After the school incident, Miche's chore work increased even more than ever. He'd go out and buy groceries, sweep the entire house, dust the entire house and after finally completing all of his chores he'd be sent to his room to study for a few hours before dinner. This process was expected to continue for another week or two. Miche couldn't stand it but luckily in his free times, he was able to look into magic and the system of faith a lot more.
"Okay, so faith is an energy around us used to power magic. It can be created into an attribute such as an element or it can be enhanced through the body with the use of Ki. Enhancing with faith and Ki is a lot harder due to the constant faith meditation and exercise needed to improve it. Low level faith users can only use magic to output their attribute, whilst higher level faith users can use Ki to boost not only their attribute, but also their body to unlock more advanced and powerful moves through enhancements."
"I think I have a pretty good overview of how this power system works. It's nice and easy to understand but this part right here in this advanced book I got from the town library..."
Miche opened the part to the advanced book he didn't understand. Most of the book was about utilising new skills and abilities with Ki and faith but the ending had something called 'Imaginative'. It was the name of a skill that all magic users strive to achieve. From Miche could understand, It created new and highly odd abilities to someone's magic. They could use this skill called 'Imaginative' once they reached a certain level of power, and only high class mages could unlock it. It gave them a new attribute, one specific only to them, and this attribute could be anything from being able to turn into a pair of scissors or being able to explode a continent in the blink of an eye. From what Miche read, it seemed it had no limitations and much is yet to be discovered about it.
"ROLD! Come down, Jasmine is here." he heard his mother call.
He quickly closed his book and made his way downstairs. Jasmine was at the door holding her bag and talking with his mom. Suddenly, I memory crossed his mind that didn't appear before. It seemed that Rold and Jasmine had an activity together for school. Miche had completely forgotten, even though all of Rold's memories were transferred to him during the switch.
"Miche, go get your stuff we have to do this work outside." Jasmine said nicely.
It seemed like she was a very nice person to Rold so Miche was happy that Rold had at least another person who was generous enough to smile at him, unlike all the other kids from school. Miche obliged and went upstairs, he got a notebook and pen then came back down.
They both went outside to the grassy field. Miche knew Rold was interested in Jasmine but knew that was something he already planned on rebuking. Other than that, Rold and Jasmine rarely talked but Miche knew she was not the type to laugh or bully him.
"Rold, you have about a day left of suspension right?"
"Yeah I do. Did I miss anything?" he asked
"Nothing much. Dylan hasn't come back either or his friends." she responded.
"Good, I don't want their ignorance rubbing off on any of you guys." he said sternly.
"Rold. . .You have a different air about you?" she said while looking at him with a tilted head.
"How so?"
"Your shoulders are more broad. You're not speaking in stutters or mumbles anymore, and the biggest change is definitely your strength to beat someone like Dylan."
"Is he supposed to be strong or something."
"Don't you remember. He scored highest in the amount of internal magic faith and he comes from the local noble family. The Featherheads."
"Featherheads huh. Seems stuff like royalty and nobility exist here." he thought to himself. "Well lets just get started and be ready to turn our results in." he said while reaching for his notepad and pen.
"I'll go first then." Jasmine said standing up.
She stood up dusting herself off and then closed her eyes after inhaling. Miche saw a whitish silver aura engulf her body immediately after she inhaled. A medium sized ball of water appeared in her hand and she threw it ten feet in front of her and over Miche's head.
"Woah. Okay, so you can create medium sized water balls in an instant after gathering up magic faith. You definitely have a high affinity for water." He wrote down while being slightly interested.
She sat back down proud with herself and slightly blushing from Miche's compliment.
"It's your turn now Rold." she said while reaching for her book and pen.
Miche stood up and also dusted his trousers off. He was definitely nervous as he had never tried using magic before. He knew Rold had a weak earth affinity but it linked with his attitude and demeanour. Maybe since Miche was more confident, Rold's earth magic would be stronger.
He closed his eyes and inhaled. He could see glowing golden particles all around him. He did his best to take them all in just as his books had described but was stopped by a sudden scream.
