Arnei watched after the Cult leader of my cult leave. His steps lighter and a wide smile on his face. I sat in the garden, staring at the man’s back. I’d noticed a lot of the races in this universe seemed to follow a rather standard type of appearance. Humanish but with added features leaving me with the sort of feeling that whichever deity maintained this world didn’t seem to overly mind the general appearance of its inhabitants.
“Perhaps it’s something along the lines of making the planets of origin for the species try for a humanoid form?” I muttered aloud as I looked down at the tablet in my hand and with the other got a sip of some good Karinoch, a coffee-esque drink. It wasn’t as bitter and had a smooth taste which I had to admit to being fond off. I’d asked for seeds and information on the plant that was the drinks origin after the first sip. I’d experiment with imbuing the plant with different energies once I’d managed to grow my domain to the point growing plants.
Arnei had looked over at me when I’d muttered but didn’t speak any question she might have had wanted to ask. I ran my finger through the tablet with a list of sciences and resources that the cult had access to, now placed at my fingertips.
I’d asked the leader, a Gurth’nir named Albert Nyximar, to do a playful experiment along with the rest. The Gurth'nir being rather birdlike with feathered arms and more talon like hands with either two or three large and long feathers coming from their heads depending on gender. The males had the third and rather vibrant feather. Still though very human looking.
My memories I'd gained while in the “egg” telling me that giving such an experiment would be a fun thing for them to do.
The experiment? Well I told them to figure out if they all would be placed onto a planet with a medieval technological level what might they do to improve and perfect the crafts available to them without overly advancing the technological level of the planet.
Frankly my entire cult was some weird mix of nerds, scientists and craftsmen that somehow had kept their number at around a hundred members. The three they’d lost had been among the most hardcore faithful of the group when it came to the religious aspect and had volunteered to perform a ritual while staying inside the highly powerful manned probes before the star went nova.
Something about the cult had my subconscious tickling me with ideas and an… instinct, almost, to keep them and place them under my wing so to speak. As if I had a use for them, I just wasn’t figuring it out just yet. Though having highly skilled and educated individuals like them use their expertise to help me advance the crafts I’d have to use in Imerith and some of the other worlds I’d been given a glimpse of, told me I could get advantages that Imerith wasn’t prepared for.
Better to be over prepared than under. While the universe I was in now seemed like some generic new-age mutation of star wars if I had to put a name to the franchise it definitely wasn’t that particular galaxy. Much too clean and futuristic. Using my own cult in such an advanced universe to figure out ways to craft, train and other things beyond anything a medieval tech type world might ever think of while still staying within those confines just felt like a good use for them for now.
[The energies of your domain have recovered enough for dungeon core integration. Return and pass the trial.]
A notification popped up and caused me to frown. Was this a part of the quest system?
“Mr. Alta’farud?” A maid hesitantly asked as I noted I’d started to emanate not only the crawling electricity of [Quintessence] running along my hands and fingers but flickers of [Void fire] and [Soul-fire] had leaked out of my eyes.
When I looked towards her, she flinched so much at the sight of my skills displaying my emotional state that she’d taken six steps back. I softly smiled at her and breathed in, forcing the flames and electricity back into me.
“Excuse me…” I started noting the electric patterned burned into the cloth covering of the table we’d been having lunch at in the garden. My silence continuing as I looked up to see Arnei stiff and wide eyed.
“It appears my domain requires my attention.” I explained as I stood and adjusted my clothing a bit.
Areni spluttered and stammered incoherently for a bit before going silent as I spoke again. “I am afraid this might take a while… I do recall your father telling me about the island he intended to build a villa for me to have on another island. Please put the gate there once it is ready and Arnei could you be a dear and work with my cult a bit? I would appreciate a few facilities being placed under the villa so that they might work through my little experiment for them within. By all means collaborate with them for the villa's construction.”
She nodded while a few of the servants around looked on in confusion as I whistled my favourite tune while I made my way to a long pathway leading from the villa into the deep garden of the rest of the island. Kori quickly made her way to me when I called for her and the mortals all stared in awe as I ripped the fabric of the universe aside before me.
“Go on girl.” I said gently to Kori who changed back to her true form once she entered through to Ktep and I turned to look at Arnei as I started to change back to the [Autarch] once more. “It has been a pleasant visit if regretfully short, princess. Give your father my regards and thanks for his superb hospitality. And could you give him and my cult my regrets at not being able to stay longer?” I asked to her with a smile before my mortal guise fully faded and I gave the mortals a little wave as I entered Ktep.
