Chapter 17 - The Angel Descends
In the void of space, a vast nebula of gases, stars, and planets light the endless darkness. Jinn was adoring such a sight, the finest of luxuries to relax while beholding the glory of creation.
Enjoying what the new dimension had to offer ever since being sucked into the black hole. It seemed like Jinn was committing suicide when he displayed no emotion in such a dire situation where death is a certainty. With that said, he was thinking about all the events that have happened so far, reflecting upon why his life turned out the way it is at this moment.
The Angel of Death, Jinn, is a cold-blooded person and is described as a sociopath. When he was known on Earth for a short time, people claimed that they never really knew what his real character was like. What they did not know was the sense of refinement from a person like him. A gentleman through and through with the best of manners, though, a small number of people actually had the honor to see that of him.
However, he was not always like that. At the beginning of his life, he had to survive as a mercenary in Africa. The vicious cycle of the weak being dominated by the strong, the law of nature, is the world in which he lived. He survived and reached the top of the food chain. Eventually, when The Angel of Death achieved his lifelong goal of revenge, the deep void did not leave. It was an emotionless state he could not get out from.
When he fused with the nanomachines, the possibility of reconnecting with emotion was a fatal situation. Fusing with technology has never been achieved in human history, but, the vast knowledge of quantum technology made such things a reality. So far, it seems like emotion is slowly returning.
“It pleases me, sir, that you have progressed in regaining your humanity,” Veda, the holographic butler bowed. “Even though the amount may be minuscule, my projections of returning any sort of emotion into your nervous system is an absolute success.”
Chuckle. A light chuckle, almost in an arrogant manner. Females would fall for such taunts, especially if the individual making such an action was attractive. Jinn is such a person with an emotionless face and taciturn nature easily attracts beautiful women without any work.
“Sir, I hate to bother the moment of your stargazing, however, what do you intend to do about Meloire?” Asked Veda.
So far, after the reconciliation with all missing tribe members of the Omen Sect, Dario has assembled the warriors and is preparing for war, “Should we not assess the enemy?” Questioned Veda.
“There’s no need for that,” replied Jinn.
?
The butler had no idea what his master was up to. Jinn did not divulge what would happen next, “How unlike you, sir. You may be The Angel of Death, but this is a new world. Are we certain that no enemy may challenge us if we act this way?”
It was a reasonable question. Simply declaring war on a country without preparation is borderline stupidity at its finest. Yet, the look on Jinn’s face says otherwise. He maintained an uninterested demeanor.
Is it arrogance or is his confidence in nanomachines supreme to the point where one would be conceited?
Chuckle. A devilish grin appeared on his handsome face. His hood was not covering his head as is usually the case and his face was open for anyone to see. Of course, the only person who witnessed his appearance was one person. There is a reason why a select few are granted the honor of seeing his face. Not even his disciple is granted that right.
“Now should be the right time,” Jinn said.
“Whatever could you mean, sir?” Veda did not understand the meaning behind those words.
Then, Jinn suddenly fazed through the glass window and levitated in open space. Any other living creature would have their lungs ruptured in a manner of moments without the protection of a spacesuit. Though oxygen is inconsequential when one is fused with nanomachines, it is the reason why Jinn remains in perfect condition.
“Sir?” Veda called out to his Master. Surprisingly, Jinn proceeded to fly toward Soa at extreme speed.

Meloire, the “Country of Roses” is what is most known about the place. Beauty is its main attraction with roses and women being at the forefront. It is a mid-sized region ruled by a Viscount, yet, Meloire is riddled with crime ever since the Omen Campaign.
With all the countries involved in the coalition to destroy the Omen Nation, Meloire was one of those governments which were wholly destroyed by the martial practitioners of The Omen. And when no ruling government is managing a territory, chaos follows soon after. This is the status of the region that was once known to display beauty and attraction to the world.
