Chapter 5 - Rene's Capabilities

Far away from the kingdom of Tarvan, lies the continent of Lizendra. It was a place that was widely known by every humans as a habitat to various species of animals and even elven kingdoms. What they truly did not know however, was that it was also the area where Rene, the princess of nature had lived in.

Humans had the knowledge that the Yggdrasil was also within Lisen, although its true location is undiscovered until now. In order to respect the holy tree, they had never built even a single kingdom on the Lizendra continent. Thanks to that, Lizendra was a continent that was purely filled with forests, mountains, lakes and such.

However, adventurers that went out to venture into the forest within Lisen had begun reporting of unusual occurence within the continent for the past few decades, or one to be exact. Most of them said the forest actually looked..... lively as if someone had been playing with them for quite sometime.

And there was also more. Six years ago, a lumberjack had managed to escape from the forest, almost dead. Some people had attempted to ask him on what had happened, but he was so traumatized that he pretty much forgot everything about the elves except for the reason why such thing happened in the first place.

Hastily, he started the rumor that humans must absolutely avoid crossing over a certain part of the forest, and to not inflict any kind of damage upon the living things within Lizendra. It didn't took long for the rumor to spread as fast as wildfire with the man himself being the living proof of his rumor.

Ever since the incident with the lumberjack, elves could be often seen patrolling a certain part of Lizendra, circling around it as if protecting something precious within. Regardless of the danger, some adventurers had actually attempted to slip past by but was halted in the process when the animals and plants began forming a blockade to prevent them from advancing any further.

Confused, the adventurers decided to leave them alone and abandon the trespassing idea after recalling the absolute rule of not harming any living things within the continent.

Things had been the way they were for quite a while, until now.

For the past two days, messengers had brought information from the adventurers, this time stating a problem that no one had expected to occur. It was mentioned that the usually passive elves suddenly became aggressive and started to prevent humans from entering the Lizendra continent itself.

They reported that no red lines were seen on their bodies, so the thought of them being corrupted was not a possibility. In addition, even animals joined forces with the elves to prevent the adventurers from setting their foot onto Lizendra's ground. To actually achieve this, they secured the ports that connected Lizendra to the outer world and forced them to return back to their home.

Tarvan had sent a few envoys to talk with the elves' King, but was turned down the moment they reached Lizendra. The same situation occured to other countries when they also tried to do the same thing. The only reply that the humans got was,

"You humans stole something precious to us! Find the culprit and bring him to us! Then, find the treasure and bring it back to us! In 5 days should you fail to achieve this, I shall present myself on your land as we seek for our treasure. Naturally, anyone who stands in our way shall be crushed to death by force!"

In the message, he did not mention the details of the treasure so the human side had trouble trying to locate it. Some suggested that it may had something to do with nature so now their search were based on purely that alone. However, Rene did not had the knowledge regarding the search as it was performed in secret to ensure that they do not alert the thief culprit.

Momentarily, Trevtas could be seen standing just beside the spot where Yggdrasil used to grow on. Rene would often sleep on the very exact spot by creating a hammock out of vines and rest herself on it.

"It has been two days since the disappearance of the princess...." he thought.

Ever since she was gone, the surrounding area of the forest had been gloomy with the absence of their cheerful princess. If she had left through normal circumstances, it would not had turned out to be like this, as opposed to how she was abducted instead.

After standing up for quite some time, Trevtas decided to sit down on the ground while still thinking of ways to save the princess from the greedy humans. Then, an elf came in front of him and knelt. Looking closely, she wore an armor that looked like slightly different from the rest of the monitor, symbolizing that her rank was quite higher than the rest of the elves.

"May I ask something, your majesty?" she asked.

"You may continue." Trevtas replied.

"Your majesty, why don't we immediately march into the humans' territory right now to locate the princess? Would it not be much faster that way?" she rises her head to look at Trevtas as she spoke.

"It's not that simple, Shivane. If we were to do that now, it will cause the humans to be surprised of our sudden movements which can cause war to erupt," he answered.

"It would be best to first lie in wait while notifying our arrival to the humans before we emerge in big number where the reason to 'seek for our treasure' will justify our actions," Trevtas continued.

"I see, very well. I shall take my leave and have the elves prepare themselves for the upcoming journey, your majesty."

Expressing her plans, Shivane then stood up and walked away from Trevtas. On the other hand, he continued to think of various things as Shivane disappeared from the view. A few of them was regarding the matter where the plants had not been responding to any of his question about the princess's location.

After Rene's disappearance, the plants within Lizendra had stopped to respond nor move from for unknown reason. As such, Trevtas was unable to find out about her exact location through the plants. The pigeons which had brought the message that Rene was abducted, did not know of the exact location of the kingdom she was in, nor do they remember the name.

The only thing they could recall were the fact that she was located in one of the humans' continent which was Harleus. Even though not much, that information was helpful enough to allow the elves to narrow down the list of countries they would had to go through in order to search for Rene, which included Tarvan.

Despite that small information, the true location of the princess was still shrouded in mystery for Trevtas as there were many countries they had to check to find her.