This was my general trait at work, [Threshold of The Caliginous Sanctum]. It was a direct ability type trait that tied me to Ktep in such a manner that I could always return to it no mater where I was. I also suspected it was a sort of long-range awareness of my realm. I hoped, at least, that I’d keep the sense of the domain I’d had of the realm before the domain core was activated as the long range awareness. That way I’d hopefully know when there is an intruder in my realm should such a thing happen again.
As the tear closed I saw Arnei give me a shaky nod before it closed and left me breathing in the invigorating air of Ktep, now thick with the available energies. “So then... what is this trial you want me to take?” I asked with my true voice as I turned to look at the fountain, more focused on the domain core that had taken up residence in the eyes of the statues.
I felt Kori sprint away to explore the house and it’s Dais and left her to it as I pulled out the dungeon core from the spatial ring on my finger. I held the orb up to my eyes and mentally frowned at the sheer profound hatred that emanated from the orb. My eyes narrowed as I felt the domain core guide me and I turned so that I saw the Daises in their entirety. From the abode down to the central fountain dais and from there to the dais of worlds made a straight line. With a raised hand I called forth two more daises to rise from either side of the world dais connecting in the middle between the central and world daises.
From above the daises would resemble the Futhark rune of Algiz or the letter Z in that alphabet. Though of course with each Dais being circular it meant there were thick dots along the line the pathways between made.
The new daises were much smaller than the world dais was as I’d needed to keep the power I'd need to activate the dungeon core. The notification had served the secondary function of telling me the domain core had become full and ready for further use.
I then I felt a sudden pull on the dungeon core and I was dragged back a few steps towards my abode. I stared as my hand gripping the core was still pulled towards the abode dais.
I narrowed my eyes at the core as my own annoyance at the temperamental seeming core’s actions. “What is this?” I growled out as I felt the domain core whisper what I had to do or rather what the dungeon core was demanding for its treatment.
I tightened my grip of the core before I had it disappear back into the ring alongside my clothing. Then I changed to the Mingshe.
I had realized this morning, when I witnessed a serpent like creature that broke through the waves through the windows of my room, I hadn’t changed to the Mingshe once after I’d evolved. I felt the strength ripple and the pain was much more manageable rather than feeling every cell on fire and dividing forcefully as it had felt like before.
The scales sprouted through my skin as my limbs broke and rearranged themselves, my torso constricting and lengthening. My size ended up being that I had the girth of a big powerlifters thigh at my thickest while my overall length seemed to be around the sixteen meter range. I felt my ring had transferred to the thumb of my feathered wing, I still had no idea what word to use for this strange mix of bat and feathered wing that was my upper pair.
I could clearly see that these wings had now grown mature and I could walk on them much in the similar manner a wyvern would use its wings. Moving around the fountain a bit, I got used to both locomotion on the wings as well as folding them in and slithering around. I coiled up with my wings draped over my coils making it feel rather warm and cosy.
I felt Kori running around my abode and managing to somehow get inside it as well. A distinct impression of her making sure she knew every inch of my domain to be able to guard it. The excitement and firming resolve of the young pup I could pick up on buoyed my mood.
Letting out a little hiss as I raised my body up a bit and unfurled my wings fully. I raised my head and cried out in a sudden surge of enjoyment. The clear sound of a musical bell rang throughout my domain as I began to flap my wings, slowly gaining altitude until I flew over my domain. My cry of elation turning to my favourite tune to whistle and it played out as if by Bells as I enjoyed the feeling of true flight, something only my aspect of death had enjoyed in the lives before my current rebirth.
I dove, rose, twirled and barrel rolled in the air as I enjoyed this rush of elated freedom that ran though me as I let the bell like voice of a Mingshe sing throughout the domain. I noted Kori staring up at me as I circled the abode, her eyes looking like she was mesmerized. It took a bit to learn how to start the landing process as a Mingshe but my time as a dragon and the inherent instincts of my body gave me the hints I required to land, though heavily, on my wings like some snake wyvern. I looked around for a good place to place the dungeon on when I felt a rustling against my left feathered wing. Looking down I saw Kori rubbing herself against my wing and I couldn’t help but flick my tongue at her nose teasingly.
