CHAPTER 6

Diana Garrett, Heiress of the Garrett's Family. A conglomerate known for its top-rank fashion company. Their company only hosted the best models and big shots around the globe but who would have imagined that the heiress would choose to become a police officer?

Anyone who finds out who Diana was for the first time might just drop down in shock. Even those who knew her well still find it hard to comprehend how she does her things. A rich Heiress working as a police officer. It sounded absurd but what could anyone possibly do?

Diana had made up her mind since she turned eight to be a police officer and despite her parent's nagging, she still did it. The only promise she made to her parents to stop their nagging was that she was still going to participate in the company's affair and attend some meetings whenever she could.

Sometimes, Jaden would ask her why she chose to be a police officer over a life of luxury where everything she wanted would be right in front of her, but her answer always remained the same; "I want to do something for myself and not depend solely on my parents."

Though her answer made a lot of sense, yet, Jaden couldn't help but think that there was more to it than she was letting on, but since she wasn't telling him, then he wasn't going to probe into it.

She had moved out of her parent's house the year she graduated from the police academy. She didn't want to stay at any of her parents' villas, so she bought a semi-lavish apartment with her name, though it was her parent's money but when she started getting her pay she paid them back saying she only borrowed their money.

Her mother wasn't surprised at her actions because she knew how stubborn her daughter was. so they couldn't do anything other than let Diana do whatever was on her mind. Her brother always loved visiting her and would stay at her place during his holiday and she didn't mind at all.

If there was someone Diana loved in the whole world, it was her little brother and even if she wasn't someone who liked flaunting her wealth as she saw it as childishness, she never ceased to spoil her brother.

Back to my story...

"So how long are you going to keep me hanging?"

Diana heard Jaden's question and she understood what he was talking about without him elaborating.

"Do you remember Luca Francesco?" Diana asked, taking another bite of her BBQ.

"How can I forget?" Jaden replied with a question. "I killed him, so what does this have to do with him?"

"That bullet Taylor found looked exactly like the ones he used when he was alive, except for the,..." Drawing a slow breath, she dropped her cutlery. "It had a similar but different engraving." She said.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

"What do you mean?"

"The golden bullet Luca always used had a small, bold crucifix, and at the center of the cross, the family name was engraved in it, but this,.." She paused momentarily, remembering what she noticed, "This one had just a word on it."

Jaden eyes narrowed, his brows knitted turning his expression serious. Also dropping his cutlery, he concentrated his whole attention on Diana. "What word?"

"Hades." Diana gave a terse answer.

"Hades?" Jaden repeated her word waiting for a clear confirmation and he got one when she nodded and added. "La Dinastia Francesco's was not heard of again after Luca's death, so seeing that bullet,..."

"Means someone is trying to make it known again," Jaden completed her words, "Or perhaps, they've gotten a new leader."

Diana exhaled deeply at the uncertainty. "So, we're looking into the mafia family again?" And Jaden nodded.

"Ah! Shit!" She cursed out loud not hiding her frustration. Suddenly, her phone rang, breaking their conversation. Taking it out of her pocket, she checked the caller ID and answered the call. "Hey Kyle, got anything?" She said immediately.

"Yes, I already sent the video to you," Kyle said on the other end of the line. "You can check it out. You might find something pretty interesting."

"Interesting?" Diana's brows knitted. And when she didn't hear any word from Kyle, she added. "Thanks, I'll check it." Before ending the call.

"What is it?" Jaden asked, seeing the expression on her face.

Pressing her phone to check what Kyle sent for her urgently, she answered Jaden. "I told Kyle to extract the videos from the surveillance cameras at the crime scene and send it to me."

Finally, she saw the video Kyle had sent to her in her messenger app. She stood up from her seat, moved towards Jaden, and placed her hand on the table in a way that they could both watch it together before playing the video.

It was a short video of just eight minutes and some seconds. It started from the minute Gabriel arrived at the A&D hall premises till his last moment.

Jaden and Diana watched the video silently, though they could not hear a single word being said, it was still important they watched it to the end and observed virtually everything possible.

After the video ended both of them glanced at each other. "So we have six more suspects?" Diana said almost in a whisper, breaking the silence.

"I guess so." Jaden nodded, "But I think, Miss Isabella would have a lot to tell us first."

****

Jaden was inside his room he normally stays in Diana's house. He was lying down on the bed with his eyes lifted to the ceiling. It was time for him to go to sleep in preparation for tomorrow but his eyes weren't even slightly heavy.

At the moment, sleep was the last thing on his mind and nature seemed to agree with him as it didn't force him into slumber. Jaden mind was running in different directions yet it led to one— "La Dinastia Francesco."

Jaden remembered clearly how he had killed Luca Francesco by shooting him twice— one to the heart, and the other to the head. So how come Diana says the bullet looks exactly like Luca's? Jaden had made sure to keep an eye out for the mafia family immediately after Luca's death and they all separated so how was it possible? Or was Diana lying?

Nah, Diana can't lie over something like that. It's either someone is trying to copy him or a family member is trying to raise the gang again. But then, did Luca have any children? He wasn't even married and Jaden had done a thorough background check on Luca before. Luca had no child or wife he hid. Or was that entirely true? Did he miss something during his investigation?

"Argh!!!" Jaden exhaled deeply. Things are just not adding up to him. No matter what, he had to see the bullet for himself tomorrow. His mind was unsettled and he couldn't help but feel something was going to go wrong.