The drug trade, prostitution, kidnapping, slave trade, and all criminal activity low or high levels encompasses the entire country. Meloire’s ruling group is composed of thugs and gangsters, no real people with talent and skill. Though, it is expected that the Viscount of the country is sure to have a few useful pawns.
Overall, Meloire is the country that Lord Vicegerent wishes to conquer first. The Country of Roses was once the Omen Nation’s territory. Both the Omen Sect and Meloire are similar in size when it comes to territory. It is also one of the countries which are next to Hollow World and the Omen Sect. With all that said, there is a reason why Jinn wanted to pursue Meloire above all the other countries.
It was because of a certain metal called Ebony. Currently, the inhabitants of Meloire do not know that their region harbors such a precious material because only a select few can mine and work the metal. Moreover, Ebony Ore Veins are difficult to locate as they are found in mountains and caves where monsters fester.
The young disciple, Dario, assembled all the capable fighters in the Omen Sect and arrived at the plains where the war would take place. The Legendary Midnight Soldier, Azad, and Eldar Calamor were sent as delegates proclaiming that the Omen Sect will reclaim their stolen territory.
The Viscount, Jean Roel de Baldo is a 4th Class Mage who was able to subjugate the territory filled with criminals. He is a morbidly obese man that enjoys raping and torturing beautiful young women. And being that Meloire has the finest of women, Viscount Baldo’s malevolent hobby goes unchallenged. The cries of the women remain unheard as they continue to live in a perpetual hell.
Other than that, the main concern would be the knights under his command who can utilize Aura. They are deduced to be in the level of Peak Realm if they were measured in the Omen Sect’s power system. Overall, Meloire has more than 3000 soldiers not counting the citizens who can be conscripted. In short, the Omen Sect is suspected to be facing close to 5000 soldiers in this war.
When Dario had sent Azad and Calamor to the capital of Meloire, they razed quite a commotion when they were in front of Viscount Baldo. Azad had already slaughtered the soldiers and the knights who scoffed at them saying that they were insignificant to meet someone such as the Viscount. Yet, the scene of a rampaging ox sowed fear in all those present and no one ignored them any longer.
“You are the 4th Class Mage who rules this land?” a condescending tone was in the midst of Calamor’s tongue.
In front of the Blood Elf, Viscount Baldo sits on a throne while surrounded by women collared in slavery chains. Gulp. The morbidly obese noble is visibly sweating at the occurrence in his court that Azad had left such an impression.
Nod. The Viscount nodded in response.
“Very good,” suddenly, the air quaked around them. “The Omen Sect declares war upon Meloire and intends to reclaim its territory!” A loud boom reverberated throughout the large building and the windows cracked from the shrieking sound.
“T-The Omen Sect!” The noble shouted. “I-Impossible! They were destroyed hundreds of years ago!!” Yelled the man.
Chuckle. Eldar Calamor laughed mockingly. “Muster all your men to the central plains!” The great hall that was bloodied by Azad began to form the blood into a huge orb above Calamor.
“The demise of filth like you will come. Kuku!” The blood orb floating above slowly covered Azad and Calamor. When the orb engulfed them, they teleported out of sight. The blood orb dispersed and fell to the ground, leaving a pool of blood.
“W-Where did they go?!” Questioned a Knight.
Teleportation spells ranged from 5th-tier to 10th-tier. Eldar Calamor had activated an original spell named, Blood Gate, and sent them to HQ (Mount Tian). This spell is possible if there is a teleportation magic circle engraved on the ground and is accessible to those who know the formula. A teleportation magic circle has already been placed in a secure area within Mount Tian.
“You’ve arrived faster than I thought,” said Dario. The young disciple had been waiting for this moment to arrive.
“Declaring war is a simple thing to do. Now that the Meloireans know, we can proceed to the central plains,” replied Eldar Calamor. With that said, all of the fighters of the Omen Sect that are gathered in Mount Tian would begin to deploy to the central plains of Meloire.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Viscount Baldo’s heart couldn’t stop beating.
