Miche looked around frantically. This place was definitely set in a time before modernity but it didn’t change how festive the vibe was. Food stalls, games and performances. It was like a new type of environment Miche had never been in even during his last life.
He continued to follow the route he had in Rold’s memories and eventually made his way home. It was a small cottage near the stream that led into the forest. The perfect place to fish for food and it was very secluded too. The infrastructure was definitely olden but Miche didn’t care. He promised to take care of Rold’s body and family.
Like Rold would do, he put the sticks he had in his arms into the box outside and entered the house after collecting some water from the well, just like Rold would do. He came into the house and was met with a slap on the head after he set down the bucket.
He quickly turned around while rubbing his head.
“Hey what’d you do that fo…oh”
Miche locked eyes with Rold’s sister. She had light red eyes and black long hair. Her body was absolutely banging but Miche pushed those thoughts away since she was technically his sister now.
“What took you so long? Did you get invested into that festival going on in town?” She said angrily.
“No, of course not. It just took me longer today that’s all.”
While talking to her, Miche felt his heart ache a little. This girl’s actual brother was dead and she was talking to someone around her age but she just didn’t know it. Miche felt bad but it was out of his hands. He promised to take care of Rold’s family like his own so he would stick to that promise.
“Dad is still at work and mom is…”
“After you went to pick up firewood she went to work at her stall in the town. Today is the most festive day of the entire town after all.”
From what Miche could gather in Rold’s thoughts, today was the day that the town was founded by the arch wizard Granbelld. From history classes in school, Rold learned about arch wizard Granbelld and deduced he was nothing but an old bat, but to Miche this man was interesting since it introduced the concept of magic to him.
“Arch wizard and magic huh… No wonder those assassins had flashy techniques, they must have been using magic. The short sword I got must have magic too since it’s coated in electricity.” Miche thought.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
“Anyway, go read your books or something while I cook dinner.” She said.
Miche went to Rold’s bedroom and saw books all over the bed, floor and table.
“Definitely some sort of genius book nerd. We’re not too different are we then Rold.”
Miche sat down and opened one of the books with the title: ‘Understanding of magic and enhancements vol.1’.
He read for a good while and came to an understanding.
“So that first assassin that came for me used the faith in his body to coat his short sword with his elemental affinity, lightning, and this faith thing is the sort of magic system in this world. In games, it’s usually mana or mp. This place is an actual world though and not a game.”
Miche closed that book and looked over at another called ‘Basics to uses of Ki with faith: For enhanced combat trainers’.
He flicked through the book again and understood even more about this new world. People who coat their weapons with magic are usually magic users who cannot coat themselves with magic. To coat yourself with magic, you must be able to use ki which is equivalent to enhancing the uses of all five senses and utilising them all in battle.
“This must be why it was harder to beat the second assassin. He didn’t have a weapon and he barely attacked me. My attacks did barely anything and he was really quick as well, but when he did attack it hurt like shit. To get on that level, I need to utilise Ki and faith at a professional standard. But for now, I think I’ll understand this world a bit more before hunting those assassins down and training to beat them all.”
Miche cleaned up Rold’s room a bit and then pulled out a map of the world which was in a drawer inside the desk in Rold’s room. It looked completely different to the earths world map. This planet was definitely at a similar size to the earth’s but was possibly a bit larger. There were five main continents all called different names; The underwater continent, The floating paradise, Beast nation, Silvered Continent and the deserted plains.
The floating paradise was said to be the most equal and tropical area in the world, it was said to have the most impressive and popular school of magic in the entire world. The underwater continent was said to house many Merpeople and fish species, it was also said to have the most faith skilled society. The silvered continent was where Miche currently was and it was said to have mostly a human population, it was also said to have the strongest army. The Beast nation had many different species of Demi-humans and animals, and finally the deserted plains was located in the middle of the planet and was definitely the smallest continent out of the five. Not much could be said about it besides the fact that there was sand and emptiness for miles.
Miche closed the map and also closed the geography book as well and put them back into the shelf.
“This world is very interesting. It’s something out of a video game that’s for sure. Just like this system in my head as well.”
He stood up and went down as he heard Rold’s sister call him down for dinner. He didn’t even notice how dark it was now and that both of Rold’s parents were back home.