Kori sneezed from the slithering tongue flicking against her little nose and I hissed out a laugh as I folded up my wings and coiled up before I felt the slight tearing sensations of the change overcome me as I stood once more as the Autarch. Kori let out a yip of excitement as I put on the vestments again.
I decided to keep the ring on my thumb as it had transferred there somehow and moved on to listen to the whispers I was getting from the domain core. I turned my eyes to the back of the abode dais and made my way there, feeling the domain core connect to my mind more fully as well as linking somehow into the dungeon core within my ring.
I felt a tug at my own energies as the domain took what it needed for the added form the dungeon was… demanding for itself.
I saw the image of a gaudy tower that the… spirit? of the dungeon core was demanding to house it. I growled at the sheer brass fucking balls of not just showing me such disdain but then the arrogance of making demands of me.
I reached through the domain and raised something else, a promise and a symbol of the dungeon cores current situation. I raised a mausoleum designed to hold one large stone sarcophagus. The single room structure had a similar style as my abode, blending Norse and Persian influences though this one appeared to throw ancient Egyptian and gothic styles into the mix with murals of my true dual forms. Two Autarch’s stood on either side of the door inside and above the door was the head of the Mingshe.
I placed the dungeon core into the open mouth of the Mingshe and saw it become integrated into the structure. I’d made sure there was a mural of a gate inside the mausoleum that was then taken and turned to the entrance portal of this dungeon as I noted the extra-dimensional nature of the core now integrating into my domain.
Lights flowed out of the core and coalesced before me. From the lights stepped out an elf, a real Legolas type, long blonde hair handsome to nearly appear androgynous and a look of utter superiority on his face. A high elf if I’d ever seen one, dressed in pristine white robes as he stared around the ground in disdain before his eyes landed on me and he sneered in disgust.
“So you are the one that dares to open the trial of the gods?!” He almost shrieked in a smooth tenor.
I continued to stand there and stare at him even as Kori, most likely picking up what lay underneath the exterior, growled at the dungeons avatar. The avatar looked down and sneered. “Keep your mutt under control creature. Now answer me, did you dare to steal the trial of the gods? You think you’re even worthy of attempting it?” He half spat at me.
“You are perhaps the most arrogant spirit I’ve ever encountered.” I spoke with my true voice and seeing the slight discolouration on the spirits face would have made me smirk if my current form had lips.
The avatar was about to start to speak again but stopped as I raised up a hand. “Secondly, you seem to be under a very, very foolish misconception over your current situation. Look.around.”
The Avatar finally seemed to look around seriously and the continuously discolouring face he was displaying only grew the dark amusement I was having at the Avatar’s response.
“W-what is this? Where am I? Where is Lady Maara? D-Did you dare rob from the great gods?!” The avatar slowly grew more hysterical. Then I felt the dungeon core attempt to subvert the domain and draw in more energy to itself. An act I crushed with my will and cut off the core from any and all energy until I said otherwise.
The Avatar turned around and clearly took note of where I’d put its core and finally grew pale faced as I stepped up behind the 1.8 meter tall avatar, towering over him with my now 2 meter height. “That is a reminder and warning little core.” I growled and grasped my hand hard over the bottom of the avatar’s face to make sure he stayed quiet.
“I am the lord of this domain. I.AM.THE.GOD.HERE!” I roared as I raised the avatar up into the air as I fixed him with my gaze. “I choose whether you live or die little core. I choose if you are allowed to sup upon the power of my domain or if you starve. So take my next words under careful consideration. Act accordingly, your attitude and actions have placed you on thin ice.” I growled into the avatars face and I pulled on the core.
I saw it in the avatars eyes at last, the realization that I had him completely at my mercy and he’d made sure that my mercy towards him was in shorter supply now than before he’d opened his arrogant mouth. I tightened the grip a little more around his jaw before tossing the avatar to the ground before the mausoleum. The Avatar turned and stared up at me with plain fear on his face, flinching as I spoke softer this time yet no less harshly in tone.
“You should remember the saying among the divine. You don’t fuck with the elder gods.” I growled and that made the Avatar flinch before he fled back into his core in a flurry of lights.
I almost laughed aloud as I felt the core ooze humiliation and frustration interlaced with worry and fear. It was an interesting bouquet of emotions but I looked down and noticed Kori’s overall mood. The little pup was glaring hard at the core like she’d like nothing more than turn it into her first chew toy. I had half a mind of allowing it but the soft opening and closing of her lower jaw made me think better of it.
