TUESDAY’S MEETING

“Next slide,” Tuesday droned and chart 5 wiped in from the right; she had set almost all the transitions to “Wipe”.

The faint snoring from the end of the conference table was interrupted by Wednesday loudly whispering, “sir!”

“If my projection is correct, safety will be at an all-time high next month.” Tuesday pointed to the last vertical bar which was incrementally taller than the bars before it.

“Thank you for your presentation, Ms. Tuesday,” Friday said. “It was informative. However, it’s now eleven which is when this meeting is scheduled to end, so I need to slip out.”

Tuesday forced a smile. “Of course. Next time we’ll try to get started closer to the scheduled time.”

“I too have another meeting to attend,” Monday said. “Excellent—err—graphs. Good work.”

Tuesday squinted against the projector’s beaming light and scanned the darkened conference room. The clicker spun on the polished wooden surface making no sound at all, or at least not a sound that could be heard over the projector’s fan.

She felt disappointment. Not because she’d only made it to slide 6 of 43; rather, because slide 7 was going to announce the party she had planned to celebrate the team’s achievements. The slide even used the “Curtains” transition.

A hand reached from the dark and took the clicker. “Next slide?” said a small voice.

“Oh. Yes, please, Thursday.”
