My Life is a Lie
Chapter eight

Chapter eight

Alex made his way to his room and laid down on his bed. Did Zyra like him? Did he like Zyra? All these thoughts began to run through his head as he laid there on his back, staring at the ceiling. He didn't know what to think about this new information he had heard.

He couldn't believe it, Zyra liked him! He just thought she saw him as a good friend. Alex smiled at that thought, thinking about how he feels about Zyra, trying to figure out if he likes her back.

Although, it would be a really bad idea to have feelings for her considering his role with the government. He's a double agent but which side was he actually on? Even he didn't know, that is something he had to think about.

He yawned, tired after training the girls and going to talk to Jack, he turned his light off and laid there, wondering which side he wanted to be on. He always talked bad about the government to the girls but that was because he's a double agent, did he believe what he told them? He knew it was true, but did he really think it was a bad thing?

Maybe the government taking control was a good thing? Maybe this would help with the world's population? It made sense, although he didn't like how Jack was going about it, but this might be The only way. He hated that he had to lie to everyone but he didn't have a choice, if anyone found out he was a double agent, he would be done for. No one would trust him, his father would turn against him, Jack wouldn't help find his mom, the girls would hate him, he would lose his chances with Zyra as well. He sighed and eventually fell into a deep sleep thinking about Zyra.

Zyra, Cece, and Iris were lounging around their room as they talked about Zyra's crush on Alex, and How Iris and Cece needed to find someone for them. "So are you ever gonna ask him out? You've known him for years!" Cece exclaims.

"Well I want to, but with everything that's going on, it wouldn't be a very good idea." Zyra sighs and looks down, "I would just distract him from his goal."

"You don't know that for sure," Iris says, trying to reassure Zyra.

Zyra shrugs, "I don't wanna think about this right now, I still have time to ask him out once this government thing is dealt with," she smiles.

"Yea, you do, which means we need to get this government defeated as soon as possible!" Cece exclaims, "but this means we have to train harder than ever!"

"Cece's right!" Iris exclaims, smiling.

“Alright then, let’s go!” Cece exclaims, oddly enthusiastic for once. Iris nods and the two of them jump up, pulling Zyra up as well, “come on silly, we don’t have time to waste!” Zyra blinks, not exactly sure what was going on, as Cece and Iris ran out of the room, pulling Zyra along with them.

The three of them entered the training room, causing Zyra to finally catch onto their plan. Zyra grinned and grabbed her sword, honestly, she missed the feeling of holding a sword, it made her feel so good. She smirked and began to swing it at a random dummy she found in the training room. She practiced going in and out of her stance as she swung, hoping to get that down so she can move on during the next training period.

Cece and Iris grinned as they watched her, knowing she was really getting into this and why. She had never cared about guys, she honestly had eyes for girls, now Cece and Zyra didn’t care who she was into and they fully supported her when she dated a girl, but they could tell she had feelings for Alex and she didn’t realize. She had came out as a lesbian a few years back, but Cece and Iris knew she liked Alex, even if she didn’t realize it herself. They planned on getting those two together, no matter what it took.

Cece and Iris decided to train more themselves since they were already in the training room. Cece grabbed her bow and arrow, found a target, and began to practice aiming, not shooting it through, she wanted to get used to looking at her target and aiming. Iris grabbed her throwing knives, found a target a few feet away from Cece and began throwing them, practicing hitting her target.

The three girls practiced this for a while, and weren't paying attention to their surroundings, meaning they didn’t realize when a sound was heard a few rooms over. What was going on a few rooms over? Well a few rooms over, the government had broken in, wanting to find out why Alex wasn’t answering their calls, plus they were interested in one of the women that were training, it was the one that is learning how to sword fight. They had heard about how much Alex cares for her, and wanted to use her as leverage, so that Alex would never betray them. Jack had heard a rumor that Alex was thinking about betraying them, they only knew this because they have a psychic. Yes, they were interested in the other two women, but they know kidnapping one at a time is more efficient then kidnapping all three of them at once.

