Authors note:
First off I apologize for not getting as far as I planned with the re-write, work demanded overtime. Second I’m changing the name of the spell [Cataclysm of the Lightning Saint] to just [Lightning Cataclysm].

Time passed slowly for Ren. All he was doing was watching the goblins and send updates to Powell, Lixiss, or Azriel who would pass them on to the army commanders. It’s been about four days. Sometimes the goblins would get themselves worked up and it would look like they were going to move out but then they would calm down and return to normal. Ren would also them lugging around this large stone statue of a shockingly beautiful women with a frown on her face sitting on a throne of skulls. As the statue was carried around all of the goblins would kneel down and down to it, making Ren think that this was a statue of some goddess. While see 50,000 goblin worship a statue was a bit weird, the most disturbing thing was that the Goblin King would have the statue placed next to him, almost as if it were his queen, and gaze endlessly at it.
As the fourth day came to a close the goblins started to work themselves into a frenzy again. Ren wait a few minutes for it to die down but this time it didn’t. The goblins frenzy kept growing and growing, causing the goblins to become more and more frantic. They were hitting their weapons against the ground, yelling, screaming and jumping. Ren sent a message to his friends telling them that the goblins might be moving out soon and prepared himself to attempt to stall them. By now the goblins had worked themselves into a bloodthirsty horde. It was actually quite terrifying to be near. The gobbling king let out and loud roar and the gobbling horde roared back before and running right towards Ren.
Ren’s heart was beating a mile a minute and his body was trembling from a combination of fear, excitement, the virtual adrenalin coursing through his veins, and of course the from the ground shaking from the impacts of 50,000 goblin feet. Ren planted his feet and, for the first time, started casting [Lightning Cataclysm]. The cast time was pretty long for a spell and it had a lengthy chant, which appeared in front of him as glowing words.
Oh Chyr lord of lightning,
Heed this ones call,
Let death to those before me befall,
Grant this one you’re heavenly thunder,
Give to me you’re lightning sunder,
CATACLYSM!
The goblins were only 50 feet away from Ren when he finished the chant. They had caught sight of him while he was casting and started running even faster towards him. Ren aimed at the ground 30 feet or so in front of him and when the goblins reached that point he unleashed the spell. Ren felt his upraised arms heat up as all of his mana was rapidly sucked into the spell. Above the point Ren was targeting, near the roof of the cavern, appeared a massive magic circle 20 feet in diameter filled with intricate, bright blue lines that gave off an aura of overwhelming power. Flowing out of the circle was a mass dark, almost black, clouds that flickered with a blueish-gold lightning. There was an earth shattering roar as the dark clouds let loose their deadly contents. Because the roar was so loud, and because it was inside an enclosed space, it damaged everyone within 100 feet, stunned everyone within 500 feet, and deafened everyone with in with 1000 feet. It was even heard by those waiting above ground. Before the sound passed the lightning started descending. Every time a bolt struck it would incinerate a goblin or two and damage the surrounding ones. The lightning bolts also caused more thunder to roar out. Though it wasn't as powerful as the first one it still stunned those close to it where the lightning bolt struck but weren’t killed.
When the first roar of thunder had boomed out Ren was pushed back several steps and took 524 damage. The tunnel he was in had amplified the power of the thunder casing him to take more damage. A notification had also popped up to inform him of the debuffs he had received because of that first roar of thunder.
System Message You have received the following debuffs:
Deaf: Cannot hear and sound. Immune to sonic damage. 10 minutes
Disoriented: Get lost more easily. 3 minutes
Nausea: Combat effectiveness reduced by 80%. Cannot cast spells. 2 minutes
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Dizzy: Unsteady on your feet. Evasion increased by 60% due to unpredictable moments.
1 minute.
As Ren read the notification he suddenly had a hard time standing and he felt awful. Ren used the wall to steady himself and retreated down the tunnel. With his hand on the wall he could feel the entire place shaking. Looking back Ren only saw a large mass of dust blocking his view. What Ren didn't know was that the power of the lightning strikes combined with the power of the thunder in and enclosed space caused the tunnel entrance to collapse and caused many small, and several large, stalactites to fall from the ceiling, killing some and injuring many more. As Ren made his way further from the cavern he received a steady stream of notifications informing him of the goblins dying from the lighting. They lasted for 35 seconds, after which the spell ended. Ren lost count of the number of kills but he did gain three levels. After the spell ended he received a notification.
Ding!
System Message Because you damaged yourself while using [Lightning Cataclysm] and Chyr
doesn't believe you actually knew what you were doing he has restricted
your access to [Lightning Cataclysm] until such time that Chyr believes you
need it or have proven you are capable of controlling it.
"Seriously?!" Ren shouted out loud, though he couldn't hear himself, "Do you not think I've learned my lesson or something?" he yelled to the tunnels ceiling.
Ding!
System Message Yep
Ren stared at the second notification the just popped up bewildered and stunned into silence.
Did a god just answer me? Ren thought. He knew that the gods were just more advanced AI but he was still stunned.
After a few moments Ren managed to collect himself and kept moving, making sure to watch out for goblin patrols. He sent a message to Powell explaining what and happened down there, though Ren left out the part of the god contracting him and of him being a saint. It would sound crazy.

*ABOVE GROUND*
The camp was in chaos. Solders were running around staging supplies and reinforcing their defenses. Just a few minutes ago they had received an order to prepare for a goblin assault and they didn't know how long they had. Suddenly the ground started shaking. While it wasn't that strong the tremors were still noticeable and caused the entire camp to stop what they were doing and fall silent. After a moment a muffled roaring came from the mouth of the tunnel. The roaring and tremors lasted for a full 35 seconds before stopping. Once everything fell silent the camp burst into activity again, this time with more energy as they tried to prepare even faster than before.
In the command tent all of the commanders looked a very confused Powell, who was their link to Ren. After a few minutes Powell's look of confused contemplation turned to one of shock as he read the message Ren sent him. What Ren had told him, and what he told the commanders in front of him, was that he had used his lightning spell to cause the tunnel near their cavern to collapse and that he was on his way up. What Ren had told them, while it wasn't false, obviously wasn't the whole truth. The commanders sent for the most powerful lighting mage they had, a fourth circle Great Mage, and asked them if it was possible. After the mage thought for a moment he said it was but the caster would need either a lot of raw power or very good accuracy and control and that they would need to be as least a 3rd circle mage. This left the commanders to wonder just who it was in the tunnel.

What do you guys think of the chant? Good or cheesier than a cheese festival?
