Chapter 1: Courage (Revised)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.

Ugh today’s the day huh
He woke up feeling lethargic as always as he turned on his computer. It was a computer his family had bought back when people still used dial-up internet but for the past two years sitting in his room browsing Reddit on his computer had been his daily entertainment.
He opened up a window for a chat room but just like in real life he found it hard to enter or even hold a conversation
Maybe I should just start with hi guys or better yet
In the end he decided to not enter the chat and simply started dressing himself for today. Usually he’d stay in his pajamas but today he was going out after two years of being a NEET after high school
There was nothing wrong with him other than his lack of people skills but if one word could be used to describe him it would be lazy
Back when he still lived in the inner city he had been the smartest in his elementary class and the school district had decided that for middle school he’s join classes for other gifted children but he found that his new classmates were on a whole different level. He’d always been able to avoid doing homework and get passing grades.
He continued to hang out with his friends from the inner city so he could still feel superior. Eventually his mother who had single handedly raised him and his siblings married his now step-father and they moved about an hour away from the city where houses were cheaper.
He spent his days playing First person shooters and graduated high school with average grades due to his lack of motivation. Afterwards he was too lazy to do anything and spent two years of his life browsing the internet as he lacked money to pay for new games or online gaming subscriptions.
Putting on his slim fit jeans a shirt and his favorite hoodie he opened the door to his room and walked towards the kitchen.
Well time to use my awesome cooking skills for breakfast
He grabbed a bowl, a spoon, milk and a box of generic brand cereal.
“My compliments to the chef.” He said as he got a spoonful of cereal
Being a bit taller than average with a small gut due to his diet of microwavable food and other junk. He wasn’t slim but he wasn’t wide but he had broad shoulders. His body type was that of a mesomorph.
Finishing his cereal while watching TV he got up to leave the plate in the sink. He decided to wash the plate otherwise his mother would nag at him.
As he finished scrubbing the plate clean his mother opened the front door.
“Finally woke up?"Said his mother
He looked at the clock it was twelve in the afternoon
“Yes mom,” he responded
“Then are you ready to go to the bank?” she asked
“Yeah,”
“Then let’s go before you’re little brother gets out of school,”
He went back to his room to grab his wallet filled with over $300 he had earned by selling a few of his things. He then went outside to his mom who was waiting in the minivan. He opened the door to the passenger side and got in.
He was silent on the way to the bank as he was organizing his to-do list in his mind
Ok first open a bank account
Then find a job
Apply for community college
Then we’ll see from there
They arrived at the local bank and his mother parked the car. She shut the engine down and grabbed her bag
“Um mom can I go in alone?”
It’s kinda embarrassing
His mother sighed”Do what you want son"
“Thanks,” he said as he opened the car door and got out
“Just remember if someone tries to take your money your life is more important than money!” his mother said aloud
“yeah,yeah.”
He walked into the bank behind another man who was wearing bulky coat.
As he walked in he noticed the obese security guard who was panting heavily
Wow I’d probably make a better guard than him
As he smiled at his own joke the man who had been in front of him pulled out a gun from his coat
“All you niggas get down on da floor!”

Oh shit my money not my hard earned money
The robber fired two continuous shots into the air
“I ain’t kiddin around!”
The robber was shorter than himself surely he could wrestle the gun away from him. Perhaps the bank might even give a reward to such a hero who saved the day. The publicity would surely land him a job.
These thoughts ran through his head as he gathered whatever courage he had and while the robber looked away he moved and grabbed him in a choke hold.
As they struggled the security guard fumbled for his gun and brought it up frantically firing several shots.
Several entered the armed robber while one stray bullet entered his head
I hope my family sues the shit out of them was his last thought as he lied on the floor being embraced by death

Prologue:Courage
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In a bank stood a young man anxiously waiting in line to open his first ever bank account. Taller than average: neither skinny nor fat. What set him apart from others was his extreme shyness and laziness.
In school he was the kid that did could not hold a conversation. His responses were always short and to the point. “How was your day?” someone would ask and he would answer “good.” He could not get a job because he was too shy and lazy to ask for any job openings. In school if he encountered a problem he could not solve he would not ask for any help.
He hated asking for help; it made him feel inferior.
As a child he took a test and was told that he was gifted thus in middle school he was put in a program with other gifted children. In elementary he had always felt superior to the other kids. He never studied yet his tests scores were always high. He put zero effort in to his studies. Yet when he entered the program for gifted children he felt so stupid. All the kids were excellent in both athletics and academics. So he stayed quiet in school and in his mind his excuses were that he could be just as good if he tried hard enough yet he never did.
Eventually his parents bought a house far away from the city so they moved. He was put in a regular school and so he spent his high school days playing video games rather than studying. His best grade on a report card would be a B while his lowest a D. So then graduation came and went.
After wards he spent a year as a NEET but he was bored so he mustered his courage and went to the bank to start his adult life.
“Maybe I should be a security guard?” Thought the young man as he looked at the banks obese security guard who was breathing heavily
“why are security guards either fat or old men I wonder?” The young man was nervous. If not for the hoodie he was currently wearing one would be able to see his sweat under his armpits.
“Next in line please” Shouted the bank teller. BANG! BANG! Two shots were fired by a man wearing a ski mask. “All you motherf**kers get down on the ground!!!”
The young man did not want to lose the $300 in his pocket. So for the first in his life he intended to be a hero.
He grabbed ski mask guy in a choke hold. While they both struggled the security guard frantically pulled out his handgun and in the heat of the moment unleashed a volley of bullets at the two struggling people. Seven shots went into the armed assailant hitting his torso. The 8th shot entered our young hero’s forehead.
I hope my family sues the shit out of this bank was our heroes last thought as death embraced him.
