As Koichi asked Yuta to describe his abilities, Yuta started.
“My close combat capabilities are far below compared to both Itachi and Hikari.”
Hearing that Hikari hmphed with mocking tone, but Yuta didn’t pay attention and continued.
“I have mastered Shunshin jutsu and Shadow Clone jutsu and can maintain up to two shadow clones at once, but not for long.”
At that point Hikari glanced at Yuta with slight envy and annoyance, she was not able to make Itachi teach her the jutsu yet, and she seemed fixated on the idea of learning it.
“About my Fuinjutsu knowledge I believe I showed almost all my seals that I can inscribe during the fight on the first day. I also practicing Genjutsu, though my proficiency in it is somewhat lower than Itachi’s.”
Upon mentioning Genjutsu both Koichi and Hikari looked surprised.
“Well then” Koichi said, “Let's have a spar with you to now. I want to look at your techniques with my own eyes.”
With that Koichi and Yuta went to the center of the training grounds and Yuta, as the both his teammates before him, started with Taijutsu. Yuta closed the distance between them and started the fight with a basic academy style in Taijutsu.
Koichi blocked all the kicks and punches easily and thrown some of his own at Yuta that Yuta was barely able to dodge or block. After the short exchange Yuta pulled out a kunai and engaged in a fight once again. Koichi blocked all stabs and slashes with his own kunai easily.
Shortly after that Yuta disengaged and thrown a bunch of shurikens at Koichi but didn’t use ninja wires to control them despite knowing the technique, as that will be just embarrassing to use in front of Itachi, as Yuta’s proficiency with it is bad, as he never mastered it.
Upon pulling out and throwing shurikens Yuta tried to cast a Genjutsu to alter the sense of sight of Koichi to hide one of the shurikens. But Yuta's Genjutsu was disrupted almost at once after he cast it.
‘Damn, did he sense and disrupt my Genjutsu the moment I cast it? Seems like I can’t do anything with my current Genjutsu skills to the opponent of Koichi’s level at all...’
Koichi easily blocked all the shurikens with his kunai.
‘Is that all? What else I can show to him... Maybe my combo with three basic academy jutsu?’
With that though Yuta grabbed a kunai in each hand and threw it at Koichi. One kunai directed at Koichi chest and other one directed slightly to his left, appearing to be missing the target.
Doing so Yuta performed his combination that he was so proud for at the academy. He performed all of the three jutsu almost simultaneously and without any hand seals, at a same time he used Kawarimi to switch places with the kunai that is slightly off target, using Henge to transform in to kunai himself in the process, and finally the Clone jutsu to serve as a decoy in his previous position.
Koichi didn’t show any signs of him detecting the usage of jutsus, but he obviously saw through it... He blocked the kunai that was directed at him and waited for what would happen next.
As Yuta in the form of a kunai passed Koichi, he canceled the Henge jutsu in the most favorable moment and tried to punch Koichi in the chest, but his punch was once again easily blocked.
After that Yuta stopped making moves and looked at Koichi with questioning look. Koichi nodded at Yuta, and they went back to the group, then Koichi said, “Well then, now that I saw all that you are capable of, it’s time to discuss what you should learn next”
“Hikari, your physical strength and speed is great, that also means that your physical energy and Yang aspect of chakra is strong, with that you might have talent for Iryojutsu (medical ninjutsu), as its mostly uses Yang release chakra. But to learn it or not is up to you. If you wish to learn it you should go to the Konoha Hospital, they teach it to any willing shinobi there.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
As you are mainly Kenjutsu user, you should learn the Konoha sword techniques as your next step, and chakra flow technique after that. All of it will greatly improve your strength. As I’m not the Kenjutsu user myself, I can’t teach it to you, but I will find someone to teach you later on.
Another thing that you should practice is nature transformation, but we will talk about that later.”
“Yes sensei!” Hikari happily replied with a smile.
‘Wow, seeing Hikari smiling is creepy, I’m so used to her annoyed and cold look that I didn’t know that she is able to smile...’