The commotion began when Calamor and Azad were at the entrance of the Meloirean Palace. The guards stationed there were cut into pieces by Azad. It was then that soldiers and knights began to impede their steps. However, none could stand against the legendary figure who brandished a twin-bladed katana and a huge battleaxe. When they reached the throne room, knights were standing on guard, awaiting the unknown assailants.
History shows that no Elves belonged to the Omen Nation. Thought Baldo. He shook his head, disposing of such thoughts. The chains wrapped around his wrist were connected to a woman dressed in a scantily-clad cloth which the Viscount pulled to his side.
The morbidly obese man began to fondle and beat the poor woman. It was an action to appease the beating of his heart. Not only that, Viscount Baldo was shameless enough to do it in front of all the people present. It is an action unbefitting that of a noble and a Mage. Then again, Meloire is governed by the wicked, therefore, such actions are expected of such people.
“Do you believe in what those monsters said, sir?” Asked Baldo’s personal knight.
(Author’s note: Being described as a “monster” is a racial slur in this world.)
“No…” The noble’s words darted off. “The Omen Nation has been destroyed for a very long time. It could be an envoy from the Woodland Elves of the Andals.”
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
“Sir, are we to ignore their declaration of war?”
“No. Assemble 2000 soldiers and begin marching to the central plains. Leave a retinue of 1000 men to guard the capital,” a conceited look appeared on Baldo’s round face. Even if they have people as strong as those two, in the face of thousands of soldiers, no one can overcome that number.
“Kekeke,” Viscount Baldo let out maniacal laughter as he beat the woman by his side to death. Ptoot! The noble spat at the deceased body, “Burn that useless toy and bring me another! Just wait you arrogant Elves! We will conquer your lands and mangle your women!!”
***
The central plains of Meloire are located next to the eastern region of Hollow World. Unlike most of the barren land owned by the Omen people, Meloire is ripe with rich soil. Of course, their nickname, Country of Roses is due to the rich ecosystem. Green plains and fruit ready for harvest are abundant in this mid-sized region, yet, the people governing such a place have laid the land to ruin.
A drug called, “Shavu,” is cultivated by the slaves owned by the Meloirean elite class and supervised by thugs and lowlives. That type of drug is similar to cocaine in many aspects, however, the difference with Shavu is that it places the user in an extremely euphoric and sedated state for a short duration. It is activated when a certain amount is snorted and hallucinates the drug user to have the best illusion they ever dreamt of. Such a drug is circulated all over Meloire and it’s safe to assume that more than half of the people are addicted to Shavu. This is the main reason why Meloire is in such a sorry state. Drugs are but many ways to control the denizens and the one in control of it all is none other than the Viscount.
Jean Roel de Baldo was a noble born in the southern Duchy of the continent, Erebus. His family had inherited Meloire after the Omen Campaign and has been theirs ever since, corrupting the land and people alike. Understanding that the land had once belonged to the Omen Nation made them exploit such a place. After all, Meloire was not theirs to begin with, therefore, they did whatever they pleased, not giving an ounce of care.
That type of behavior had seeped deep into the Baldo family for hundreds of years and they thought their rule would always go unchallenged. Not only that, the hypocrisy was so deep that Viscount Jean Roel did not believe in Calamor’s declaration of war. This is because his family had hostile relations with the Elves located in the Andals. It was a long-standing feud between a noble family and Wood Elves that began with the very first member of the Baldo family. Truly, members of the Baldo family were full of psychopaths.
When Viscount Baldo’s troops had marched to the central plains, the retinue of soldiers all lined up in rows gave him a feeling of superiority, “Is that the Elves from the Andals?” Questioned the Viscount.
His confidant replied, “No, sir, even the Elves have more numbers than that.”
Viscount Baldo was surprised to see that there were close to 300 troops across the green plains. Are those Giants, Dark Elves, Dwarves, and Humans in one army? The Elves couldn’t even muster their own and had to recruit people outside their race?! Baldo questioned if what he was seeing was true. A conceited smile formed on his face, a smile as wide as a jester’s smile with makeup on.
