanishing spell on himself.

Not long after that, the city disappeared from view but he kept on walking until he reached a mountain.

He stopped, changed his clothes, and altered his disguise before going on.

He knew that the mountain housed a legion of demon beasts. and he was ready to eat to his satisfaction tonight.

His goal was certain; to eat until he was full for he had never felt satiated since his arrival here. He felt hungrier as he ate but he vowed to change that tonight.

Without much dalliance, he drew out his sword. It was a unique steel and he quickly filled it with more than two hundred pol years.

The blade became black and smoke rose from it. It looked very much like coal.

As the minutes passed, he added more pol years until it was up to three hundred. This time it turned red.

Smoke engulfed the sword and his body and soon two lions were lured out by the scent of his pol. Nothing could draw demons out of their den more than the clear scent of pol. And at the moment, Armad was doing nothing more than luring them out, for his cultivation was in full display.

Soon afterward, the two demon lions were stalking him. One stood behind him while the other was in his front.

When he sniffed their cultivation, he deduced that none of them had more than two thousand pol years. They were rather young, babies.

So he stood still until they both leaped up and got ready to pounce on him. One of them went for his heel and the other who was more cruel went for his neck.

Armad leaped up and did an odd dance that was almost imperceptible. In the next second, both lions were lying headless on the ground.

The bodies quivered until the life was drained out of them, and without wasting time, he picked them up and flung them inside his bag of holding.

Armad moved further up the mountain and before long about twenty more of the demon lions came at him. Their cultivation was around two to three thousand years of pol, which meant early-stage core formation.

But despite their number, he finished them all in no time and he moved higher up the mountain. Before long, he decided to follow a path to a cave instead of going higher. The cave was strewn with human bones, an indication that it housed many predators. But Armad wasn't fazed a bit.

When he walked in, he discovered that apart from housing demon lions, it was also a demon-snake lair as well. There was another cave within it which housed families of demon-elephants.

Armad yawned and stretched himself, and as if it were a signal, the beasts came at him. Without wasting another minute, he swung his sword in an arc as lightning blanketed his body. At that moment, he looked quite the image of Dead's herald.

His eyes became bloodshot while his hair stood on ends and his clothing became blurry as the lightning overshadowed it.

"Kaban'shisu!" He chanted and immediately vanished. Despite being stronger than them and with a more formidable cultivation, he still needed a speeding spell to overcome them because of their number. One or two beasts among them were bound to take him unawares and hurt him.

It was well-known that very few things were more poisonous than a demon snake. And despite the time he took to enhance his skin toughness, Armad wasn't about to deliberately let a snake bite him.

He vanished from where he stood and reappeared on another spot. By the time the demon-beasts realized this, his sword had already gotten through them.

This was the sword skill he had learned from his grandpa professor Zaikid. It was called 'Confusion', a skill that was often described as faster than the infamous 'inform-the-blood-of-my-passage' slash.

Whenever he used Confusion slash, his victims would know that something was wrong but what they couldn't say.

And then it happened. One could already see the surprise and confusion on the victims' faces. When were they cut?

It took five seconds of uncertain looks from them before blood started gushing out from half the cave's occupants so much that it nearly overflowed. Armad was forced to find a way out of the cave.

Unlike a normal beast, the demon beasts were quite sensible, and they knew when to quit when they were faced with someone stronger. At that moment, they instinctively knew that this man was not their match, and so, the remaining half of them panicked and withdrew inside their holes.

But Armad wasn't out to annihilate them all, at least not now. What he needed was the half that he had already killed. So after the blood had drained off, he went in and gathered his kill.