“No Kori we need it…. for now.” I telepathically spoke to her and she responded with a feral growl of anticipation. I took out some of the pillows and blankets I’d “procured” from the villa I’d stayed at.
I’d asked the maids which blankets and pillows they were going to throw away and spirited them away. There was some bizarre tradition of only allowing such things to be used for a maximum of five years for the royal family and its honoured guests.
I made a little nest for Kori to snuggle into in a corner of the abode for now. Something telling me I needed to be alone in the trial. “Rest here little one.” I said to her before I moved out of the house and towards the mausoleum.
I walked into the mausoleum as its doors opened and a spark of terror came from above me as I entered. The large sarcophagus that had risen up was a simple stone box with a lid on top of it. I put it on my mental to do list to have four sarcophagi in the mausoleum, each would have a likeness of those that made up my aspects carved upon their lids. I felt it was the least I could do for them.
My eyes then turned from the sarcophagus in the centre of the room to the mural so very like the Archway’s after their change upon the world dais. A soft blue portal filling up the open space for it in the mural. I stepped up to it and reached out with my mind and senses.
[Entering the portal will initiate the first trial, time in your domain will only pass as an hour. No matter how much time passes within. You will not leave until you pass this trial.]
I nodded and entered, flinching as I felt the triumphant malice blast out of the dungeon core as it realized I’d entered its domain. “Shit.” I cursed as I felt myself falling after stepping through the gate, the exits near low orbit height and increased gravity left my hovering ability only as effective as the smallest of parachutes as I plummeted down like a meteor.

Slowly I groaned as I crawled my way out of the crater I’d made as I’d landed from my plummet. “I’ll starve that fucking core and leave it as a gods damned paperweight at best!” I cursed out weakly as I felt the last of my energies sucked away into my body to try and patch together my torn and battered body.
“Still…” I muttered once I'd half crawled and dragged myself to reach the edge of the crater and turned around to stare up into the air. “Shouldn’t that have killed me?” I wondered aloud as I did the mental maths of the forces involved in the plummet I’d just taken, it was more instinctual than any real numbers but I was certain I wasn’t supposed to have survived the fall.
I might have been able to if I had the body of the titan… though I’d be more broken than I am now. Was it my eldritch nature that was the cause? Either way I’d been left utterly drained from the fall and as I turned my head I saw I’d landed in a barren wasteland.
[Survive the land]
The notification pinged off of the surface of my mind, only allowing me to acknowledge it before it dispelled on its own. I groaned and slowly turned back over onto my belly and unsteadily got to my feet. It took longer than I was comfortable in admitting but it did leave me with a wandering thought as I looked over the crater. How had I survived such a fall?
A burbling sensation ran throughout my body and I shook from the fresh agony forcing me down to my hands and knees. Once I thought it had ended I arched my back and roared out as the anguish rocked through me again. I saw as my starry flesh bubbled and roiled as a sickening black spread through the star scape and all I could do was watch in horror as the universe displayed with my skin turned cold and black, utterly lifeless.
I felt my aspects spring to life within me, life, creation and death crying out in horror while oblivion sang out in utter delight. “W-what? Nononononononono!” I started to frantically mutter as I panicked almost clawing at my darkening skin. I felt a gnawing hollowness build within me and to my horror I watched the black hole in my chest blend in with the all consuming black that had taken over my skin.
A heavy and powerful heartbeat rocked me and I felt as if my entire skin had somehow become a black hole. I felt so horribly hungry and thirsty, so damn empty it felt like it was eating at my very soul. In desperation I pulled on the three crying aspects dragging them back to fight oblivion before it took me.
Slowly black ichor began to seep from the invisible pores of my skin as I had to force the aspects against one another. I let myself fall down, feeling I didn’t even have the strength to stay on all fours as before. I felt the same ichor rise up like bile as the front of my mouth tore open so it could be released as the aspects battled within my very being.
Life and death worked perfectly together as they were simply different sides of the same coin as I understood it. Creation and Oblivion though.
I’d fallen into some sort of state of manifesting within myself outside the horrendous anguish of my body fighting its own insides as the aspects tried for dominance. I reached out and gripped oblivion with my mental grasp, its inherently corrosive nature beginning to burn at my mental fist. Only the combined power of life and death manifesting within my mental body somehow kept the corrosion in check.
