Piltover - Veteran's Center - [The Future]

Lawson broke the silence, curiosity tugging at him. "What happened after that?"

"Jayce carried his science partner to his lab, used some shit called the Hexcore to stabilize him." Woods leaned back in his wheelchair, letting out a weary sigh. "Meanwhile, the civvies in the uppercity were freaking out. All because of that incident with the councilors, and the street that got blown to hell. Casualties, people losing loved ones—standard chaos, but it hit harder than anything they'd seen before."

Woods paused giving out a dark chuckle, "So much for fucking peace."

He paused, his gaze growing distant. "But this wasn't just any chaos. This was the first time the upper city was really challenged by the undercity. It was a wake-up call Piltover wasn't ready for."

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

Lawson furrowed his brows, sensing something in Woods' voice. "Sounds like you know a lot about it... like you were actually there."

Woods nodded, his expression grim. "Because I was. Me and Mason, we were there, watching it unfold up close."

He paused, memories flashing through his mind. "It was some ceremony. Councilor Mel Medarda was doing her usual thing, giving one of those speeches—heroic, promising the city that they'd hunt down the ones responsible for the chaos." He trailed off, his voice lowering, as if he could still hear the echoes of that day. "But then... something happened."

Lawson leaned forward, captivated. "Happened? What do you mean?"

Woods took a slow breath, as if bracing himself to relive it. "Some enforcer... or at least we thought. Started moved through the crowd, quick, silent. The next moment, chaos erupted like a bomb. Mel... the councilors... they never saw it coming."
