[ Grave Loss ]

An inexplicable feeling of power is now coursing throughout his entire body.

A level of power and talent that a typical human could not approach or accomplish in their former world.

An inexplicable feeling of power is now coursing throughout his entire body.

A level of power and talent that a typical human could not approach or accomplish in their former world.

White was overjoyed, but he also immediately took back control of himself so that his newfound strength wouldn't take over him.

He first released his grip on the Itak and slapped his cheek with both hands, checking if he was just dreaming or not.

"Wooaah, is this real?" White clenched his cheeks till they turned beet-red.

His gaze slowly drifted towards the Itak, "Should I cut myself just to make sure..." almost grabbing the Itak, White's sanity returned and shocked his head like a madman.

'Control thyself, self. Control thyself..' He sighed deeply as he thought of this.

After confirming, acknowledging, and changing his viewpoint and comprehension of his newly acquired powers and reality, the young man begins searching for monsters that are comparable to the one that he killed until he's completely satisfied.

An hour has gone by.

A question lingers in White's thoughts.

"Why isn't my Exp Bar increasing?" he mumbled after slicing the monster in half, who suddenly rushed at him like an angry bull.

White Alyan accepted that the world he calls home right now is no longer the same as it once was, and he is also aware that the [Status Window] that he possesses, or almost certainly all of the 'Awakened' people that have it, mostly functions the same way as you would've encountered in popular MMORPG games.

"And if the world's laws and settings were identical to those of role-playing games, wouldn't it make sense that I gain a lot of experience points based on the number of enemies I eliminated?"

While he was pondering about this, another monster jumped atop his head and attempted to tear him down, yet failed horribly.

Thanks to his traits [ •Cold-blooded• ] and [ •Rational• ], he is able to adapt to any situation, and his fear of mysterious creatures is gone.

It also helps him make very good and sensible decisions based on his current position, as well as slay monsters in a clean yet crude fashion using the bolo knife.

A thought immediately came to him. "If the world resembles the world of role-playing games, that means there must be a tutorial, right...?"

White is unsure about that notion that just dawned on him, but he feels that it's possible.

" Hmm...Let's see..." White mumbles, while wearing the clothing that he stole from someone's home. "I think I kinda understand how this thing works now. "

He was going to jot down in his notebook his latest theories and deductions on how this system operates according to what he had seen today; however, he forgot he carried only Bolo with him.

He just ingrained in his mind the ways that the system worked based on the information he gathered.

- Exp or Experience points: cannot be gained by killing the wandering or 'banished type' mysterious creatures. He doesn't know why but he speculates that there's still more on these disasters.

- Owned Skills and their proficiency: will slowly progress by using them repeatedly.

- Skills cannot easily be obtained.

White assumed that if he did or reproduced the moves he saw in games, anime, or novels, he would acquire such skills, but reality isn't going to make things simple for him.

"I guess I was simply lucky for acquiring the skill, Stab." White groaned hard with this realization.

He glanced at the chaotic surroundings and muttered, "Skills are important, but they quickly deplete my so-called ÆP after spamming them." He then rested his disoriented head using his left hand..

In the street and direction where they lived, the young man walked slowly. The everlasting vibrant vibe that their street always gives, now nowhere to be seen.

Even the feeling of happiness vanished like a bubble dream.

This route used to be lively and full of people, with adults cheerfully greeting one another, children participating in chases among themselves, playing tumbang preso, or playing Tek cards while arguing over who was cheating just to win, while others laughed just for the sake of it.

These joyful times are no longer with us.

Those happy scenarios and atmosphere that should have been occurring at this time of the day especially this New Year are now replaced by collapsing houses, nauseating smell of gasses, raging fire that burnt down those innocent flowers, grass, trees, while wrecked and exploded vehicles can be seen scattered across the street.

Although White already predicted this and steeled himself, he still feels bleak and depressed as a result of what happened in their hometown.

White eliminates the remaining creatures in the vicinity that are charging at him to soothe his frantic heart as he heads to their home.

Home.

The home where their charming family dwells and unforgettable memories are made.

The home where he is always embraced by the warmth of his family's love and care after a long day at school.

The home where his family's happiness lifts him out of the worries he bears and endures.

This very home was in shambles when he found it.

He was already distressed and saddened over what had transpired in their neighborhood, but this scenario worsened his emotions even further.

He cautiously checked around their home to see if there was any trace of his parents.

The young man suddenly grabbed his chest as he felt agitated for no apparent reason.

His legs felt heavy, refusing to move forward from where he stands.

' Please... pleasee... ' White prayed internally, wishing for the worst not to occur.

When White arrived at their yard, he abruptly ceased his walk.

Tears then flowed down his cheeks, his knees lost all strength and his whole body shook heavily at what he had seen.

It was terrifying and the most heartbreaking thing he could have seen and felt in his entire life.

How do people describe the feeling of grief?

They may find that they feel angry or frustrated and want to find something or someone to blame for their loss so that they can try to make sense of it.

An overwhelming feeling.

That's what White Alyan was feeling right now.

An inexplicable sadness and grief because of the deaths of his parents.

Anger and contempt against himself for not finding and saving them sooner—this is what arises in the depths of his feelings.

Where should he release or direct all the rage and fury he feels?

Towards himself? Or to the beasts that slaughtered his parents?

Bottomless guilt formed towards himself for being late and weak.

An extreme hostility then formed and aimed towards the unknown creatures.

All of these feelings that White never imagined he would feel in his entire life suddenly developed because of all these chaotic and incomprehensible situations he is experiencing as of this moment.

