Chapter 6 - Huh?

I didn’t think it would be this easy to get information from him. Under the guise of a test to see if he’s fit to be my husband, I got tons of good information about my current surroundings. I feel a bit bad for doing this, but I need to get what I can.

This world is called Yvana, a world with magic and different humanoid races. The world is divided into five countries with each under the rule of one humanoid race. The country of humans, Moras; the country of beastmen, Abitas; the country of elves, Ri’Altas; the country of demons, Sinitas; and the country of celestials, Virtas.

I’m in Elian magic academy which is situated in them middle of Elian city, the capital of Moras. It’s one of the best magic academies not only in this country but also the whole world, only second to Vta’Nox magic academy of the elven country.

He didn’t say it directly, but based on what he said, this world is few hundred years behind in terms of innovation, except for the academies. The magic academies have developed technology in their own way, but they have yet to share it outside. Because of that, everything outside is the exact copy of the medieval period.

Magic academies gather individuals with body compatible with magic, which is rather few in number even for the other races. He said that only one out of a thousand people are born with magic and are considered the greatest assets of a country. Even those that came from poor families are treated like nobles once they show talent in magic.

Magic or magic force is one of the three powers that a mortal could use, the other two being supernatural force and life force. It’s the ability to make one’s imagination into reality by manipulating the mana residing in one’s body. Also, people are born with the affinity in only one element. Despite what I said earlier, it’s still possible to use the other elements, but there’s a great difference in growth rate compared to the main affinity, even if you have full understanding of the other elements.

A person’s element can be identified by taking an elemental test, either by paying or by taking the free one when entering an academy. One’s affinity not only dictates what path a magician should take, it’s also the base for one’s servant. An example would be Jecht Ralvas Edna, the silver haired man, summoning a fire bird which has the same type of element as him. His name sounds good, if only his personality is good....

I’m curious as to what my element is, but even if I look at Leor, I can’t really tell. Speaking of Leor, he fucking asked me if he could kill a person with a straight face. He did follow my command when I told him not to, but still, how can a child ask such question?...maybe he’s too innocent to understand the meaning behind his words? Right, he’s still a child, but I need to educate him as soon as possible.

Now to what’s more important. I just transferred here four days ago, at the same day the second quarter started. I came from Letan magic academy and got transferred here, since the headmaster of the said academy wanted me to study in a better one. Seems that Alice is a scholar....

He doesn’t know more about me, but what I heard should be enough. It would be creepy if he knew too much about me.

I could check more about my background in the teacher’s lounge, including my element. I’ll do it once the classes end.

Although we’ve been conversing for hours, it’s still early. It was just the first period when he went to the class to check on me, and left shortly after that. Why is he even in the academy?

Jecht, who was sitting in the sofa in front of me, said. “Is there more you want to ask?”

“No, that should be fine, thank you.”

With a smile, he stood up and said. “Then I’m fit to be your husband now right? Let’s get marr-“

“It’s just the first test, there’ll be more in the future. If you can pass them all, then I’ll marry you, no questions asked.” I’m a man of my word, but I never indicated how many tests are left, so I could prolong it until I can get back to my world....I’m such an evil person. No, he’s irritating, so it doesn’t count?

Dejected, he sat down. “If I pass them you’ll be mine right?”

“Yes, I promise.” I didn’t think it would be this easy to deal with him. I thought he would be more aggressive. Ah, he probably knows I can beat him up whenever I want so he’s behaving.

“Now that the test is over, you may go.”

Surprised, he stopped for a few seconds.“....Can’t I stay longer?”

“No, I have things to do. I won’t be able to entertain you, so go back to your dorm.”

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

“Don’t worry, just watching you is entertaining enough, so I’ll stay.”

Leor, who was sitting beside me stood up and stomped on the floor. “Master said that you should get out! So get out!”

No, I remember saying it in a nicer way....

“Oi, how dare you talk to me like that? You want to die?”

Oh now he’s acting like a normal delinquent? Doesn’t he like people who talks back to him? Shouldn’t he be happy that my servant is yelling at him?

“Stop that, don’t fall to his level Leor.”

Leor quickly sat down and said. “Yes master.”

Jecht look a bit irritated from what I said. “Hey!”

I glared at him after that. “Huh?”

“No, it’s nothing.”

“Look, it’ll be irritating for me if you stare at me while I’m cooking, so please go back to your dorm.”

“Cook? you can cook?”

“Um, yeah, but that’s not the point! Go back to your dorm!”

“Wait, I bought you some expensive supplements, so can’t I at least get a bit of your cooking?”

Your using that against me? “....Just get out.”

“Please, just one serving.”

“My cooking skills are average, so it won’t please a high class tongue such as yours, so I recommend going out and buying better food outside.”

“It’s fine, as long as it’s your cooking.”

“Why are you so desperate?”

“I don’t know, I just want to eat your cooking.”

Stubborn fool.... “Fine, just get out after eating.”

Sheesh, everyone around me is stubborn. Tsk, I guess I’ll let it slide, I did get the information that I need, but I’ll never let him inside again....

I stood up and went to the kitchen, with Leor following behind me while glaring at Jecht who was also glaring back.

After cooking, preparing the dishes, and setting the table, the three of us ate in the rectangular table in the living room, at the back part near the kitchen. Jecht seems underwhelmed by my cooking, but still ate it.

“I told you my cooking is average.”

“N-no, it tastes good.”

Lies, your hesitant answer and expression says the opposite.

Leor, who sat beside me, tugged my clothes and with an honest smile, he said. “Master’s cooking is good.”

Keh, you just haven’t eaten high class food yet....

Without me knowing, I was patting his head and he looked happy as I did. When I realized it, I pulled my arm and focused on eating. What was I doing?

After that, Leor continued eating but this time, there was a wide smile on his face and his tail was swinging wildly. Jecht on the other hand was glaring at him, full of hostility....Why are you getting jealous? Don’t misunderstand! He’s not even at that age yet and I don’t even like men!

When we finished eating, we returned to the sofa placed in the middle of the living room. I wanted Jecht to get out as soon as possible, but since he said he’s still too full to move, I let him stay longer.

Now I’m sitting in the circular sofa, with Leor sleeping in my lap and Jecht sitting in the opposite side of the sofa staring at me. “I’ll only give you ten minutes.” How could I tell time? There’s this clock hanged on the wall to my left. Seems that our worlds have the same concept of time.

“Fifteen minutes.”

“Fine, then eleven minutes.”

“Twenty”

“Twelve....”

“Thirty”

“....why does it keep on increasing so much? I’ll only let you stay here for fifteen minutes and if you’re still here by then, I’ll drag you out myself.”

“Then it’s fifteen minutes.” He said with a childish smile.

Ah, It feels like I’ve lost a battle....He continued to stare at me after that, but I let him off, since I did benifit from him today. When the fifteen minutes was over, he stood up and walked to the door on his own. “Thanks for letting me stay and letting me eat your cooking.”

While still seated on the sofa, with my back leaned in the direction of the door, I raised my hand and said. “Yeah, yeah, just get out.”

“I can’t wait to come here again tomorrow.” He said while opening the door.

“HUH!?” I quickly stood up, making Leor fall to the ground.

Leor woke up and held his head from pain. “Au”

“Ah, sorry Leor.”

“Huh?” Said Jecht.

“Huh?” I said while looking at the door.

“Huh?” Said the blue haired man who was on the other side of the door holding books on his arms.

....Eh?
