Chapter 3 - Magic Test Along With An Unexpected Grudge

Chapter 3 - Magic Test Along With An Unexpected Grudge

Little did Damon know, a group of students standing in the dark corner were keeping their eyes on him. These students wore dark clothes and wore chains all across their body. They watched Damon walk away with enraged expressions on their faces.

When it was finally Damon’s turn for the magic test, he stepped forward.

He could use any type of magic skill he wanted to destroy the dummy in front of him, and depending on how damaged it was, he would receive a suitable score.

Now the instructor is asking for my skills too? I thought that purple-haired girl was the only person that cared. I should get some skills for myself sometime soon.

Damon thought about how he should carry out this task.

I’ll just run up and punch the dummy, that should work, right?

As he was lost in thought, the instructor ushered him to hurry up.

‘It’s not that hard, just strike the dummy with any skill you want. Hurry it up, there’s many other students waiting in line.”

Skills… I gotta get one soon. I don’t know how to use magic either, so I guess I’ll just go ahead with my plan.

Damon proceeded to walk up to the target and punched it with as much strength he could muster. The result was a small dent.

“You were supposed to strike it with magic power, anything else won’t damage it. Next please,” the instructor said with a bored expression on his face.”

Was I not supposed to do that? Everyone’s talking about skills — where can I get one? Oh well, I’ll try to do better on the knowledge test.

“Did he seriously punch that? Does he have any common sense? It’s a magic test, not a physical test.”

“As expected of a commoner, I don’t see why this school even allows them in here. How did he even beat Siena with pitiful skills like that?”

Many other students talked badly about Damon, but he just ignored it. The people standing in the corner were still carefully watching Damon. He felt gazes on his back and turned his head towards their direction.

Why are they watching me? Are they angry or something? I think I did see them cheering for Siena during the fight---- I should focus on my current task instead of these guys.

The insults continued, they were drowning all other sounds out. Damon could tolerate a few, but this was too much. They were really starting to get on his nerves, before Damon was about to explode with anger---

Stop, I need to stay calm. Take a deep breath. I can’t let my old personality take over again. It needs to stay locked away just like Mom said.

Damon calmed himself down and tried to not let the insults get to him. As time passed, the complaints died down, and all was quiet once again. He headed towards a worn out wooden bench and sat on it.

Damon looked around the training hall, he saw many different things. Students conducting tests with unfocused expressions, others whispering together in groups while occasionally glancing at Damon. Even though Damon’s physical test had been over 10 minutes ago, the only ones that seemed undisturbed by it were the instructors.

Everyone else was gossiping about the fight. Damon was clueless, everything that was taking place happened because he had achieved victory over Siena, yet Damon was the only one oblivious to that fact.

Suddenly, the group of boys watching Damon from the corner approached him in a rude manner. They crowded around Damon, who was sitting on a bench, resting. They were chewing gum and held blunt objects in their hands. Damon was confused as to why they walked up to him.

“Can I help you?”

“Yes ya can, get on ya fucking knees and beg for forgiveness. You disgraced our lady in front of the whole school. We won’t let you out of this one unscathed, until you beg for mercy and apologize.”

“And why would I have to do that? It was a fair fight, and I’m not even the one that requested it.”

Damon’s body ached from remembering that battle he had gone through.

“The lady hadn’t even used her full power. If she used her magic, you would be a pile of shit on the ground right now.’

The guy with a sturdy body build was the one speaking with Damon. He seemed like he was the leader of this small group of troublemakers, because his buddies were listening attentively and nodding to his every words.

“But she didn’t use her full power, you heard her say she wouldn't use magic too right? Don’t tell me you’re deaf.”

Damon provoked the group leader a little, because he was irritating him. It was his precious recovery time, he had to use this time wisely to prepare for the knowledge test, yet these guys were bothering him.

Can they just leave already? Otherwise, I might show a bit of hostility.

Damon started to voice his thoughts to the people standing in front of him. They wore glowering expressions on their faces as they heard each word that left his mouth.

“I think this guy needs a beating, right guys?”

The leader with the big build, and the gold chains rattling on his chest, received nods from his group members. They moved forward with blinding speed and sucker punched him. He staggered backwards, as his opponent landed a few more strikes in the same spot.

His ribs felt like they had snapped, but the group of boys continued to advance while simultaneously attacking. They dealt a few more bone breaking blows all over his body until he collapsed. Blood was streaming down his face, and his body was crumpled on the ground.

Damon was shocked that these people had managed to inflict so much damage in a short amount of time, but he couldn’t focus on that. The pain was overloading his senses, so he couldn't even think straight.

They bent down and held Damon’s head in their hand. Their hands were as rough as gravel, and were decorated with scars. They tilted Damon’s chin toward themselves.

“Here’s a little info for ya kid. Don’t go messing with the High Rankers. Otherwise us Middle Rankers are gonna come for you Low Rankers under their orders. Trust me, that ain’t good for ya buddy.”

The leader finished with his little lesson of how the school worked, he called his buddies and then they strolled away. That was so quick, that it had not even felt like a few seconds had passed.

Damon was left sprawled on the ground, unable to move a muscle. Blood was splattered everywhere, but no one else gave a look in his direction. It seemed like what had just happened was a regular occurrence in this Academy.

Damn BASTARDS! I’ll make sure to pay you back 100 times as hard when I get the chance! FUCK, it hurts like hell.

Curses were coming out rapid fire in his mind, but after spewing out these words for a few minutes, he returned to his old, timid self.

“Once I’m strong enough, I’ll become whatever these High Rankers are and rule the school. Once that time arrives, I’ll make sure you beg for mercy and apologize!”

What concerned him more was which High Ranker had gave them the orders to beat him up. It couldn’t have been Siena, because that group had been watching Damon ever since the battle with with Siena. There was a high chance that whoever hired those thugs was the same person that had grabbed Siena’s attention when she had just finished her 1st battle of the Physical Combat exam.

Why me again though? I haven't been in contact with anyone at this school, because it's only the first day!

He had a confused expression, until he thought back to the situation that had arose at the front yard of The Royal Academy. In reality, there was one person that Damon had talked to before this had all started. Damon visualized that person in his mind, their way of talking having left an impression, and their distinctive bright purple hair having grabbed Damon’s attention the moment he had laid his eyes on it.
