‘......’
Thomas' words caused the group to react a bit.
However, before anyone could open their mouths to ask, Thomas directly threw the letter on his waist onto the bed before his body trembled as he immediately turned to leave.
Eisen froze and watched the door to the dormitory room being closed before picking up the letter on the bed, frowning slightly.
Although he didn't know what had happened to Thomas there in the library, the letter was enough to show that Freya hadn't accepted him.
Eisen glanced at the crowd, Thomas's abnormality hadn't made them notice the envelope thrown on the bed, instead they were gleefully talking about why Thomas had red lips on his face and what he had encountered.
He quietly tucked the envelope into his fanny pack and gently twisted the ring on his finger with his left hand, his eyes narrowing slightly as he wondered what he was thinking.
One day later.
Noon.
The foggy sky was drizzling, and perhaps because of the weather, there weren't many students walking around the academy.
Wearing a plain brown dress with a round bowler hat on her head, Freya walked in the direction of the library with an umbrella.
The black boots stepped on the rain-washed lapis lazuli with a crisp ‘pop’ sound.
The uncomfortable feeling of chi leaping in her chest caused her face to chill slightly, and even passers-by who brushed past her could clearly feel a gut-wrenching sense of danger.
Perhaps it was the triggers formed by the fallout from yesterday's hopes and disappointments, she gradually felt that the chi sensation in her chest had become somewhat overwhelming.
It was almost about to burst out during the morning's sword class, but fortunately she suppressed it in time at the last minute, citing her own discomfort as the reason, and went straight back to the dormitory to rest.
It had been until now.
Originally, she hadn't planned on relying on others, but this situation couldn't be put off any longer.
Her azure-coloured eyes gazed at the slightly open door of the library through the drizzle, and after exhaling deeply, she put away the umbrella in her hand and walked straight in.
The inside of the library, which was crowded with bookshelves, was empty, and because of the weather, the sight inside was somewhat dim at this time.
A gust of wind blew her hair outside her hat, the cool touch made her look slightly relaxed, she casually swept her eyes around, and did not see the mysterious librarian.
And in the wooden door at the very back of the library, a pale yellow light could be seen vaguely.
Tilting her head slightly, she gathered her hair, which had been somewhat dishevelled by the wind, and then slowly walked over towards that wooden door.
‘’Knock knock knock.‘’
She gently knocked on the door.
‘Come in, the door is unlocked.’ A low and husky voice came out from inside.
After fixing her mind, Freya directly pushed open the door and walked in.
There was a white candle lit in the room, and the yellowish flame illuminated the not-so-large room.
Freya slightly surveyed the room, two relatively delicate mahogany bookshelves were affixed to the corner of the wall, taking up most of the room's space, filled with all kinds of books, just by sweeping her eyes she realised that the books on these two shelves were all books she hadn't seen before.
A modest round table with two red leather sofas sat in the centre, an open book rested on the table and a faintly cosy scent filled the tip of her nose.
And the old man was beside the bookshelf seemingly organising the books, when he saw Freya who walked in, his eyes flickered and his creased face piled up slightly into a kind smile.
‘Hello, may I help you?’
Freya looked at the old man's smile, associating it with what he had said to himself earlier, she thought for a moment, then said.
‘I'm looking for some books on magical items...do you know where to find them?’
‘Magicalised items?’ The old man raised his eyebrows slightly and turned to look at Freya with a smile ‘This kind of books can only be found in the collections of great nobles, ordinary libraries don't have them...However, I do know some information about magical items, but there is a price to pay.’
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Freya frowned slightly, the old man in front of her really did know something, just...
‘May I ask what price is required.’
‘Let's leave this aside for now.’
He didn't answer directly but put down the things in his hands and walked over to the round table, saying without haste. ‘By the way, after so many days, I still don't know your name?’ The old man pulled over the sofa and sat down, also gesturing for her to sit down.
Seeing the old man's attitude, she could only obey him, take off her hat and place it on the side of the sofa, and sit down.
"Freya, Freya . Grimm. May I ask your name?"
‘Just call me Hegel, the first price you pay if you want to know information about magical items is... can I know the reason why you want to know?’ The old man named Hegel inquired.
‘...... “Freya who heard the price froze, then she said in a somewhat strange manner, ”Excuse me, this is the price?’
"There is no mistake! Equivalent exchange has always been the truth I believe in this life, if you want to get it, you will lose it, you want to know the answer, I also want to know the question, isn't it very reasonable?" The old man spoke these rather philosophical words meaningfully, and then quietly waited for Freya's reply.
Freya slightly lowered her head in thought, the ice blue earrings on her left side reflecting a cold blue light in the candlelight as her head lowered.
The old man named Hegel in front of her was undoubtedly much, much stronger than her, and she didn't have anything particularly precious on her body other than the earrings, so if he wanted to, it wouldn't really matter if he gave it to him in his current condition, it was just that watching the old man utter these words gave her some very strange feelings in the bottom of her heart...
After a long time, she raised her head, her gaze somewhat sincere and said.
‘Well, in fact, the reason I want to know the information of the magical item is because after I used a magical item, I got a very troublesome aftereffect... I want to take this opportunity to get rid of it...’
"Oh? The aftereffects of using a magical item?" Hegel's eyes twitched slightly ‘I can see the restless qi sensation in your chest, is this just the aftermath of using a magical item? Are there any other symptoms?"
‘There is also the fact that a large coloured granule will appear in my vision at all times.’ Since she didn't have any intention of holding back after deciding to speak out, she didn't have any intention of holding back.
‘Coloured particles!?’ Hegel frowned, his originally gentle expression steeply becoming a bit grave ‘Are you sure it's coloured particles?’
Seeing the old man's expression, Freya was somehow a little nervous in the bottom of her heart as she gently nodded her head.
"... ... ‘Getting a definite answer, Hegel frowned and crossed his hands together, gently nodded ’Well, I'll tell you some common knowledge about magical items, these are just ordinary things for the great nobles, and are not really any particularly important secrets. "
Hearing the old man open his mouth, Freya's complexion was slightly stunned, immediately understanding that what he said next would most likely determine whether or not the aftereffects could be eliminated.
‘In fact, magical items are just some rudimentary tools made by wizards, perhaps ordinary people are filled with magic for these things, but they are actually not that rare for those above the Knight level, with your current strength you actually still don't know about it...it's really closed.’
As soon as the old man opened his mouth, it made Freya's ears redden for no reason, she was born as a countryside noble of Byron, and she really didn't know about these things that seemed to be common knowledge, but the next thing that the old man said was that it shocked her a bit.
