Chapter two
A Fight with Spiders for Freedom.
The island was tiny in comparison to the size of the planet, but Bella Grande was a very large planet almost six times the size of earth. On the planet’s the size of Bella Grande, gravity tended to be extremely high. To go down to the planet’s surface, you had to wear an anti-gravity suit, or one year of gravity assimilation to walk on the surface. Being pirates, they weren’t known for their hard-working ethics. So, they waited for the imperial ship to make its move thinking they were not seen.
On the surface of the Island was a heavy set, a young girl, Sky. She was hurrying through a densely wooded forest. The forest trees were very old and very tall at over a kilometre (.62 miles) high twenty to thirty metres (’66-’98 ft.) wide. The trees were more like that of coral and grew slowly with no real threat from insects or animals to stop or slow their growth. The girl, Sky, had a mass of long blue hair that was wavy and was down her back, in the high gravity that was very impressive. Her face has soft features and a cute button nose. She would tell you that her eyes were her best feature, blue eyes and long lashes. She had a slight build for being nine-years-old hidden by two bulky bodysuits under her clothes.
The sky was hurrying while trying not to run home because she was going to be late for her curfew. She was told not to run in her special suits because they tend to stretch out of shape. Sky was going home from the library after studying to advance into courses at the local high school. She was smart enough, Sky just needed to know what her course requirements were. After seeing the requirements an even higher level of education was possible it just they were too far for her to travel on her own. She was quite fit looking physically; she had no equal on the planet in mental aptitude. Not being able to hold books or handle computers directly greatly slowed her ability to feed her thirst for knowledge. She had no real friends to speak of not for the lack of trying. Sky was just too awkward to be around; she couldn’t touch or be touched by anyone except her parents. She wasn’t allowed to play any sports and no physical activities with other people or to exert her body too much. Sky was too smart, too clumsy, and too cute. She wanted to skip through grade school and be around what she thought would be older and more mature people.
Today she was kind of happy while looking for research material she found a book on magical theory and practical uses of magic. It was written as if it was a real book of magic from the looks of it. The book of magic made some sense of how it was to work. A lot of it was based on mathematical equations of elemental forces and energy transference. It was almost scientifically sound in the way she understood the mathematical calculations. She never reached any spells or incantations before she had to leave; she was going to be late as it was. Sky’s mother and father always told her there was no such thing as real magic. Sky thought, at one time she could use real magic until her mother told her it was just a rare ability, no one like to see being used or even discuss. The way she could push and spark was a psychic ability, not magic. Sky had little chance of practicing her psychic abilities because between school and her after school studies she had next to no time to try her abilities.
As of late, she had been a little jumpy with all the talk of monsters being around. This night on a full moon she could see quite well without an illumination sphere. Her skin felt like it was humming with energy. She was still wearing and had her to wear two bulky, tight-fitting bodysuits. She was told it was to protect others and things from the oils or something she excretes through her skin among other things. She didn’t know what it was made of, but she knew they were expensive to buy. The suits were very thick and restricted her movements enough to make her seem clumsy and slow at times. Sky seemed even more awkward after she had been refitted with her new bodysuits. They were very durable, and she didn’t have to be overly careful putting them on, at least not like her outer clothes. The clothing she wore over her suits, she seemed to rip at least every other day. Without the suits on, whatever she touched seems to crumble or turned like putty in her grasp. Sky had special thick rubber soled shoes she wore that helped her prevent shocking people and things around her.
Tonight, she had a fright, and her shoes fell apart when she suddenly twisted on the balls of her feet causing them to rip apart. She was becoming more and more nervous as she navigated through the woods. Now in the forest, she was turning at every sound she heard, and power started to radiate from her body. Once she raised her hands as if to block and she pushed her hands out as if to hold something unseen back with the invisible force she called pushing, causing wild arcs of power in front of her. She had made bigger ones before when she was afraid of the dark. It was not too dark outside tonight. In the woods, she was seeing monsters moving in the shadows. The air seemed to shimmer and crackle with energy flowing around her. She started sparking more and more as her power charged up.