Jack did his own dirty work most of the time, he didn’t trust many lackeys, it took a lot to gain his trust and when you lost it, it was extremely hard to gain it back, but not impossible. He has a map of the building that was provided to them by Alex. Jack and the few people he trusted, also known as his wife, Veera, and his best friend, Fares. Jack, Veera, and Fares were inside the building, trying to find the girls when they heard grunting and laughing.

Jack motioned for Veera and Fares to silently follow him as they made their way to the room they heard the laughter in. After walking around for a few minutes, Jack put a hand out, motioning for the other two to stop before they got any closer. Jack peeked around the corner to see Iris, Cece, and Zyra training and laughing. Jack smirked, knowing it would be easy to grab Zyra after he saw the girls training, they were horrible! He looked behind him and motioned for Veera and Fares to come on, and the three of them entered the room.

“Good evening girls, we’re partners of Axel. He asked us to help you with your training. We were going to wait until tomorrow, but since y’all are already training, why not start tonight?” Jack asks, lying straight to their faces.

“Wait really? You’ll help us get stronger?” Zyra asks, her face lighting up with excitement. Jack nods, smirking on the inside. Cece furrowed her brows, she was a little suspicious of these three. Why wouldn’t Axel tell them they were getting help from other people? Cece was sure that Axel trusted them enough to tell them stuff like this, so why didn’t they already know about this? Cece didn’t trust these people, and snuck out of the room since she was pretty much invisible to everyone since she didn’t really stand out. One she was successfully out of the room, she started looking for Axel.

No one noticed that Cece was gone, Zyra and Iris were busy ‘learning’ new stuff about fighting. Fares was helping Iris with throwing knives, but he was honestly doing the bare minimum, he didn’t want her getting good at it, if she was good, she could become a professional assassin, which would cause trouble for the government.

Veera was standing guard outside the room while Jack was helping Zyra with sword fighting, but was also doing the bare minimum, as he led her out of the room. He did this without her knowing by getting her to practice stepping forward as she also practiced swinging the sword around. It was slow, but after a few minutes Zyra was successfully out of the room and away from Iris, causing Veera to grab her, putting a rag against her nose and mouth, causing her to get woozy after a few minutes. It took a good five minutes for Zyra to fall limp, but during those five minutes, Zyra did not go down easily. Even if she had dropped her sword, she struggled to get away. She held her breath as long as she could, as she tried to twist out of Veera’s grip. She made sure npt to struggle too much, resulting in her to last longer than most. Unfortunately, in the end, she couldn’t hold her breath any longer and breathed in the chloroform. Once she fell unconscious, Jack whistled, letting Fares know their mission was complete.

Once Fares heard this, he looked at Iris, wanting to end this as soon as possible, “that's enough for tonight, you need to rest up for tomorrow.” Iris nods, smiles, and thanks him before going to put her k=throwing knives up. While she’s doing that, Fares slips out of the room and joins up with Veera and Jack, who was carrying an unconscious Zyra, as they make their way out of the house and back to their building they stay in.

Once they got back, they put Zyra in a cell, then left, not wanting to deal with her screams of fear when she woke up, they wanted to sleep instead. Fares went to his room and immediately passed out, whereas Jack and Veera went to Galen’s room. “Galen?” Jack calls out as he opens the door to his son’s room.

“Daddy!” Galen exclaims, as he runs over to Jack, jumping into his arms.

“There’s my big boy!” Jack exclaims, smiling. “I’m pretty sure your mother told you to be in bed by the time we got home, you know you can’t stay up till we get home from every mission, you have school, plus it isn’t healthy.”

“I know...I just couldn’t sleep...I was worried about you, mommy, and uncle Fares…”

Jack sighs, “I know...anyways it’s time for bed.” He says, walking over to Galen’s bed, and laying him down, tucking him in, as Veera grabbed a bedtime story to read to Galen. Veera read the story to Galen, which was about a sugar glider that went on the adventure of its lifetime, because it jumped from person to person. Galen was fast asleep by the end of the book, so Jack and Veera kissed him goodnight, before going to their room, to get ready for bed themselves. They changed their clothes, laid down, and instantly went to sleep, letting their worries of the world disappear.