Since the situation this time was different, Trevtas could not afford to act recklessly as it would involve the humans' countries. He had also thought of attacking the humans in order to search for Rene, but decided to dispose that plan as Rene herself wouldn't allow it and the casualties on the elves' side would be unnecessarily big to cope up with.

Not to mention, the reason why it happened in the first place was because Trevtas was absence when she were abducted. He was actually attending a meeting regarding how they were supposed to continue on protecting the princess in a better way, although now it was postponed due to the current incident.

"I hope you're in safe hands, your highness....," Trevtas released a sigh as he looked up on the sky.

...

In the room which was Rene's office and also her living quarter that she had begun to lived in, she was sitting on the chair while reading some books related to this world. She knew that she lacked the knowledge of the outside world as she had spent years being inside her forest boundary, where the continent's name was Lizendra.

"Humm..humm humm..... let see.... list of the world's seven continents... Harleus, Leva, Valvre, Urvan, Sratotus, Kasha and...... Lizendra! Yeah I remember them all now!" she exclaimed while jumping in joy.

She didn't know, that the last continent she had spoke of was actually her home. Soon enough, she sat back on her chair and placed the book titled 'Seven Continents of The World' aside. While rummaging through the piles of book on her big desk, suddenly a scroll with the title 'List Of Kingdoms in The World' caught her eyes.

Grabbing hold of it, she opened it up and said, "Yeah! It's the list of kingdo-.... WHOOAAAA TOO MANY! MY EYES! MY EYES!"

Within the scroll was list of every kingdoms that had been officially registered as one including small kingdoms. As such, the sheer number of them being cramped up inside a small piece of paper was considerably nauseating to read, especially when each of the letters were as small as ants. In the end, it didn't take long for Rene to decide on skipping the scroll.

The next day after her arrival in the castle, some people wanted to visit her out of curiosity but was turned down. Rene said that she wanted to spend the whole day in her room reading the books. Truly, she did end up staying in her room without even getting out to eat, and a day passed by since then, totalling up to two days of her stay in the castle.

Yawning, she thought, "I'm hungry.... guess I'll go out and absorb some sunlight!"

Closing every book that was on the desk, she slowly carried each of them back to the shelves, assisted by the plants for heavier books and elevating her for the shelves that she couldn't reach thanks to her height. It also didn't take long until her room was filled with plants in vases again due to her obsession, as usual.

"Thanks for the help guys!" she whispered to the plants.

"Not at all, it's an honor to serve our princess with her daily activities," the plants replied.

As she commanded the plants to return to their normal form, Rene watered them first before actually heading out of the room. Then, right before placing the mug down on the sink, she pointed her little finger towards the mug. Slowly, roots came out from her finger and extended into the mug, absorbing the remaining water left within it.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

She could had just drank it through normal means, but if she absorbed water through roots, she would be able to sustain herself a little bit longer as the leftover waters can be kept inside her. In this case, if Rene had drank it using her mouth, she would dispose of the remaining water soon enough, as such, using the roots was a better method for her.

As Rene was placing down the mug, the front door could suddenly be heard opened.

"Rene! Are you in here?" Thione barged in while shouting.

A little startled, she almost dropped the mug on the floor but managed to catch it, then she replied, "Thione, you scared me! Please, knock first before entering next time!"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I was in a rush so I forgot my manners."

"It's fine, but anyway, what did you need me for?" in a second, she retracted her roots as she realized it was still visible.

Stepping outside the bathroom, Rene saw Thione leaning against the door while looking around in the renovated room, where plants now dominated most of the entire space within her office which had also looked like library with stacks of books placed everywhere.

He was wearing different as to what he had worn yesterday. Now, instead of the old, brown robe that he used yesterday to hide himself in the surrounding, he was wearing a black coat with a white shirt underneath it. His pants was also black, while his shoes was brown. The same glasses that he wore yesterday and the earrings were there as well which had fitted his image perfectly with his blue hair.

Turning back his attention to Rene, Thione said, "Anyway, I need you to assist the healers in 1st Red Ward. Follow me."

As he exited the room, he looked back and gestured Rene to follow him. Rene herself felt a little bit irritated, as she did not had time to absorb at least some sunlight. The sun exposure within the castle was considerably low despite the presence of windows, so it wasn't enough to satisfy her hunger. Regardless, she decided to put her hunger aside for a while to help the healers.

After walking for a while, they finally reached a door that had the label '1st Red Ward' which was near the entrance to the Medical Sector. In total, there was actually 30 Wards lined up across the hall of that sector, each door facing against each other with 15 wards on the left and 15 wards on the right.

Each 10 Wards had different levels of treatments and even the skills of the healers that handled them. The first 10 Wards' doors were colored in green, symbolizing themselves as 'Green Ward'. Green Ward tasks were simple, which was to heal lightly injured peoples or even the one that caught a sickness and ensure their complete recovery. Often, grade D healers handled this ward.

Next was the 'Yellow Ward'. Their jobs were slightly more complicated than the 'Green Ward' as the healers within this section had to handle peoples that was heavily injured, unconscious, inflicted with unknown conditions and many more.

