'It's been 11 months since academy started. During this time I learned a lot of good stuff from the library.'
'I learned all what is there about genjutsu theory, and there is a lot to it.'
'Genjutsu have many applications, but in the library there is only information on three types of the genjutsu.'
'The first one is the genjutsu that subtly alter the target senses, for example it can add something fake and erase or alter something that already present in the target's senses, it can influence one or more senses of the target, like vision, hearing and even cause pain to the target;'
'For this kind of genjutsu it's important for it to be subtle, because if target realizes that he is under a genjutsu, he can easily break it by disrupting and flaring their chakra. If the target is very perceptive and pays great attention to the slight details in the environment, he can spot the genjutsu and instantly disrupt it.'
'The great example of good use of it in the anime is during Sasuke and Danzo fight, when Sasuke casts a genjutsu on Danzo to alter his vision and show Danzo that the last Sharingan eye on his hand is still open while it's not, and that causes Danzo's death.'
'The second type is the genjutsu that can override one or more of the senses of the target completely, for example, it can fully shut down the vision or hearing of the target, or completely cut down all that the target sees and override it with the fake picture.'
'This type of genjutsu requires to use much more chakra and influences the target on a bigger scale, because of that its easier for the target to realize that he is under genjutsu, but breaking it might be much more difficult, as this type of genjutsu is generally stronger.'
'The example of it is the Bringer of Darkness genjutsu that shuts down the targets vision, and target sees nothing but complete darkness. In the anime Tobirama under Orochimaru's Edo Tensei jutsu casted this genjutsu on Hiruzen, and Hiruzen was not able to disrupt it, he was only able to continue the fight relying on his other senses as hearing and the sense of smell.'
'The other example of it is Tsukuyomi jutsu that is the Mangekyo Sharingan power. It overrides all senses of the target, well, it's also alters the flow of time inside the illusion, I wonder if I will be able to do something like that in the future without the Sharingan…'
'Anyway, this type of genjutsu is of a higher level and requires a lot more chakra and skill to perform. And the target can more easily sense that his chakra flow is being influenced and disrupt the genjutsu even before it starts working.'
'The third type is the genjutsu where the target's brain is directly influenced to paralyze the target or put him in to sleep. But this type of genjutsu usually requires a lot of chakra to do it, and it also requires time for it to take effect. Because of these two factors a skilled shinobi will usually be able to sense that something is wrong and disrupt this type of genjutsu before it takes effect. But anyway, if this type of genjutsu is performed successfully without interruption, its game over for the target.'
'Almost all types of genjutsu, except some special ones, are under the Yin release category. Genjutsu uses Yin release to transfer the users Yin chakra to the target, to influence his cerebral nervous system, or for simplicity – the brain, through the target's chakra flow.'
'For genjutsu to work, user needs somehow transport his Yin chakra to the target so the some kind of the medium is needed.'
'Well, the chakra can be transferred directly in to the target by the jutsu itself, like Tobirama used the Bringer of Darkness on Hiruzen, but such straightforward approach is usually don't work, it could work only on a weaker and less skilled shinobi.'
'For example, Uchihas are using the visual contact with the help of the Sharingan power as a medium for the genjutsu.'
'What should I use for it? The simplest thing that comes to mind is just a physical contact with the target, but it's too obvious for the target to figure out the reason for me to try to go for the physical contact…'
'There is also a possibility to transfer my chakra through air, it will be harder to spot, but the greater the distance the harder it will be. Also any skilled sensor will be able to spot it. And it will take time to influence the target that way.'
'The other way is to place genjutsu on object or surface. The Bunshin jutsu works that way, and there is the genjutsu in the anime during the Chunin exams that masked the floor number in the building where the first stage of the exam was held. But there is a big flaw to it, as that type of genjutsu can by seeing easily.'
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
'For example, Bunshin clone will not make any impact on the surface it stands, as it just an illusion. Shinobi sensor also can spot the genjutsu placed on the object or surface, as it emits chakra that keeps the genjutsu active.'
'I recall that in the anime some shinobi used the sound as a medium for genjutsu, maybe I can work with that. Maybe I can start speaking with the target as if I'm performing the legendary Talk-no-Jutsu, when in the reality I will enhance my voice with chakra to put my target in to genjutsu? Something like that should work just fine for me.'