“Kekekekeke!!! They dare act arrogantly with this many soldiers?!” Viscount Baldo’s maniacal laughter was loud enough that the enemy across from them could hear it. And, it wasn’t the Viscount that was the only one laughing, even the troops and knights synced their mocking laughter with their Lord.
What they did not understand was that not taking Eldar Calamor’s warning would be the last laughter they would ever have.
***
There were a little over 300 capable fighters in the Omen Sect as opposed to the 2000 troops on Viscount Baldo’s side. From Hades to Elder Saru, all high-ranking warriors to the very bottom were commanded to participate in this war. Everyone was present. The Iron Slasher group, Drows, Elder Saru’s disciple, Kongol, the Giant Tribe, Dwarves, and Humans answered the call of Lord Vicegerent.
“Strange that they didn’t conscript any of their citizens,” Gerald Killeway made an astute observation.
“Are you sure they heard the declaration of war?” Caesar Ryozen thought that there would be more troops on the other side.
“Hmph! The pompous Viscount is full of conceit that he couldn’t even measure the level of this army,” Calamor spouted in response.
What the Blood Elf says is true. Depending on the military strategy that Viscount Baldo can implement with his army, it is possible that the battle can be dragged out for a duration of time. In truth, the 300 fighters of the Omen Sect place them at a stalemate against 2000 soldiers. Although the number may be high, the Knights leading the troops in separate regiments are what makes that force competent. It is expected that the Knights of this world are aware of Aura and can actively wield it.
“The enemy has failed to deduce the power of the Omen Sect. It is time to make them realize their sin,” said Azad.
“No,” replied Dario. “We wait until Master arrives.”
As if on cue, a thunderous sound was heard high in the sky. A figure clothed in a black robe descended from the heavens like a flaming meteor. Lord Vicegerent gracefully landed in front of his people. Condensation was oozing out of Jinn’s body as the wind cooled his body.
“Master,” Dario said as he knelt. The 300 fighters also kneeled. Although it is unbecoming of an army to display formalities while the enemy is near, they kneeled all the same.
“Rise my disciple, my people,” Lord Vicergerent proclaimed.
“Master, how will we deal with those numbers? I sense those Knights are experienced in Aura,” the young disciple commented.
Chuckle. Lord Vicegerent let out a light chuckle, “Kuku. I’ll be going alone.”
!!
“W-What! But Master!” Dario beseeched his Master.
“We command all of you to stand down as We will be handling this Ourselves,” the order was plain and simple.
The Omen warriors bowed as is the courtesy of acquiescing to a command from their Lord and a message via telepathy was sent to Dario.
My disciple, bring out Illiyin and Sijjin. Without hesitation, the young disciple reached into the interdimensional Item Box, and two sacred swords were brought out. Watch closely. This is how a Heavenly Demon should fight.
While facing his back to his people, Jinn shocked them by uncovering his hood. The Omen people witnessed as they saw glowing silver hair emanating from Lord Vicegerent and grey energy particles seeping out from his skin.
Gasp. Many of the fighters were in shock and awe, yet, they would be amazed even more by the horrifyingly amazing scene that they were about to witness.
At the speed where Dario can perceive with his vision, Jinn reduced his power for everyone to see. His motion created after-images as if multiple clones had existed. Jumping high into the sky, Jinn crashed the earth with one of his moves, Hell’s Gate.
Sword Techniques: [Skill - Heavenly Demon Swordsmanship] Hell’s Gate - Plunges the sword downward stabbing the opponent. An attack that functions like the Heavenly Stinger, but, deviates by plunging the sword downward from the sky rather than a straightforward, linear thrust. Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
Kaboom!
