Chapter 6 - Dragon's Attack

"Grade S healer?!" everyone within the room exclaimed in surprise.

It was then that the healer who questioned Rene's presence in the Ward stepped forward and bowed to her. Followed by that, the rest of the healers within the room also came to Rene and did the same thing. Rene, who didn't know how to respond to the situation looked at Thione behind her back and he simply smiled.

"I apologize for my previous disrespect! I did not know that you were such of a skilled healer!" said the healer with the white robe.

"We pay our respect to the great healer!" the rest of the healers added.

"N-no, stop that, it's fine! Anyway, my name is Rene and I have recently been employed to work here, so I'll be under your care," she replied while bowing down to the healer in white robe.

"Also, I'm slightly in a hurry here, so can I leave already?" continuing, she asked while looking at Thione.

"Well, at first, I just wanted to let you work here for a couple of hours to fill daily quotas, but instead of that, you went on and healed every patient there was in this ward, so.... yeah you may."

"Yes, thank you!"

Slowly, she began walking toward the door while leaving Thione and the rest of the healers, still in confusion from what she did nonchalantly. Rene herself, sought for a courtyard within the castle to absorb sunlight, and soon enough discovered it, located not far from the Medical sector.

Since it was a castle's courtyard, the area was as big as it could be to Rene. It didn't take long until a bench grabbed her eyes and attention, just within the courtyard's center. Instantaneously, she ran to the bench and sat on it.

"Ahh.. finally," Rene muttered.

Her flower expanded, starting to absorb the ray of sun that landed on its buds. Bit by bit, Rene's hunger started to dissipate as time passed by. Turning her attention to the surrounding area, no sign of life but a few cats caught her gaze, just either rolling around on the ground or relaxing on the tree branches.

While relaxing, she immediately recalled something.

"Thione... did not mention that the monster who had attacked was corrupted, so... why?" she thought.

"Maybe... I should just talk to the monster and see the reason why..." unconsciously, Rene muttered her thoughts.

After confirming her decision, Rene stood up and walked away from the courtyard as she was full. Rene didn't know however, Thione was actually nearby and had listened to her muttering. Silently, he stared at Rene as she left the courtyard.

The guards at the gate who had recognized Rene, allowed to her to exit the castle as she passed by. Stepping outside, a vast city landscape was laid out in front of her, filled with people busy with their daily activities, be it selling items or something as simple as having a conversation.

Not wasting even a second, a carriage from within the castle came out and stopped beside Rene. The coachman looked at Rene and waved.

"Hello little lady! Do you need to go somewhere?" he said while smiling.

"Ah... yes, can you take me to the.... what do they call it, Tarvan defensive walls?" Rene replied.

"I see, doing your job as a healer eh? Well, hop on, I'll take you there." the coachman gestured to Rene to enter the carriage.

"Oh, thank you!"

Carefully, she went inside the carriage and it began moving toward the destination. Despite the kind demeanor that the coachman shown to her, Rene can't help but manifesting a small metal dagger within her small hands as a safety measure.

Ever since her eyes started became red for the first time, her natural offensive capability had increased, and so did her control of her own power. Rene became able to produce materials such as metal, gold and many others while also shape shifting them to anything she wanted to make.

She could had relied on the nature itself in order to protect her, but was considered overkill and may expose her identity as the princess of nature. As such, she decided to make use of her new ability and made herself a weapon. Naturally, coming from the princess itself, any type of materials she produced were of the highest grade of them all.

All of a sudden, the coachman began speaking.

"So, how was it, your first day to work as a healer?"

"Unn... it was unexpectedly, easy?" Rene replied while hesitating a little.

"Hahaha, as expected of our only grade S healer!" he said while laughing.

"Wha...? How did you know?"

"How did I know? Simple! I was one of the man you had healed in the red ward."

"Eh? Aren't only soldiers are supposed to be in the wards?"

Based on Rene's knowledge, she only knew that the Medical Sector was designated as a method of ensuring that Tarvan's defensive capability do not plummet. The main reason was because the lack of soldiers, mainly most being heavily injured.

The coachman proceeded to explain that the Medical Sector actually was not only made purely for that reason, but also for the people of Tarvan. The only difference was that they would had to pay for the fees, where the soldiers does not.

"I see, well, it was a moment's whim decision, so no need mentioning it," Rene said while being humble with her ability.

"Hahaha, it is fine, those so-called grade A healers can't even begin to compare with you! In any case, as a way to express my gratitude, feel free to call for me whenever you need a ride. I'll give you one, free of charge so long as I live."

"My name is Raviol and I work in the Transportation Sector within the castle. Nice to meet you, Rene!" he looked at Rene for a quick second before looking back at the front.