I reached out towards creation with my other hand and with a roar of defiance burning through my mind I slammed the two aspects together.
I already knew I couldn’t slam the two together in the same way life and death did. There was a dichotomy between the two that didn’t allow the two to coexist like life and death did and I realized the difference.
My aspect of creation wasn’t the same as what was the opposite of the void of oblivion, my creation was the creation brought on by ones own hands, own work and the myriad possibilities of such creation but it wasn’t spontaneous and neither was it the total power of creation. My creation felt... immature in some way.
I snarled at the aspects as I let all four of them feel my displeasure. “I am the god here, you are part of me!” I slammed all four aspects together as my senses opened and drew in any and all energy that I could, feeling it come but as nothing more than simple droplets while I needed a flood.
I compressed everything together, be it energy or aspect, with the ever shifting configuration of how the aspects were behaving and reacting.
Slowly I began to feel a resonance when the whole jumble reached some specific configuration that was the correct one but I never managed to keep it in that configuration for more than a moment. It meant I never got the configuration correct when I tried to recreate it.
Slowly as I felt my mental strength faltered I managed to separate the aspects and energies so that they were as close to one another as I could without causing the same instability as before. For now the aspect of oblivion had been beaten down into submission as any feedback I’d directed as much as I could into that aspect to attempt to weaken it.
I slowly opened my eyes, coughing and spluttering the last of the black ichor from my throat. I’d somehow slid back down into the crater and lay in the centre of it, a large pool of the ichor surrounding me and holding me half submerged within it.
[Sprout the Seed]
Another brief notification flashed in my mind and I growled internally. What was going on? What was this Seed? My mind reeled as I tried to figure things out while the pain finally subsided. My body left ragged, internally battered and weaker than an exhausted kitten. My vision even blurring with each beat of my heart as I desperately tried to drink in any and all energy in the world around me.
I decided to close my eyes and rest a bit, just for a little while.
-
“What the hell is that?” A voice snapped me awake. I didn’t know how long I might have passed out for but the pain, while lesser, was still throbbing throughout my body. Slowly I opened my eye to turn my gaze to the voice.
“A monster?… is it dead?” Another asked as my eye caught sight of were the voices were coming from. They looked like… cavemen? Both wore tattered furs and held spears as they looked at one another then they made their mistakes.
“Should we make sure its dead?” The first to speak asked and I slowly stirred. My indignation of the continued failures of humanity were brought to the forefront of my mind.
When I had stood up to glare at the two humans who stood there frozen as they stared at me, I let my hunger off the reigns and felt my body speed forwards straight at them. The last thing the first one ever saw was the tearing open of my maw, the other got a face full of a bolt of [Quintessence].
With both dead I devoured the two almost to the bone. I drank in their blood and devoured their flesh filling the gnawing void that my stomach had become but it wasn’t enough. I still hungered beyond anything I’d ever experienced before.
I was on all fours and almost sniffing at the ground like a ravenous beast, searching from where they’d come from. I noted the tracks in the wasteland but before I followed the tracks I saw the bones left behind evaporate into the air.
I stared for a while before it clicked in my mind that even if it felt like it was a world I’d fallen into, this was a dungeon. Then I felt all the sustenance I’d gathered from the flesh evaporate as well and I was left hungrier than before. I curled up in the fetal position, my hands around my stomach as I felt as if I was eating myself from the inside. I opened up my pores, my inner self, mind, cores and everything I could as I drank in the world around me.
A song came to mind and I laughed as I sang the part of it I felt fit my current self. “Everyone will become my food!~” I sang half mad from the severe and sudden feeling of starvation after the suffering from before as I sprinted along the tracks. I’d devour this entire fucking dungeon till I was sated. Nothing would fucking stop me!
-
I growled, my starvation having only grown after finding a tribe of humans and devouring it down to each and every member. Whenever the bones dissipated my hunger only grew but I was soooo damn hungry I ate them all without much thought or even notice.
Now I sat atop the remains of the furs and supplies the travelling tribe had been carrying after I’d slain and eaten the lot. My open cores hungrily finding all four of my natural energies and as I didn’t see anything living I could try and eat I sank into meditation to try and sustain myself through the energies I hungrily pulled in instead.