The composition of Viscount Baldo’s army is placed as follows; the middle flanks are composed of 1000 troops, while the right and left flanks have 500 respectively. Jinn slammed the troops and instantly obliterated them to pieces. The level of power was incredibly intense that a few hundred of Baldo’s troops instantly disintegrated. Soon after, Jinn unleashed an Aura technique, Heaven and Hell. It was a wave attack that blasted mana like a tsunami wave.
Aura Technique: [Skill - Heaven and Hell] Rank: EX Proficiency: 130% -An Aura Technique that produces a chi wave the size of a tsunami. It is a technique that was exclusively practiced by the Original Vicegerent.
Kabooooooooom!!! A massive wave of radiance unleashed from Illiyin and a grey brilliance from Sijjin scarred the green plains in an “X” pattern.
“Kugh!!” Screams of pain from the enemy were blurted out for a few seconds. Baldo’s army was helpless as they could do nothing. More than half of the Viscount’s army was already destroyed in a manner of minutes. Lord Vicegerent finished the rest off by using all of the classic Heavenly Demon Sword Techniques, starting it off with the move, Double Fantasia.
Sword Techniques: [Skill - Heavenly Demon Swordsmanship]
Double Fantasia - A blindingly quick double slash from a state of nothingness. Twice as fast as any normal attack and is the pinnacle of all basic sword techniques.
-Every once in a while, either sword can be seen being controlled by telekinesis to execute this move, often confusing the enemy.
Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
That was not all, Jinn wasted no time and executed many moves in sequence.
“Scintilla,” Jinn said. Out of all the attacks that he can perform, this is probably one of his favorites.
Aura Techniques: [Skill - Heavenly Demon Swordsmanship] Scintilla - Generates a hypersonic array of chi waves that focuses on speed rather than explosiveness. Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
With that move alone, only 10% of Baldo’s troops remained. They were scurrying off fleeing like bunny rabbits after the technique, Heaven and Hell were witnessed. After that one technique, every soldier belonging to Baldo’s side was filled with fear. Even the Knights around the level of Peak Realm couldn’t believe what they were seeing. And just like that, Jinn chased after the remaining troops by jumping toward them. It looked as if he was flying as after-images were seen every time Jinn was in motion.
Not many techniques can be used with these numbers. Thought Jinn.
The number of troops allowed Jinn to produce one more technique to finish them all off. And, in the finishing attack, Lord Vicegerent would perform Dario’s original technique, Flare.
Aura Techniques: [Skill - Flare]
- An exclusive Aura Technique created by Dario Courtwell that condenses mana into a beam of concentrated light originating from the eyes. Can move in any manner; zig-zag, up, down, sideways, and in circular motions.
- In terms of the level of the attack in arcane spells, it would be considered 9th-tier.
Rank: EX Proficiency: 130%
(Author’s note: Has been changed to a technique and not an arcane spell.)
As the beam of grey light followed and pierced the bodies of the soldiers, they fell as if their strings had been cut. A hole the size of the whole human eye created a clean attack.
As of this moment, the last enemy is none other than Viscount Baldo himself. Floating in the sky like The Angel of Death, Jinn was staring directly at the noble. Befuddled and terrified, the Viscount had fallen to the ground when Jinn unleashed the massive chi waves.
“Looks like you’re the last of them. Pay for your sins in eternal Hellfire, vermin,” pointing his index finger towards the noble, a small black flame sprouted and engulfed him whole.
Arcane Spells: [Hellfire]
- Flames originating from Hell itself. Burns an opponent until ashes remain.
- Roasts the enemy in an excruciatingly slow manner as if time had slowed down for many centuries. Changes the feeling of pain to a level unimaginable to conceptualize.
Rank: 9th-tier Proficiency: 100%
A scream that can only be heard in the depths of Hellfire screeched on the quiet plains. It was an extreme moan that was terrifying to hear as if anyone hearing it would also feel that pain.
Screech. Groan. Scream.
Viscount Baldo was no more, and the 2000 troops were annihilated like specks of dust.