“Now about you Itachi” Koichi continued, “Your proficiency in close and medium range combat is very good, you should continue practicing it. Your Genjutsu is good, as well as your Fire release, and your clan is the best place for you to continue developing it and to learn the new techniques, so I’m not teaching you that. Later on, you should consider to master the second element alongside Fire release.”
“Yes sensei” Itachi replied.
“Later I teach all of you a simple D-rank jutsu of each of the five basic elements to determine your affinities, as usual method with chakra paper can only show your main affinity but not the level with others.”
“Now you Yuta” Koichi continued, “Your physical capabilities while being good for you age, that is not what your specialties should rely on. Your spiritual energy and Yin release is strong, almost on the level of Itachi, which means that you have a good talent in the Genjutsu department, and you already shown a good level of Genjutsu before, you should prioritize it above the Taijutsu and close combat. I have a friend in mind that I can ask to teach Genjutsu to you later on.”
“That will not be necessary, sensei” Itachi interjected, “Uchiha clan is the best in Genjutsu, and I will be helping Yuta to develop his Genjutsu myself.”
‘That’s a shame. It would be best to learn from both Itachi and Koichi’s friend, but seems like Itachi didn’t want to someone else to teach me Genjutsu for some reason...’
Hikari hearing Itachi’s statement gave Itachi and Yuta a suspicious look.
“Well, that is good to hear” Koichi replied with a slight smile, “That probably will be for the best for Yuta.
As for Fuinjutsu I will be the one to teach you that, Yuta, as I mentioned before I am a Fuinjutsu master myself.
You also shown an exceptional mastery over multiple ninjutsu, so I believe you have a good talent in this department as well, so learning nature transformation for you is a good way to increase your strength.”
“Yes, sensei” Yuta replied.
‘Well, nothing really new for me. I will be waiting for Koichi to give me more Fuinjutsu materials, teach all of us nature transformation, and waiting for Itachi to help me with sound based Genjutsu. Hikari is the luckiest among three of us, as she is promised a Kenjutsu teacher to learn sword techniques and the chakra flow technique...’
“Well, now that we discussed what you have to do for your future growth” Koichi continued, “And you already learned the basics of squad formations, tactics, protocols and established acceptable level of teamwork, now it’s time for the real training to start!”
‘The real training huh, I was going through intense physical training for two years now, I don’t think there will be anything more to it...’
And with that Yuta’s literal hell begins, as Koichi decided to train his Genin team much more intensely than Yuta was accustomed for, as Yuta’s usual training does not include being beaten up if he not gives his 110% of what he is really capable of. Yuta’s usual training routine also not include passing out every here and there...
While Hikari and Itachi doing much better than Yuta does, they also have their training intensity increased from what is Yuta going through.
Koichi also prepared the training weights seal tags for his team, and manually controlled its weights during the training.
After two weeks of training and occasional D-rank missions Koichi decreased the amount of time of the physical training and limited it to three hours in the morning and three hours at the end of the day with six hours total.
The rest of the time during the day, that is almost 9 hours if there are no missions that day, Koichi make his team to perform all sorts of training such as spars between Genins, spars where everyone against him and all sorts of individual trainings where Koichi creates a shadow clones to train each Genin in whatever skill he sees necessary to improve.
During those individual training sessions Koichi most of the time teaches Yuta Fuinjutsu theory, shows him some of his advanced sealing techniques and stuff like that, with occasional close combat lessons.
On the last day of the first month since the team two is established, when it’s 8pm and the time to end the training day, Koichi gathered his team and announced, “Good job guys, all three of you are improving quite well during this month and I believe that all of you will become exceptional shinobi in the future. And starting from tomorrow I will start teaching you the five basic D-rank elemental ninjutsu to determine your elemental affinities.
Also starting from tomorrow I will start to give you a days off for your personal training.”
‘Damn finally! With this unreasonable training regime, I feel quite exhausted all the time, some days off will be great for some Fuinjutsu and Genjutsu practice. Well, I can do such practice in the time-loop, but I definitely wouldn’t start the time-loop during the timeframe of this intense physical training, that’s for sure!’
