My Life is a Lie
chapter five

chapter five

Once Zyra got to the room, Cece and Iris were in, Cece looked up, "was Axel mad?"

"Nope, " Zyra lies, thinking back to the conversation.

"I'm sorry but Cece, Iris, and I won't be able to train today. " Cece explains to Axel.

"Why not?" Axel asks, crossing his arms.

"For reasons," Zyra says nervously.

"What's the reason? I can't just let y'all skip training for no reason, I need y'all, the country needs y'all!" Axel exclaims, sighing.

Zyra looked at Alex for help, giving him a look. Alex, knowing exactly what that look meant, he nodded and turned to his dad, "I can assure you that the reason is a good reason, but needs to stay unspoken."

Axel sighs, knowing Alex is friends with the girls, and knew he wouldn't lie to him, nodded, "fine y'all can skip training for today, just make sure you get the problem solved."

Yes sir, thank you." Zyra says, heading to the bedroom.

Zyra was pulled back to the present when Iris tapped her on the shoulder, "earth to Zyra!"

"Huh? What?" Zyra asks, blinking.

"You spaced out, " Iris chuckles.

"Oh, my bad." Zyra says, sheepishly. While Zyra and Iris were chatting, Cece laid down, staring at the ceiling.

She didn't try to get their attention, she just let them chat, knowing they would have more fun talking amongst themselves. She began to think of how things used to be. Everything was so much easier when they were in the simulation.

She wished she could disappear, it would make life easier on everyone… or so she thought. She didn't know it, but she is actually very vital to the mission. In fact, everyone on the mission was vital to the mission.

Zyra and Iris were still chatting, it didn't even occur to them that Cece was talking with them, their minds were occupied with Alex. Iris, who was trying to talk Zyra into asking Alex out, while Zyra refused, knowing they had more important things, and figured he would also reject her, shook her head, blushing.

"Cece, can I get some help please?" Iris asks, absentmindedly. "Cece? " Iris asks, after Cece didn't respond. She frowned, looking over at Cece, "are you ok?" She asks, shaking her slightly.

"Huh?" Cece asks, taking her gaze off the ceiling, glancing at Iris and Zyra.

"You ok? You didn't respond. Were you not apathetic of the conversation? " Iris asks, softly.

Cece shakes her head, "I've been thinking while y'all were chatting away."

"We're sorry Cece, we didn't mean to leave you out, we just figured you were being quiet like normal," Iris explains.

"We were being insensitive, we're here yo talk to Cece, to help her, not to gossip about guys," Zyra reminds Iris, sighting.

Iris looks down, feeling guilty, "you're right Zyra," she pauses and looks up at Zyra, then at Cece, "sorry Cece, I-I wasn't thinking."

"It's all right," Cece says, shrugging. She was used to being left out, she was used to people thinking she was a part of the conversation and was just being quiet. She didn't like it, but what could she do about it?

When in reality there was a lot she could do about it, she just wouldn't do it. She could tell them the truth about how she feels when she gets left out all the time. She could force herself into the conversation. She could even try speaking up for herself, but she was too afraid.

Zyra and Iris looked at Cece worriedly, “Cece...about earlier, how ya feeling?” Zyra asks, softly, but Cece just shrugs, she wasn’t in the mood to talk about earlier.

“Cece,” Zyra says, softly as she takes her hand in hers, “please talk to us, all we want to do is help.

“Just leave it alone!” Cece says, getting annoyed. “Please? I just don’t want to talk about it right now,” she adds, softly. Zyra and Iris's eyes widen, they wasn't expecting her to yell like that, she never raises her voice.

"Cece, " Zyra says softly, "you can't hold all this in forever." Cece just looks away, thinking about everything and nothing at the same time. Zyra and Iris frowned, not sure how to help, and before they knew it, they all three fell asleep, exhausted from the eventful day that had.

Meanwhile, Alex was training with his dad when a woman with long wavy blond hair walks in. "Alex...training is over for today, go to your room," Axel says, sternly.

"Yes sir, " Alex says, sheathing his sword, frowning at the women as he makes his way to his room, which was right beside the girls room. Alex hung his sword up on the wall, changed his clothes, and fell down on his bed.

He laid there trying to figure out why that woman seemed so familiar, he just couldn't place where he knew her from. After a while, he ended up falling asleep.

Meanwhile, Axel was talking to the woman with his arms crossed, "why are you here? I told you the girls aren't ready yet."

"They should have already been," the woman counters.

Axel sighs, "we had some… complications with the antidote, they've only been out of the simulation for two days."

'They should have been training today then," the woman scoffs.

"Something came up…"

"What kind of thing?"

"Apparently, it's best left untold."

The woman frowns, "I hope you can trust these kids."

"I feel like I can, also I only have four out of the six people we need, " Axel explains.

The woman raises a brief, "you mean to tell me that you don't have the full team?" Axel chuckles nervously and nods. The woman groans, "have the full team in two months, Axel."

"Right of course," Axel sighs, looking at her "y'know Emma, you were a lot more lenient before our divorce."

"We would have still been together if you hadn't taken this job."

"Yes, I know, but why won't you tell Alex? He doesn't remember you, but he does ask questions."

"You know it's safer if we don't tell him." Emma sighs and looks down, "I don't like not telling him, but if anyone were to find out he was my son, people would come after him." Axel just sighs and nods, knowing all of this was true. Emma looks down, just please don't let him forget me completely."

"Don't worry, I won't. " Axel gives a small reassuring smile as Emma walks off.