'There should be more about genjutsu, but in the academy library doesn't has much else to it.'
'I still in the process of learning the fuinjutsu and it will take some more time before I'm be able to do something practical, like explosive tags or sealing scrolls.'
'After I was done with genjutsu theory I started to learn about poisons. There is a lot of information about poisons, I still not decided if I want to use them myself, so for now I'm learning about how to recognize and counter them.'
'There a lot more stuff in the library that I have to go through, but I have time to do so, there is no rush.'
'During the recent classes they finally taught us how to perform the 3 basic jutsu: Kawarimi (Substitution), Henge (Transformation) and Bunshin (Clone) jutsu.'
'Well, I highly doubt I can learn any other jutsus up until I will graduate, get a Jonin-sensei and make him teach me something… So I decided to master this basic jutsus to a maximum level I possibly can. Maybe I can use them in some creative way or combine them, or even develop something with them as a base.'
'With the newly acquired knowledge of how to perform this jutsus, I changed my daily routine. Now I train for two hours at the morning with jutsus, depleting my chakra, then after classes I spend 3 hours at the library, then another two hours of jutsu training with following one hour of physical training and one hour of sensory technique training.'
'With that my library time is cut off, but there is still the Sunday when I spend almost all day there, so it's fine. I will have enough time to go through the whole library anyway.'
'It's taken only a few days for me to figure out the jutsus and get the hang of it. It not that hard to perform, I have to channel my chakra through a hand seals to let the hand seals help me molding chakra the right way, when the right sequence of hand seals is completed and chakra that channeled for the jutsu is molded, I have to release it and jutsu should start working.'
'My thoughts during the process are also important, as my intent influences the channeled chakra to specify the target for the jutsu and the desired result of the jutsu.'
'Other important aspect while performing any jutsu is to channel only the required amount of chakra for it, as the any excess chakra will usually just go to waste. If there is not enough chakra – the jutsu might not work at all or the result may not be the way I wanted it to be.'
'Kawarimi jutsu is quite interesting one, it needs an object somewhere around me as a target to replace my position with that object. The more similar the target object is to my body in terms of mass and size – the easier to perform the jutsu. The distance to the target object is also mattered.'
'The jutsu is not the teleportation or something - it's just a fast transition. The jutsu is not only switches the positions of my body and the object, it's also briefly conceals the transition and masks the object to look like me for a split second.'
'The logs is commonly used for it just because it's convenient, there is a lot of trees in the Land of Fire, and jutsu with some additional chakra spent can yoink the log from a nearby tree just like that. And by the time the enemy will spot the tree that missing the part of it, the jutsu is served its purpose already.'
'Henge jutsu can temporarily transform the user to change its appearance. On the surface this jutsu is simple, it can disguise the user to look like someone else, but this jutsu has so many depths in to it. Sure it can be used only as a disguise, but it actually can temporary alter the user physical properties, even changing the user in to something like a kunai, with all the properties of it, like sharpness and sturdiness!'
'To perform something more than just changing the appearance, it's requires some serious mastery over the jutsu, also the bigger the change the more chakra it requires, and the better the understanding of the properties of the target object is needed. Also the user has to maintain the focus on the jutsu and channel chakra to sustain it at all times.'
'In theory it is possible to Henge in to something like a pebble on the road, copying all the properties of it, even a scent. But it's not perfect, as you still need to maintain the jutsu by using chakra, and sensor type shinobi can sense it.'
'Hm… Maybe I can somehow disguise my chakra to hide perfectly with Henge… Anyway, it's a long way to go to fully master this jutsu, it does actually have so many applications and depth in to it, I wander why it's not used more often in the anime.'
'And finally there is a Bunshin, the basic genjutsu!'
'Sadly, but it's not the type of genjutsu I'm interested in. It's placed on the ground around the user or on a user itself so clone illusions can move alongside the user to confuse the enemy.'
'I was the most interested in this jutsu, but it turns out the most useless one. As it is, in its base form, it doesn't have many uses in combat. It can distract the enemy maybe, but if the enemy looks down he can easily discern the real me from the illusion as illusion will not press the grass and stuff like that.'
'Maybe I can somehow combine the Kawarimi with Bunshin to left my image in place while I go somewhere else stealthily? Well, this Idea is interesting, but as of now, the Bunshin jutsu is just a joke.'
