Chapter 23 - Battle of Obviam Deis
The Demon species is a breed of magical marvel. A few of them can stand on par with full-fledged Dragons. Appearing humanoid, standing on two feet like most sentient races, they are identified as having wings or horns, sometimes, they appear like ordinary humans. However, there is one thing that separates them from the rest of the species and that is their extreme desire to conquer the world and make all species submit to them. In effect, the Demon species are treated as enemies in most societies. Cunning and deceitful, they utilize their god-given abilities to the utmost and have made themselves a species to be wary of. And that brings us to the capital city of Carugonia.
Seated on a bejeweled throne, the Lord of the Demon species yawned. Yawn. “It’s noisy outside,” the Demon Monarch said. Demon Lord Baal is a titan in size adorning royal garments. His clothing was reminiscent of a pugilist, with a burly physique, and the face of a wizened man in his 40s. Neither handsome nor ugly, the Demon Lord’s face is described to be dignified.

“I smell… blood.”
!
Immediately, the Demon Lord teleported to the outside of The Grand Castle. What the Demon saw across the horizon were black flames as high as the heavens entrapping those within its confines. From a distance, a few figures were seen flying in the sky toward him. It was Dario, and behind him was Azad carrying the heads of the Demon Generals and Calamor.
“Bahal,” Dario said.
“Hmm? A human dares to speak without honors?” Demon Lord Baal scoffed with aggression liken to a bear.
“Kekeke,” Calamor chuckled. “It’s good to see that you haven’t changed, Bahal, Ancient High Ranker, Demon Lord of the East.”
When Demon Lord Baal looked at who was talking, his memory instantly recognized. The Demon Lord scorned, “Deluc.” Baal intensified his Aura and a massive presence was felt.
“Why so glum, Bahal? Keke, surprised old friend?” The Blood Elf patronized the Demon Lord.
“I always knew a Blood Elf would thirst for other lands, but to think that your current state would be like that,” Baal said in a belittling manner. “Look what has become of you!” He knew that Deluc had the essence of a familiar.
“Kekekeke!” Suddenly, Eldar Calamor revealed the rings around his heart.
!!
Caught off guard, Demon Lord Baal wasn’t quick enough to react against a 9th-tier spell, True Control. In truth, there was nothing he could have done.
Arcane Spells: [True Control] -The Overlord class-exclusive spell that binds all under those below a 9th-tier Archmage or Grandmaster of equal standing. Rank: 9th-tier Proficiency: 100%
“I surpassed you a long time ago, Bahal,” Calamor expressed with coldness and a resolute tone. “No need to destroy such a beautiful castle. The Omen Sect will happily take all that you own. Kekekeke!” The Blood Elf’s laugh was that of a sociopath.
“I-Impossible! You were always beneath me!” The burly Demon Lord screamed.
“Pathetic,” Dario interjected. “Make immediate preparation. Carugonia is ours for the taking. I give you my thanks, Demon Lord Baal, for returning this land to its rightful owners.” Those last words were accompanied by a chuckle of satisfaction. Chuckle…

In the blazing inferno created by Lord Hades, the “Brain of the Lord Vicegerent,” was overlooking the capital city, Obviam Deis, from the sky. Hades witnessed the grand view of the Demon species fighting desperately against the Omen Sect. Every high-ranking member of the Omen Sect was present. Although the total number of them was the same at the time of the Meloirean Conquest (300), in reality, their power was what made them different. The sight of the Demon species who had always hated the Omen Sect being filled with fear was a satisfaction awaiting to occur.
Out of all the players in the Coalition Army, the Demon species contributed the most to the Omen Campaign. Their deeds comprised a list of sinister actions against the Omen people, including murder, rape, thievery, torture, and poisoning. Such deeds had placed a great hatred against the Demon species by the Omen people. There were many instances of skirmishes during the Omen Campaign where the Demon species were seen enjoying the downfall of the Omen Nation with delighted and sadistic faces. That’s why when some Demons were seen surrendering, there was no forgiveness as they were ruthlessly killed and gored to oblivion. It was a horrendous sight for the Demon race to see a superior species like them to be slaughtered as such.