It felt like rain on parched earth. My body drinking it all in and even reaching out for more as I manipulated the energies to try and create a funnel or vortex around me to draw even more into me. In the end I somehow managed it but I had to start with an inner funnel of eldritch with a wrap of mana and chi held together and guided by aether in an outer funnel around the while thing.
I felt the consolidation of the energies as they were somehow guided to consolidate into a river comprising the first three energies. Held together and guided by the growing winds of aether whipping around me as I just continued to suck in all I could of the energies. A tug from my insides caused me to involuntarily let out a blast of [Quintessence] and felt it slip into the aether as if belonging to it.
The river slowly grew from being a steady stream to roiling rapids crashing down into me, through me and into my cores and I revelled in it. I felt the notifications bloom into existence at the back of my mind but I didn’t care to check. I was too enamoured with drinking it all in.
The force of the last coalesced energies slamming into me sent me tumbling backwards to fall off of the rubble of my ill fated feast. I chuckled to myself as I felt my cores glowing and overstuffed. I felt sated and the feeling of the pain of starvation was finally leaving me.
“Of course I can’t enjoy a moment can I?” I grumbled as I felt the pressure building in my cores while the etheric winds blew through my insides more and more. Then a new pain erupted as I felt my insides shatter.
[The seed grows]
The notification was the last thing I managed to consciously acknowledge before all I knew was pain once again. It continued for what felt like forever and I eventually grew numb to it, though my mind was more or less mush by that time. When I came back to myself I couldn’t help but let out a pained groan as I slowly sat up rubbing my forehead.
My everything hurt like my entire body was one big bruise but it was fading away slowly but noticeably as I took in the small wisps of energy in the air around me.
I waited until I was clear headed enough and had allowed my body to recover enough to function, relief at the simple fact I didn’t feel that gnawing hunger any more. I sank into myself and had to marvel once more at the changes that had happened.
It looked as if I had a small world within my body as I felt the distinct trace feeling I got from extra-dimensional objects through my senses. I still didn’t know how I knew that distinct feeling or could even detect it but I figured it was something from my eldritch nature that allowed it.
My internal world appeared with its bottom a puddle of a liquid the purest blue I’d ever seen and possessing an inner glow. The feeling of it was what told me it was mana. Above this mana puddle floated a small golden core emanating chi in a purity I didn’t think it was supposed to be able to achieve at such low cultivation. Then above that core lay my heart, all six chambers pumping while the organ’s veins shone a baleful green as it stored and allowed the eldritch energies to saturate my body. A slight shine to the flesh made me think of crystallization.
Were my insides changing to create or accommodate something I needed for my growth? I stared for a long time before I noticed the small almost vine like sprout that connected to my heart and down from there to the chi core. From the chi core though were three smaller vines that gave the chi core a sort of tripod perched above the puddle look overall.
I moved my mental fingers inside myself to run my finger tips along this new sprout I didn’t know what was but before I reached the sprout I felt the winds. The etheric winds I’d stirred up had followed into my body and I felt the wind charged with [Quintessence] static that left my mental hand tingling as I pulled it back.
I sat there among the remains in the middle of the wasteland for a while pondering what I’d felt and seen within myself. Then I grimaced a little and opened up the notifications that had been clamouring for my attention since I’d waken up.
[You’ve forcefully mutated the trait [Maddening Sustainability 1/7] to accommodate this change a sacrifice of 1 general trait point, 3 skill points and 10 stat points have been seized. To further grow the trait draw out more of your nature.]
I cursed at the first one though I was mollified after [Esoteric Knowledge] told me I no longer needed to eat and could I survive in any environment that a mundane land dwelling creature could. It left me to wonder what this trait could do in the end.
[Esoteric Knowledge] told me the trait’s description was in fact derived not from the eldritch creatures ability to bring terror, madness and destruction in their wake but this trait in fact was derived from the remarkable difficulty in killing one. It made me realize I now could, quite literally, survive on any planet as long as it had land based organisms not of eldritch origin but mundane. Mundane meaning in this case any place that could hold and support natural life I was able to survive in.

I frowned and decided to bring [Mental Fortitude] up into apprentice grade for my remaining skill points. I then pondered what to do with my 16 remaining stat points.
Having lost ten already I wanted to spend them before anything else decided to take my points from me. In the end I decided on putting two points into every stat but presence. Then once I'd finished with the resulting changes I pulled up my status and pondered what had changed, seeing the change I suspected those sudden and short notifications had spoken of.