"You even knew my name already... despite all of that, if you insist, then I'll take up on the offer. Nice to meet you as well Raviol," Rene answered while smiling.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Steadily, the small dagger within her hands slowly disintegrated into particles of mana as Raviol gained her trust. For a few minutes, they kept on talking with each other about many things while avoiding sensitive topics.

From the conversation, Rene had known that Raviol was in fact injured because he was carrying resources during the defensive fight against the dragon when a fire bolt slammed against his carriage. Thanks to that, he was 'imprisoned' in the red ward for a few weeks and wasn't completely healed, until now.

Soon enough, they reached the destination. Exiting the carriage, coachman gave him a few advices.

"Remember Rene, not to wander off too far in the forests. Despite the absence of corrupted monsters and animals, it still lurks of dangerous and aggressive monsters that may attack any sign of life on sight. Also, take this, it's the way to call for me if you need a ride," he said while handing a small whistle, imbued with special mana.

"I'll do well to remember your warnings, Raviol," Rene replied while taking the whistle.

"Ah and also, take this as a token of thanks," focusing her mana on her palm, Rene manifested a gold coin and tossed it to Raviol.

Catching the gold coin, he replied, "W-wha..? This is too much, I said I'd help for free!"

"Ehehe.... consider it as one time payment then," Rene began sprinting toward the wall while stating that.

"Just who is she really?" Raviol sighed before leaving off with his carriage.

Seconds after Rene sprinted toward the wall, it didn't take long until she reached it and faced against it. The wall was made out of stone, and did not hold a will of its own, so Rene was able to easily control it and could had made a temporary passage to walk through it, but there were several peoples around so it was not possible.

As passing through the wall was not an option, she looked around to search for the entrance and did not spent a long time before locating it. It was several meters away so Rene had noticed it easily.

Walking with leisure to the entrance trying to exit, she was instead stopped by one of the guards.

"Stop right there!" he said while standing in front of Rene.

"Huh? What's the matter?" confused, she plainly stared at the guard.

"Why are you trying to go out alone? Where are you parents? It is dangerous for a child like you to wander outside at this time as we are still engaging the dragon!" the guard relentlessly stated while picking up Rene.

"L-let go of me!"

Frightened, her eyes became red and with that dark roots began shooting from the ground, pushing back every guards there were in the vicinity while ensnaring them in their place. Adding another single thought, mists began forming out of nowhere under Rene's command, allowing her to mask her identity. Gradually, her eyes turned green once more after she calmed down.

With a surprised look, she watched her surrounding while muttering, "No! Why must this happen again?"

Whenever Rene become emotionally unstable, she would initiate an unknown mode where her eyes would also become red. However, during this period Rene would lose a partial of her own personality control, causing her unable to refrain from performing actions of what she would usually not.

Thanks to the mist, no one had known it was all Rene's doings.

With an apologetic tone, she said, "I'm sorry.... here is something as a compensation."

Concentrating her mana into her hands, Rene created a small green orb. Like the scene from the Red Ward before, it split into individual parts and flew into the bodies of the guards. Its main purpose, to annihilate the fatigues that were within the guards after working for a whole day long.

After finishing her business, Rene ran past the chaotic crowd due to the sudden mist and finally exited Tarvan. The outer walls, heavily damaged under various cause was the first thing Rene saw. And in the sky facing against the wall, was a dragon engaging against hundreds of various soldiers such as arch mages, knights and archers, lined up against the vast desert of nothingness, formerly a forest with various kinds of lives.

Being rained upon under various attacks, the dragon screamed sounds of an incomprehensible language to the soldiers. On the other hand, the words that dragon spoke of, was clearly understood by Rene.

"ROOAAAAARRRRR! GIVE MY DAUGHTER BACK YOU LOWLY LIVES!" the dragon screamed angrily.

It was barely holding up with continuos barrage of various attacks from the human side which had lasted for perhaps weeks before Rene's arrival. Furious of the dragon's suffering and the death of her kind, her eyes became red once more.

Under her will, she compressed the air within her surrounding and imbued them with paralyzing mana. For five seconds, she condensed them even further and then, caused them to burst. The result was a paralyzing shockwave that wiped out the entire Tarvan's Army, only to make them fall on their knees, unable to move.

The dragon, noticing the sudden turn of tides, looked at Rene who had caused it.

"YOU! YOU CAN UNDERSTAND ME?" he said while slowly landing in front of Rene, knowing that it was safe.

Touching the dragon, Rene whispered,

"My name is Rene, the princess of nature. I have come to help you. Nevertheless, if you continue to kill my own kind, I won't be hesitating to end you."