In addition, there was the Undead that had yet to be spoken of. They were the bulwark of the Day Army as 50,000 of them carried out the command of the Sith Lord, Dario, and vanquished the Demon species from Carugonia. High-leveled Undead were monsters that the Demons did not underestimate. The time grew closer when the population of Obviam Deis was near zero.
Before the Omen Campaign 10,000 years ago, Lord Hades was commanded by the previous Vicegerent to remain at Holy Manalum and await the coming of the Successor of the Seven Heavens. Remaining the forever loyal friend and servant, Hades could not go to the outside world. And when the Omen Campaign took its course, he could not do anything but obey the command of the previous Vicegerent.
It had placed the Strategist in a precarious situation where he could not help his people. However, the command and wisdom of the previous Vicegerent supersede all. Nothing will move Hades, even if that means the destruction of his people. Still, the feeling of not being there placed the Strategist in deep sorrow and anguish. But now, that is no longer the case.
“By now, the young master would have completed his side of things,” Hades said. The strategy to overtake the country of Carugonia was relatively simple because the element of surprise was on their side. They would launch a surprise attack on the capital city by teleporting at the gates while Dario’s party headed to The Grand Castle and sealed the fate of Carugonia.
(Author’s note: the actual name of the castle.)
As if on cue, the Lord Disciple sent a message via telepathy to the Strategist.
Lord Hades, Bahal sits at Gehenna awaiting torture. Get whatever information you can get from him.
Once the message was received, Hades looked one more time at the burning city. The Omen people and the Undead equipped with the glass-like black color of the metal, Ebony, almost looked as if an eclipse had covered the capital city.
“It’s almost time. I should wrap things up on my end as well,” Hades expressed while snapping his finger. With that one snap, the black flames as tall as the sky disappeared. When the Day Army noticed that the city was not overshadowed by the infernal flames, they immediately began the next step of the plans by rendezvousing back to the teleportation gate. Essentially, the wall of infernal flames acted as a barrier for the Demons and a signal to return to Mount Tian. When the Day Army made their way back, the streets of Obviam Deis were painted with the purple blood of the Demons.
“This is the beginning,” Hades said to himself. “Bahamut, your time is coming.” The last words spoken by the Lord Strategist as the last soldier entered the portal and the silence of the sinners was the only thing left.

Demon Lord Baal, Ancient High Ranker, one of the Heaven’s Respected Ten, a seat he usurped after the Omen Campaign. It was a dream he had long sought after alongside the destruction of the Omen Nation. That’s why he and his subjects joined the Coalition Army, to take what the Demon Lord thought should have been his. Not only did he attain the title that he wanted, but he also stole the lands of the Omen Nation.
Carugonia is a large-size country and a competent government that Demon Lord Baal took for himself as spoils of the victor. The Coalition Army had no plans to make a new enemy since their troops were depleted after the long Campaign. Moreover, there were Demon Lords under his rule as well, though only a few know of this. There were a few examples in history where a Demon Lord is subjected to another Demon Lord given the fact that the latter is exponentially more powerful than the former. Demon Lord Baal is such an example that has three Demon Lords under his thumb, Demon Lord Malgas, Demon Lord Yoshitada, and Demon Lord Silphy. Those three govern countries of their own and combine equally to the size of Carugonia.
Not all Demons are created the same, in fact, they have classes like any other species. The lowliest of Demons have very little intelligence and mostly function like carnal monsters. They are mostly dominated by higher Demons. Now, the Demons with a noble seat are figures worthy of attention. Demon Lord Baal is a figure with the position of a Duke and is accommodated with a Title proportional to such a seat. There can only be four Demons with the position of Duke at any given time, yet, such Titles no longer mean anything.
“You’ve relished for quite some time, haven’t you, Bahal?” A voice commented from the shadows.
Chained with the metal from Gehenna, Demon Lord Baal sits in the dimension of Hellfire. Screams and screeches never heard in the physical world were endlessly hounding from the unimaginable torment being done upon them. As for Bahal, no harm was done to him, as of yet that is.
“Who goes there?! Show yourself!!” The Demon Lord's shout emitted a shockwave.
“My, my, my, so much energy even though you no longer hold any power,” from the shadows, the elegant appearance of Calamor and Hades appeared.
“Lord Hades, it seems this Demon is yet to grasp the situation,” Calamor made a play with his words.
A diabolical smile formed on the face of the Strategist, “Kekeke! Indeed, Lord Calamor, this filth has relished far too long in his delusion of grandeur.”
Hades swiped his hand in midair and numerous window screens popped up. What was displayed was something familiar to the Demon Lord.
“W-What is…” He said, almost unbelieving.
What he saw was his brethren being slaughtered like cattle in numerous Demon cities and towns of Carugonia. Of course, the Duke of the East would recognize his own land, but, his eyes were still in disbelief.
The capital city, Obviam Deis, may be conquered, however, there were still locations that were necessary to be consolidated. With that said, a two-man team on the level of a Demonic Master while supported by the Undead Legion would go to each place and wipe the total population of Demons down to zero.
“Bahal, you seem to be out of it, old friend?” Calamor’s words became more arrogant.
“You damn mongrels! This humiliation is unforgivable!!” Pouting like a depraved child, Demon Lord Baal was going through a mental breakdown.
“How pathetic,” Hades scoffed. “To think a Demon like you usurped the Omen Nation’s territory would be like this? Lord Calamor, I believe it is high time to punish this one of his sins.”
“Kekeke!” Calamor had a twisted smile on his face. “I was waiting for you to say those words, my Lord,” Eldar Lich Deluc created a whip from his blood.
“Time is different in Gehenna. By the time we’re through with you, Carugonia will have been fully reclaimed. Lord Calamor, please begin.”
The eyes of the Demon Lord looked fearful, unable to grasp how easily he and Carugonia were overtaken. When the whip made out of Deluc’s blood made contact with his skin, it did nothing to stop the anguish.
Whip! Whip!
“Welcome to the ceremony of blood! Mwahahaha!”
Calamor lashed the Demon Lord endlessly while laughing like a wicked maniac. The whips taken were strong enough that shockwaves were discharged every time Bahal was struck. Slowly, Demon Lord Baal’s appearance was being gored with deep gashes.