He immediately opened his eyes and saw a massive chunk of land missing from the floor. He looked up and saw jasmine on top of the piece of land.
"Shit, Is Rold's magic power this strong? This body is incredible." Miche thought. "JASMINE! Are you okay? I'm so sorry." he shouted up.
"No, it just surprised me. I never imagined that you would be such a high level mage!" she shouted back.
Miche noticed that she was pretty calm about the whole situation. As he thought, the giant piece of earth came floating back down. Miche looked towards his house and saw his father and sister rushing over.
"Shit.." he thought
They came by as soon as the earth landed.
"What happened Rold?" his dad asked quickly.
"I don't know. We were doing our faith training when this sort of just happened..." he responded innocently.
He watched as his sister Helga went over to Jasmine and asked if she was okay.
"I never imagined your magic would be this strong. Neither your mother or I have this much magic in our bones." his dad said happily.
Miche wondered why his father was so happy and then spoke.
Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author.
"I think we should send Jasmine home for her safety. We've finished our work anyway." he said.
He looked over at his sister as she sent Jasmine home and also saw an excited look on her face. They looked pretty happy that he had such great magical abilities.
A few moments later, Miche was in his room and was reading back on the notes he made on Jasmines water magic. He was still impressed on how quick she was able to summon a water ball out of thin air. From the books he read on magic and faith, a mage would usually use a magic staff or artifact to use magic that efficiently. As he was thinking to himself he heard talking from downstairs. He could have sworn he heard the name 'Rold' multiple times. He attempted to block it out but continued to hear it until he got curious. He snuck out of his bedroom door out of curiosity and used the agility he gained from training with help from the system in his head.
"I haven't really interacted with the system for a while now? Do I still have the health drinks? The sword? Later...right now I need to know why they're talking about me."
He inched closer to the stair railings and listened to his mom and dad talk.
"Did you see the size of the piece of land he pulled up? That's noble level magic, definitely something that only an aristocrat in the Upper Silvered Continent can pull off." His dad said excitedly.
"But honey, do you really think sending our son to the best mage school in the entire world is good? He's young and will definitely be looked down upon by all the nobles going." the mother said worriedly.
"You're right...I got ahead of myself and didn't think about his feelings. But I do think we should all still travel somewhere for the upcoming summer. I think it'd be fun." his dad said.
"You definitely have some plan in mind. I think we should go to the beach." his mother said happily.
Miche got bored and made his way back upstairs. It seemed like if he attended the school, that would definitely be a way for his family to go and live in the USC. He thought for a moment and slumped near his window. He could hear the wind and rain splattering against the panes. He looked out and saw the darkness of the night, it brought him to his senses a little.
"Aren't I a little too comfortable. I left my mom and dad. My passion for art and of course Bianca too..." he said to himself sadly.
While in this solemn state, a hand suddenly punched through the window, crashing glass everywhere and grabbed Miche by the face. It threw him outside onto the muddy grass floor. He gasped for air as he landed on his back. He immediately looked up and saw a foot coming down to his chest. He rolled out of the way and stood up, staring at the perpetrator.
"D-dylan?" he said as he gasped for air.
"Yeah it's me. I couldn't stand sleeping at night, knowing that a loser like you could humiliate me like that. You even did a project with the girl I like." he said angrily, his face consumed with rage.
"So, you found my house and came to beat the life out of me?" Miche said annoyed.
"That's right. Fight me!" Dylan screamed pointing a finger at Miche.
His finger started glowing in a yellow light colour and the beam went flying towards Miche, grazing his cheek.
"I wasn't able to show my full extent of power at school since I didn't expect you to fight back. But here I am now." he said with a sinister grin.
At the house door, Rold's parents along with Helga burst out.
"Who are you?!" Rold's father screamed.
A beam of light hit the wall behind them, shocking them all.
"Be quiet and watch while I beat up your so-" he was cut off by a knee to the chest from Miche.
"Shut your mouth." Miche growled.