She had come close to a huge tree when a massive spider came scurrying down the immense trunk. The spider was as large as a small car. She instantly brought up her hands, and the shimmering air seemed to force the spider against the tree, pinning it so she could get a better look. She peered at the spiders eight eyes that were as big as dinner plates, black as a starless night and seemed to focus on her, seeing right into her soul. Its fangs were longer than a man’s arm. The tips were dripping with a yellow caustic smelling fluid. With little thought, she pushed a little harder, and there was a bright arc of power squashing the spider against the tree trunk even moving the tree slightly. Before she had a chance to get a grip on what just happened, more of the giant arachnids started down the trees all around her. With little thought she repeated the previous action and arcs of power brightened up the forest; she squished more of the hideous spiders as they came down the trees around her. Some of the spiders made it to the ground and circled her to attack her from behind. The bright flashes were making it hard to see after each time she pushed. Swatting the spiders off her back was like popping huge water balloons and the spiders would burst from the blows she landed. The huge spiders didn’t even try to dodge or avoid her attacks. They tried to stab her with their dripping fangs. The venom from its was eating away at her outer clothes making the air smell foul.
The fangs would sometimes go down the side of her face doing no damage except to themselves; it was like toothpicks against armoured plating. When the fangs with its venom dripping, snagged her clothing it would tear away and be dissolved by the venom. Her bodysuit fared better when the fangs caught the edge of the suit, it peeled a bit; but the venom started to weaken the integrity of the suit. The venom did not affect her own body other than the foul odour wrinkling her nose in disgust. Large holes started to appear in the fabric revealing the bodysuit beneath as they tried to bite her. She was repeatedly getting hit from behind, knocked down, and the fangs raked down the back of her head almost to her waist ripping her clothes even further. To Sky, the fangs felt like a feather pulled against her head, tilled it pulled down the edge of her suit. Limbs of spiders were getting tangled in her hair and getting caught. When that happened, she would jerk her head and severed any limb that was caught giving her a shower of thick dark orange blood.

Sky had the strength, but not the weight to fight to the horrid spiders effectively. Every time she regained her feet and stood, she would just get knocked down again. She couldn’t push and get all the spiders around her because there were so many. While being so large, they were incredibly fast, and one or more always seemed at her back. With the increasing numbers of monster spiders, she had to start using both her hands separately to make multiple attacks at once. Sky’s outer clothes were now completely ripped or burned from her bodysuit. She noticed a burning feeling going up her feet. Sky’s bodysuit was starting to take more damage from the nasty monsters. The spiders’ fangs were starting to gouge her bodysuit deeper with every scrape along the surface. Some fangs went in between her skin and bodysuit and injected large volumes of venom inside of her suit. The venom in the suit made her feel disgusting as she moved. Some of the fangs even broke off inside of her suit as she moved around. She was getting extremely frustrated with the swarming spiders; they were not giving her a chance to rest. Every time she squashed a spider, it seemed like ten replaced it. She was starting to get very angry and lose control of the power she held as she was hit from behind repeatedly. She was forcing out her frustration out around her as pure energy.
The power pouring out her body started to act like a force field of pure physic energy. She stopped worrying about anyone else around getting hurt. Had anyone else been around the spiders would have eaten them after liquefying them with their venom. She was not holding back as she hammered the loathsome creatures. Some of the spiders were shaken off the trees to fall over top of her. She would wave a hand like a blade over her head causing them to be cut in half; it rained blood and gore from the torn bodies over her head. Nothing was able to touch her because telekinetic energy was pouring out of her whole body creating a two metre (‘6. 7” ft.) barrier around her. Because of the barrier, it stopped the spiders from attacking from behind. Holding her hand out palm up was getting a little tiring and awkward, so she started to try using her fist like some vids she had seen and was soon punching the magic energy at the spiders. As the battle went on the huge trees around her were starting to be pushed over, and huge chunks of the trees trunks were being blasted off in her efforts to keep herself from being closed in by the big, ugly, and stinking spiders. The spiders kept coming from all around, and her hands weren’t enough, so she started using her feet. Kicking and punching at the spiders were starting to be kind of fun acting like the people on the vid shows she secretly watched. It felt amazing being able to move without worrying she might hurt someone. Still not being allowed to exercise much left her endurance lacking, so she tired easily. Any time she tried to rest, the ugly things would be covering her bubble of safety.