" I'LL RETURN THIS FAVOR YOU'VE GIVEN TO ME! I SWEAR!!!!!!! " White exclaimed, enraged and mourning, clutching both of his parents' lifeless corpses in his hands.

From an unknown distance beyond the universe, numerous 'Entities' were observing an irregular occurrence taking place throughout the Main Dimension. Furthermore, they heard a 'Shout' that vibrated the entire cosmos.

While not strong enough, this provides sufficient evidence for them to do investigations.

White opened the door slowly as his sister welcomed him.

ZIa was about to greet White when she noticed the dead bodies in front of the door. He was a bit taken aback since she had never witnessed something such as this before.

"What the hell is that for, Kuya? Please stop with your sick jo-" before Zia could finish her sentence, her body freezes as soon as she recognizes the color of the garments on the corpses that her older brother had brought over.

Her eyes started to swell, and the dread and uncertainty she's feeling about raising the question in her mind came clear as her gaze met with his.

White recognized this, and after meeting gazes, he simply nodded.

No words need to be said, as though he knew the question she wanted to ask.

Zia was unable to contain her cries and hurried to the bed, where she continued to cry it all out.

The day is still young yet it felt too long for the siblings.

After gently dumping the food he had brought from his mini-expedition, White buried their parents' corpses beside their hiding place, prayed for their spirits to be at rest, and accompanied his sister inside the cabin to soothe her from the agony and dread that she was going through.

The afternoon came and the siblings were eating, slowly, as if the time itself slowed down with them.

Their appetite was dwindling as time went by.

Zia slowly opened her mouth and said, "W-what do we do now?" Her voice sounded crusted while trying to hide her sorrow " .. Ma...ma and Papa are.... "

"Don't worry, you still have me." White pats her head softly after placing the spoon and fork on the plate. "I will do all I can to fulfill their promises to us alright? "He continued, then protruding a gentle smile at his sister.

White wanted to break this heavy and depressing atmosphere so he quickly came up with an idea that would shift Zia's state of mind.

The siblings finished their food and Zia Alyan was about to stand up when White Alyan said abruptly "Hey!"

She stopped her movements and stared at her brother, as if asking what it is that he would like to say.

"I have something I would like to confess."

"What is it?" Zia replied in a monotonous manner. Although her demeanor seems calm, her eyes still scream in pain and heartbreak.

" Would you believe me if I said that I have superpowers? " White muttered in a manner like it was some kind of important announcement.

Zia got confused, thinking 'Is he alright?' While noticing her brother's face getting closer towards her.

Zia tilted her head, confused and answered."Superpowers? It's like the games, cartoons, or anime you watch every day?"

White excitedly answered "Yep, that's exactly it." as he fixed his posture.

Zia snorted and rolled her eyes after hearing her Brother's remark.

'Did he think that this is some kind of fantasy world or something?' She's now starting to feel genuinely concerned about her brother's current state of mind.

"Boang, do you think that I'll believe that crap?"

"Well, remember that monsters do exist right now, right?" White then added this as he snapped his finger. "Do you think people with superpowers will not emerge from this kind of crisis?"

White's logic made some sense, and it made Zia think about this kind of possibility. 'Well, what he said makes some sense.'

Her curiosity got ahead of her and immediately asked "So, what kind of 'Superpowers' do you have?" although it was not entirely possible, she was intrigued about what type of power her brother gets, if he really does have any.

Zia also added "Don't tell me that you have something like 'Legendary' or 'Hero' type of powers and have this mission of 'saving the world' or something?"

"How did you know?" White was shocked at her remarks as he didn't expect for his sister to actually guess his Superpower or Class.

Even if it's her own brother, Zia can't really tell if White is telling the truth about him having a superpower and actually surprised at her guess or if he's just trying to console her in his own cringey way.

Anyhow, Zia is feeling better now after seeing that her brother is trying his best to uplift her.

To respond towards his shenanigans, Zia then plays along and says "Oh really now~" Zia slowly puts her head above her hand and adds "Let's look at the 'skills' of the 'Legendary SLASH Hero' brother that I'm proud of. Hnnnnn~ "

White is relieved that she appears to be better, considering that she has begun to behave like a kid around him.

White then slowly moved his hand in the air, seemingly pressing something.

Zia looked at her brother with a stupefied expression. 'Why is he touching the air now?'

"Hmm lets see.." White then pointed his right hand towards his left palm, "Do you see the game-like panel floating in my hand? " he said while slowly waving his left hand in front of Zia.

"Game-like panel? I see nothing but your stupid palm."

'She can't see it?' White was taken aback by her response but shortly understood why.

"I see." White said as he nodded. "I can't explain it using words alone, but I have something to say and an idea for this one. "

"What is it?" Seeing that her brother's tone was getting serious, Zia instantly readied herself.

"Before I proceed with what I'm about to say, Do you trust me?" with a resolute tone, White looked at her firmly.

"What's with that look?" as confused as she was, Zia didn't ask what's he's deal now and just said "And of course I trust you. "

"Really?"

Zia, irritated, broke out screaming and exclaimed "I've given you my answer. YES, I do trust you!" Zia then hits the poor small miniature table directly in front of them with both hands, exclaiming "You want me to gouge your eyeballs out so that my answer sinks in your 'genius brain'!?"

"Glad to hear."

White chuckled at his sister's expression and began to tell in detail how he got the 'Powers' based on his conclusion from his experiences in the events.

While White describes, Zia had this expression of seriousness, wonder, astonishment, and a childlike smile spanning ear to ear.

Zia asks "When do we start?" with her eyes gleaming with enthusiasm.

White then eagerly answers "Right now!"
