Turning around to memorize what my starting area looked like, I noticed that the door was simply a hole in the side of a tree, a very thin tree, so thin in fact, that my single room filled the entire inside of the tree. Also, the door was glowing ever so slightly, with a marker that faded the farther away I got from it, the marker being the image of a house; I'm guessing it's meant to be a home marker? What kind of MMORPG just gives out free homes? I decided it was too much to think about and chalked it up to either being a present for the first batch of gamers or as an item to sway you to keep playing. Something interesting about this game was that, unlike other games where all player houses are behind the same door that would teleport you to your own separate instance, everyone's houses were separated. Also, you can do things as significant as being the king of your own nation, so if players wanted to move in, they would need their own house, meaning the king would need to make a housing district.
Clearing my mind off of the house-tree hybrid, I headed to the quest marker that was at the large tree, honestly this... town? looks identical to a normal forest, the only way that I can even tell these trees aren't normal is the large holes cut high into them. If I remember correctly, I am 6 inches tall, and if I use my height as a guide, I'd say these holes cut in the trees are about 16 to 20 feet high. Meaning if a human were to walk through this forest without looking up, they would be none the wiser.
It didn't take long to fly to the tree that was about the size of a redwood, but as I got closer, I could see quite a few other Pixies flying around both in and outside of it, all of them being a good amount taller than me, most of which are double my size... right I made myself as small as possible. But none the less, I still flew into the main doorway to continue the quest. Inside I found a large room, filled with many different areas, one area being a counter, with a huge white ball behind it, and a short line in front of it, from there I saw a tall Pixie walking away excitedly, as he held a shortsword. After looking around, he then walked to a separate counter, one with a beautiful woman standing behind it... looking away, I also saw a wall full of different books, and it was a tall wall too, as being able to fly it seems the maximum height for bookshelves was much greater. The final notable thing I noticed was the stairwell on the final wall, going both up and down, although no signs were nearby so I have no idea what was in there.
For now, I decided to follow the quest marker, which led me to the short line going to the white ball, now completely empty as I took too long looking around. As I stepped up to the counter, a strong-looking man looked down from the other side at me "I'm sorry little one, but you must be at least 15 years old to get your spirit tool, the magic inside might kill you with a body too weak."
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
I looked up at him confused, as I myself am 20 years old, but how do I tell him that? He's treating me the same way you would scold a child... "I, um, I am old enough..." I barely got out, phew, talking is way too hard, even if this was just an NPC, I can barely say anything without feeling like I'll asphyxiate...
"Oh? then touch this crystal, it'll tell me your age, you know, as a precaution." He said in a condescending voice as he pulled a crystal that looked like an amethyst from under the counter.
"Jeez, this guy is such an asshole. But whatever, I'll just do it." I thought to myself as I touched the crystal. As I did, I felt a draining feeling leave my hand, the same draining feeling I had when I was in flight, so I guess that it's draining some magic? It only took a few seconds, but an almost holographic image of myself with my stats next to it, well by stats I mean...
Name: Zoner
Height: 0 Feet 6 Inches
Age: 20 years old
Spirit Item: unknown
Level: 1
The man looked at it slightly embarrassed "I'm sorry ma'am, I uh, here right this way" he said as he guided me to the giant white ball. "Just place your hand on the Spirit Summoning Sphere, and soon you'll have your item." He said in a more commanding voice, probably trying to gain back some dignity. These are some really well-made NPCs, I remember that I read somewhere that every single NPC had an AI no matter how unimportant they were, and if this guy is an AI, then being condescending to people based on appearance is very human, well, Pixie.
After mentally rolling my eyes, I walked up to the spirit summoning sphere, as he had called it, and placed my hand on it, this time it felt like a lot of magic was being pulled. The game didn't have a HUD like other games, instead, you had to simply tell for yourself how much health, mana, and stamina you had, which is both a neat idea and a terrible one.
soon the feeling of draining slowed down to a stop, and a small white glob seemed to pull itself out from the sphere, before gliding down in front of me. "Was this glob my spirit item? well, they did say it was randomly generated per player when they were doing the trailer a year ago... I almost forgot about it.." I thought to myself as it continued slowly descending down to me. I raised my hand up to it to try and hold it, but instead of going in my hand it wrapped around my ring finger, solidifying into a plain white ring, the only thing of note was the prongs that would normally hold a diamond or another gem was empty. Confused, I looked up to the man for an answer, but he seemed just as confused as I was.