Sky just wanted to go home; she was getting very tired from the constant fighting. The burning feeling was now up past her knees and was still travelling up her body. The pain she felt was like nothing she had ever felt before. Her near indestructible body had never been hurt to any extent before. So, she never felt the pain of any kind except for her feet. Every time she tried to go towards her home for help, a mass of spiders would come from the direction she headed, halting any progress Sky had to move so fast she became a blur of motion as she fought. Sky was positive the spiders were coming mostly from above, from something not of this world. The twisting of her head in quick jerking motions caused her long blue hair to crack like a whip with kinetic energy shooting out from the ends. The piles of the dead spiders were getting quite high, almost like a tall wall of death around her. The wall of bodies left her with no place to even run. She did not want to climb over the wall of shattered oozing stinking spiders.
From space, the magic arcs of power started flashing like crazy from one location. The amount of magic being used would be able to level a large city. It was next too impossible to get a visual of the combatants because the flashes of magic were constantly whitening out the vid screen. It seemed multiple large shapes were moving towards to arcs of power. The magic users must be using extreme spells or very new to casting magic, because so much raw magical power used per spell. "Fred, you getting the readings from those castings what kind of mages can wield magic like that. They could be using a lot of magic talismans to throw so many powerful incantations around like they are. It’s like the magic is being sprayed around from an extremely high pressurized hose”. The incantations seem to all be the same spells, no variations to the magic castings.
"Joe, I think we've got to suit up and find out, once the magic castings slow down." Fred’s hands and eyes were flashing across the controls and monitors. "Joe there seems to be some hole in the fabric of space and the spent magic is being drawn into it." Joe checks the screen before him and barely seen the anomaly because of the amount of raw magical energy all around. "I may be able to close it with a tight proton beam fired into the centre.”
"What are you waiting for a smile? Do it, something like that can't be good. Who knows where it’s leading to and what could be happening with it? Why are you asking me any way you’re the senior officer, and captain, no need to ask me what to do?” Joe said while watching it on his displays.
“I was just asking for your input, not your permission to do it,” Fred exclaimed. Fred targeted the laser to fire the proton beam at the hole. Zooming in to target to the hole wasn’t easy, with all the bright flashes from the powerful arcs of magical energy. Fred still seen large shapes moving around the ground passed the hole. To him, they looked like giant spider silhouettes, but spiders don’t get that big anywhere he knew of. Once he had a lock-on the hole, he fired the proton beam.
Sky was starting to feel the burning sensation moving up now passed her sore abdomen. As the fighting continued, her muscles were getting increasingly sore all over as the burning feeling moved more quickly up her body. She was wondering if she could last any longer when there was a type of energy beam fired from above her. Sky, thinking it was another type of attack on her, she panicked. She got ready with the last of her physical energy, to go out with a bang. She pulled her hand's fingers spread wide towards each other to compress as much energy as she could hold. Sky formed a bright ball of condensing power as she closed her hands together. She still gathering more energy from within her and around her small form. She is embracing the bright writhing ball of kinetic energy to her chest still compressing yet more telekinetic energy into it. Her body felt like it was on fire; the burning sensation now was washing all over her entire body. Sky couldn’t take much more of the intense pain; this had to stop one way or another. She didn’t know what she was doing, but she knew and felt it was going to be extremely big. The spiders piled up over her shrinking bubble of safety just meters (6 ft.) from her, she flung her head back and arms wide flinging her ball of kinetic energy out from her, screaming in rage "Just die already." As the ball of energy rose from her body, it encompassed her and disintegrated everything it touched in its path as it moved out from her in a brilliant flash of thunderous kinetic energy. She closed her eyes because the spell light encompassing her was so bright after the bright flash of intense power and an almost deafening sound of thunder.
Sky’s vision was spotted from the extremely bright flash of raw energy. Sky stared around her dazed her bodysuit had deep scratches on the back and sides. Between her and the spiders, the top layer of the suit was ruined. Even the front had some gouges in it. Sky was thinking ‘Mommy was now going to be upset with me for ruining the suit along with making part of the forest disappear.’ Sky looked about viewing the devastation her blast had caused. For almost one hundred metres (328 ft.) nothing stood about her not even the stumps of the huge ancient trees, everything was gone, simply, gone. The ground was flat, smooth as glass with no marks but her footprints as she turned about looking at her surroundings. On the edge of the flat ground rose a wall almost five metres (’16.5 ft.) high. There didn’t seem to be anything else attacking or even threatening nearby. Exhausted, and with a burning feeling all over her body, she keeled over and collapsed to the ground, into unconsciousness.