Once their health were confirmed to gradually become better, they would soon enough be sent to the 'Green Ward' to make sure they were completely healed. Within this ward, only grade B healers are allowed to be assigned here.

And the very last one, the 'Red Ward'. Within this ward, only experienced and skilled healers were allowed to be working inside it. Peoples that were sent to this ward were ones that had a life threatening injuries or conditions, that could prove to be fatal if they were to be left alone for some time.

Most of the time, it could include one who had a sword pierced through their chest, or losing all four limbs. Every healer of grade A were held responsible to take care of the patients within the 'Red Ward', and exceptional grade B healers would also be called, should the situation required them.

Naturally, Rene had already known about the 30 Wards as she went through numerous books and documents during the time she spent being inside her room the whole day yesterday. Attempting to test out her abilities, Thione instantly brought her to the highest rank of the Wards.

As they opened up the door and went inside, nothing but only vast space of darkness could be seen reaching every corner of the eyes. A little afraid of the unknown situation, Rene subconsciously came close to Thione and hid behind him. Thione couldn't do anything but chuckle as he saw the childish act from Rene.

Looking back forward, he started speaking, "Thione Cronus, King's Advisor."

Suddenly, the darkness that roamed the space in front of Rene and Thione gradually vanished as it revealed the gruesome scene that had been hidden from the view. Many soldiers, in various life-threatening conditions were laid down on beds, extending until the end of the room which could fit at the least 20 peoples if lined up horizontally against the entrance.

Some of them had lost their limbs, while others had considerably big holes within their body. Unaccustomed to the scene, Rene flinched back in fear as the suffering of the soldiers was laid out in front of her. Slowly, her eyes began turning into red once more.

"This...is this.... the work of the humans yet again?" the ground suddenly trembled mildly as she spoke.

Realizing the changes of the color within Rene's eyes, Thione hastily replied, "Rene, no! This is due to the recent battles against a humongous monster that attacked our defensive walls."

Then, one of the healers who wore a white robe came while looking at Rene in curiosity. Turning back his attention Thione, he pointed his finger toward Rene.

"Thione, who is this kid? You know we can't afford to play around with the situation as is right now," a little annoyed, he complained.

"Actually, she is a healer just like all of you, but looking at her reactions, I guess she is not ready for the 'Red Ward'. Now then, Rene, let's go back," turning his back to the other healer, he started walking to the entrance when suddenly, a soft tug could be felt from behind.

"No, these peoples, their sufferings, I must end it," as she claimed that, she sprinted toward the center of the room.

"Hey kid! What are you doi-," before he finished his sentence, Rene glared at him intensely, causing him to slightly tremble in fear and unable to speak.

The other healers, unable to cope up with the sudden change in the situation could simply do nothing but watch as Rene closed her palms and began focusing her energy to gather within her hands.

"Please listen to my plea, and accelerate the recovery of these unfortunate humans. Release them of their sufferings and let them return to the former state of their bodies and crush the memories of the experienced pain from their memories...." she muttered as she imbued the mana within her palms with her own will.

Opening up her palms, a small mana orb could be seen floating in front of her while emitting a gentle blue light. Instantly, the orb broke into 20 parts and began flying toward every soldiers that was within the room. As they stopped on top them, the blue orbs proceeded to enter their bodies, and then, sudden shocking changes could be seen surfacing in seconds.

The one who had lost their limbs, suddenly reappeared in an instant as if manifested by magic. No signs of the previous injury could be seen anywhere, including the soldiers who had holes in their body which covered up in a mere seconds as soon as the blue mana touched them.

"My....my arm! It's back!" one of the soldier stated ecstatically.

"Little girl.... I'm grateful...." said another soldier.

"Thank you, really!"

"How can I ever repay your kindness....?" every of them, noticing that they were suddenly completely healed, began crowding Rene and expressing their utmost gratitude to her.

Before, they were lying down half dead, almost giving up any effort of living with the injuries. But now, every single of them was making noises as if nothing had happened and the rest performing activities that was related to their lost limbs.

The grade A healers would usually take a few weeks in order to heal up a single patient within the 'Red Ward', but Rene herself accomplished it in mere seconds and to every single of them to boot. As such, witnessing the miracle that happened in front of them had their jaws dropped on the ground, including Thione.

Additionally, the capability of restoring lost limbs were known to be very hard to achieve to the grade A healers and could even cause the death of the patient if poorly executed. As far as the world had progressed, only grade S healers were known to be able to perfectly perform it without problems while grade A healers wouldn't be able to exterminate the lingering phantom pain effect.

And yet here they are, witnessing the child in front of them utilizing it as simple as breathing. Gradually, Rene's eyes noticeably became green again as she had accomplished her job and was satisfied with the result.

"J-just who is that girl?" one of the healer pointed at Rene as he spoke while looking at Thione.

Stepping into the center of the room and pushing away the crowds, Thione said, "The little girl that is standing in front of you right now, is a grade S healer."

"G-grade S healer?!" every healers within the room suddenly exclaimed in shock.

As the dramatic scene unfolded in front of Rene, she had already begun wandering into her own world, ignoring the events around her. During this time, her only thought was,

"Hungry....."