He began hitting Dylan with multiple combos. A hook to the cheek, an uppercut to the stomach and a roundhouse to his temple. Dylan fell to the floor shaking. He couldn't use one of his hands due to the incident from before and was now on the ground.
"Dylan, are you insane! You literally followed me home and grabbed me through my window. How the hell did you even get up there?" Miche asked, both annoyed and confused.
Dylan stood back up smiling and stumbling.
"Nanomachines son!" he said smirking.
"Nanomachines?" Miche asked confused.
"Of course, there's no point in telling you Rold. After all, your poor ass wouldn't be able to afford it." Dylan said pointing a glowing finger at Miche.
A beam went flying to Miche and he narrowly dodged. He felt the heat moving near his face from the beam and went running at Dylan. He punched Dylan in the stomach. It felt different, harder and much more tough, like metal.
"Like I said Rold. Nanomachines." He swung at Miche and landed a punch to the cheek. Miche felt the bone crack and flew across the floor, the wet mud and grass spreading across the back of his head and hair.
"No way. There's no way I'm beating this brute of a kid." Miche said in mild fear.
"Dylan? What are you doing here?" his father asked.
"Shut up you filthy cur. Watch as I decimate your son." Dylan smirked as he walked over to Miche. "Rold, you really thought you could mess with me? A family so close to the royals..." He was cut off by a glare from Miche.
"Don't you dare look at me like that!" He screamed while pointing another glowing finger at Miche.
Dylan suddenly noticed a glass bottle on the floor and a short sword in Rold's hands. The sword was crackling with electricity.
"How...do you have a magic coated weapon?" Dylan asked shocked.
He barely had time to speak as Rold was already rushing towards him and cut his arm. He felt a sudden shock in his body causing him to shake, his eyes began watering and his trousers became drenched in urine from the sudden electric shock.
"To embarrass me...like this?" Dylan stuttered.
He watched as Rold walked closer, seeing a mid bright green glow emanating from his eyes.
He stood up and began running back down the trail leading to Rold's house.
Miche spoke.
"Mom, dad and Helga. Since he's from the noble family in this town i'm sure if he telles them we won't get off with a slap on the wrist. You all have to go." He said seriously.
"Rold are you stupid. As your father I forbid you fro-" Helga covered his mouth and shook her head.
She saw the determination and anger in her brother's eyes. While also knowing how far he had progressed, and seeing how well he fought against such a strong noble she knew he wouldn't fail in defeating that bully.
They watched as Rold ran down the path way, the rain getting even harder and thunder beginning to rumble.
He was now gaining on the weakened Dylan as they reached the town. Due to the heavy rain, the cobblestone streets were empty and all the stalls were closed. Miche saw Dylan run down a dark alleyway and followed. He continued the chase, his socks and shoes getting drenched from the amount of puddles he was stepping in. The streets were like a maze in the dark but it seemed like Dylan knew exactly where he was going.
They eventually made it out of the maze like alleyways and were running up the street to the Featherbrain manor.
"This place looks rich as hell. Of course a pampered brat like you would act so high and mighty!" Miche shouted from behind.
He continued to keep the pressure on Dylan who eventually made it to the main gate. He stopped at the main gate and turned back around nervously. Miche also stopped in his tracks, the wet mud splattering on his shoes from the sudden halt.
"Nowhere to run Dylan."
"I should say that to you." Dylan grinned.
Miche was immediately surrounded by multiple guards, all who somehow appeared out of nowhere. They all wore armour of sorts and were holding spears at Miche. Two came rushing and he was able to jump up into the air and double kick them both at the back of the head.
"Nice moves. But our numbers are just too high. All of my guards have nanomachines embedded in them as well, so you don't stand a chance." Dylan smirked.
He was definitely right. Miche was hurt from the fight with Dylan before and knew he wasn't about to take on multiple guards who had nanomachines. He remembered having to use his weapon as well to beat Dylan before as well, so this fight was definitely going to go side ways, very quickly.
The guards inched closer around him, bringing their spears closer to his neck.
"Damn."
