Short Side Story - The Changes Rene Faces

A certain day, way before Rene's abduction, things was going nicely. Rene had spent her life twelve years within her forest in the Lizendra continent, of which Rene herself did not know of. However, it was not quite the normal day for Rene's body.

"Nnnn.... my tummy hurts..." pressing both of her arms onto her stomach, she groaned in pain.

Trevtas, who was passing by her private chamber which was built out of vines enclosing the space within, saw her unusual act. A little bit worried, he entered her chamber.

"Is everything all right, your highness?" he said while looking at Rene.

"There's nothing, leave me alone!" moving her hands, the land in front of her rose and formed a wall between her and Trevtas.

"I-I'm truly sorry for my act, your highness!" after recovering his momentum, he knelt while speaking in a regretful tone.

Instantaneously, the walls in front of Trevtas perished as they returned to the ground as it revealed Rene who was sitting on her 'throne' made out of branches and leaves.

Reaching out her hand to Trevtas, she said, "No, I should apologize instead. But for now, please, leave me alone."

Trevtas took her hand and stood up, then replied, "Very well, I shall leave you alone for now, but please do remember to call for us if you need anything, your highness."

Exiting the chamber, Trevtas glanced back at Rene and a thought came to him.

"Something's different about her today. Wonder what happened?"

On the other hand, Rene herself within the now closed chamber thanks to the newly formed vines at the entrance, only sat as she twiddled with her fingers. Irritated, she wonder what was happening to her as she felt angry various times for no reason today.

Having no reason to comply with for her sudden change in behavior, she stood up. While turning back, a certain red color could be seen on the leaves covering her chair. It was then; she knew the exact reason of why she acted differently today.

"No.... it can't be..... I'm having my first period?!"

For a while, Rene passed out after realizing it, despite of possessing her calm demeanor which was useless against it. It didn't take long until she came back to her senses and began thinking seriously.

"So..... since I'm a girl, I could experience period now? Urgh, I should have realized this sooner..."

Naturally, since Rene had an intelligent mind, she knew about these things but because she was formerly a boy, she had never thought of putting some effort into learning it. Recalling everything there was regarding periods, she suddenly blushed for a certain reason.

"W-w-wait... does this mean.... I can be pregnant? NOOOO, I DON'T WANT THAT!"

Bursting out a protective aura, the surrounding area shook as Rene's magical force slammed upon them. The elves that were nearby fell on their knees as the aura ran through them, causing a momentary paralyzing effect.

Soon enough, the effect weakened as Rene gradually calmed down. Definitely, it was a shocking truth for her as never once had the thought of being able to be pregnant crossed her pure mind. In any case, it was a hard fact for her to swallow, not because she was afraid to accept it, but because she was afraid of the thought itself as it was unknown to her.

But then, she had to put all those thing aside and focus on the present. In other word, Rene needed to figure out how to prevent her blood from leaking out randomly, causing stains everywhere. For some time, she had trouble as she couldn't find the solution of what to be done.

In the end, she decided to call Shivane, the elves' army commander who was also a female. Rene had considered to call Trevtas but in the end did not since it would had been awkward to explain her situation to him since he was a male.

"Guys, can you call for Shivane?" Rene said to the plants in her chamber.

"Which one is that, princess?" one of them answered.

"Unn... you know, the one with a bulky armor and some crest on it?"

"That one is it? Very well."

A few minutes later, a soft knock could be heard coming from the outside of the chamber's entrance. Simultaneously, Rene also felt the knock as she was directly linked with the nature itself. Swiftly, she commanded the vines to retract, thus opening the entrance. After Shivane entered Rene's chamber, the vine closed up the entrance once more.

Kneeling down in front of Rene, she said, "I was informed that you needed me for something, your highness."

"Stand up, Shivane, how many times do I need to tell every of you on this? Unnn.... in any case... I need your help with something..." fidgeting a little, she replied.

"I will do my utmost best to help you, your highness. So, what may this 'help' you require, be?" she stated as she stood up.

"If that's so... then..... can you tell me.... how you handle this kind of stuff?"

Rene stood up as she said it, and then pointed to a certain spot on her chair. Confused, Shivane stepped closer to take a look.

"PFT."

"Huh, did she just snicker?" Rene thought.

Looking closely, Shivane was trying to hold back her laughter. A little irritated, Rene pouted.

"Meanie! You laughed!" Rene began instructing the branches to drag her away from the chamber.

"Pfft.. hahahaha.. no..no, your highness, I'm sorry... it's just, I did not expect for even you to experience this. I'm truly sorry for my rudeness," Shivane resisted the branches mildly.

"Hmph!" she turned to look away from Shivane.

"Hehe.. I'll tell you, how to handle this, your highness."

Suddenly, the branches that tried to drag her away stopped and then returned to their former state. Shivane who was on the ground, stood up again as she patted her back to get rid of the dirt that got stuck on her. Looking back at Rene, she was still facing the opposite direction of Shivane, pouting.

"I believe, this will be what you need, your highness," Shivane took Rene's hand and handed over something that looked like a leaf but made from cotton instead.

"This is...?" curious, she looked back at her and asked.

"I'm not too sure what it's called in the human world, but within the Elven countries, we call it 'Pania'. I suggest your Highness learn how to make it as its main components are cottons, which your Highness could produce in seconds."

"This.... 'Pania'... will help me with this?" Rene pointed at the red stain on the leaves.

"Yes your Highness. And if you may excuse me, I need to leave in order to join the next patrolling team, may I, your Highness?" Shivane replied and then asked.

"Thank you Shivane, and yeah, sure," Rene replied while smiling to her.

Exiting the chamber, Rene was once again by herself as Shivane headed out to join the patrolling team. She wanted some time in private, so she had decided to close the entrance to her chamber once more, signaling that she did not wish to be bothered.

After Shivane left, Rene couldn't help it but to stare at the 'Pania' that she gave to her in curiosity. She pressed it, rubbed it, touched it and everything she could before actually thinking on how she was going to use it. Nonetheless, it took her less than a few minutes to actually figure out how she was presumed to wear it in the correct way.

"It feels... a little... too tight?"

The 'Pania' was magically enchanted so that it would tighten up once it was placed on the spot. Even so, it was still regarded as uncomfortable to Rene as it was not made specifically for her.

"Next time, I'm going to make one, just for myself!" Rene thought.

On that day, yet another eccentric goal had been placed in her mind despite of holding the title the Princess of The Nature. Unbeknownst to her, the life as she know it, would soon cease to exist.

A short side story, I thought I'd make to present to all of you as a little change of pace! In spite of that, I am also sorry that this side story was so short which was because I became even more occupied with things in life.

Hopefully in the chapter and so on in the future, I can make even longer chapters for the readers to enjoy. Until then, please bear with me :).
