Chapter 19.

The lady had moved me through a complex of airvents, and we dropped out into a field.

A good kilometer away, I saw what looked like a field of wheat burning like all hell. Apparently, this was where hell had clashed with heaven a week ago. Yeah, I’ve been in a coma for an entire week.

“Look at this place. You and your demons really wrecked some damage… Well, they’re not your demons anymore.”

The ground we were standing on was charred. The entire floor was flaking away, and ash was flowing on the wind.

“Do you know what happened when Jesus crushed your head?”

I did as best a headshake as I could.

“It was like as if another sun formed on our farmland. Everyone within three metres of you were completely eradicated. Only the head of God remained.”

My eyes widened in fear. Faron was within that area.

If this lady is speaking the truth…

“Your dragon body Is still there, though. We’re almost there.”

If she hadn’t told me that’s what it was, I would never have guessed.

My body was like a small mountain. A towering, black blob lying completely still on the ash-ridden landscape.

The lady lifted me up to her head and turned me to face her. I had no other option than to look into her eyes.

“If I reunite you with your body, do you promise to cease your destruction? We’ve suffered enough already. A rouge demon dragon won’t help our situation at all.”

I did as best I could to mouth “ok”.

“Deal?”

I mouthed “deal”.

The lady smiled a little. “I’ll hold you to it.”

Next thing I knew, she submerged my head in the black blob.

Finally…

-

After a good minute, I had finally managed to regrow my dragon head on my body.

I looked around the area around me. There was a little crater around five meters from where I was lying.

“Thank you.”

The woman next to me looked up at me with a smile. “I hope I won’t come to regret my choice…”

“I owe my life to you…”

I bowed my head down to the woman.

She hesitated for a moment, before petting my snout.

I breathed out a puff of fire.

“But I have one question. How can I trust you? How do you know Luca planned to kill me?”

The woman removed her hand from my snout.

“Isn’t it obvious? They didn’t even return your head to your body. They wanted you at a vulnerable position.”

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

I shrugged. “They could have been shielding me from danger. You’re the stranger who barged into a secluded compound without any invitation.”

The woman sighed. “Yeah, I know I look suspicious. But what do you have to lose in trusting me? If you decide to trust Luca instead, think of what that might cost you.”

She does have a point. If she is indeed speaking the truth, Luca will kill me. But if she’s lying? Well, what would she gain from it?

I’m a huge dragon with more power than literally anything else in this world. You’d be majorly stupid to challenge that, especially as a normal human with no extra powers.

“Okay, fine. I’ll believe you. What happens now, then?”

The woman smirked. “I knew you would come to your senses eventually. Come, I’ll show you.”

She looked to the crater where my human body had apparently exploded.

There it was. God’s disembodied head.

The last remnants of the strongest being in existence.

“Go ahead. Take his power.”

It occurred to me that Luca had never told me how to siphon power from others.

It couldn’t be too hard, right?

I stretched out a hand, before clenching my fist.

-

“Dad! I’ve been looking for you for ages!”

My stupid son Jesus… always nagging me with tasks that need to be performed.

Wait. What is this?

I must be experiencing some of God’s memories, I guess.

“What is it now…”

Jesus kneeled in front of me. “The new Demon lord, Andras, has improved the living standard of hell vastly. We have to investigate this.”

I sat up in my chair, before putting a hand on my son’s shoulder.

“Rise. We will depart immediately.”

Andras. I know you’re ivading my power, and my memories.

This means you won our duel.

Oh great, is this one of those ‘I knew this would happen all along’ moments?

I hope you’ll use my powers responsibly…

Goodbye.

-

I opened my eyes.

“Woah. You look… different.”

I looked down at the woman. She was so much farther away than she was before…

And was this… light emanating from my eyes?

It was in the middle of the night, yet it was as if the whole area was illuminated by floodlights.

I looked down at my legs. Oh.

The once-green scales that made up my skin had turned a holy white color, and the flames surrounding my body had become more of a vibrant green.

Am I… an angel now?

-

Luca POV:

-

God damn it all.

Somebody’s taken Andras’ head.

“Heltana, we need to find him quickly before things turn from bad to worse.”

She nodded before dashing out of the room.

Where the hell could he have gone…

Then I felt it.

An immense holy presence washed over me like a tidal wave.

We’re already too late.

-

Andras POV:

-

While I was busy admiring my new form, a blue streak of light appeared on the night sky above me.

Heltana.

As soon as her name left my mind, an incredible sensation of power rushed through my body.

It culminated into the same feeling as when I was first transforming into my full-power form. Too much power to be contained in this body.

I let out a roar of anger, and the feeling dissipated.

I was momentarily blinded by a bright flash of light.

“Hello Andras. Did you miss me?”

My vision cleared.

Before me now was a huge wolf made of brilliant yellow flame.

“F-faron? But… didn’t you die?”

Before he had the chance to answer, a huge black sword formed in the middle of the air, surrounded by a blue flame.

I was about to alert Faron to the attack, but the wolf before me disappeared before I had the chance.

Then, the sword broke in two.

The source? Faron.

His brilliant spirit-wolf form crashed into the blade with a fury unlike I’d ever seen before.

And then there was silence.

Complete and utter silence, only broken by the occasional flutter of flame coming from any of us three fiery beings.

“Y-You did it. We… We did it.”

Heltana’s feminine voice suddenly burst the bubble of silence.

“Andras… I know we never really talked much… but I have to confess something.”

She stood up from the ground, now with her entire left arm missing.

“I’ve always admired your strength as a leader. Ever since I first laid my eyes on you, yes, even before you won over Jiren in that battle, I could sense that you were destined for greatness.”

She fell to the floor. The holy damage that had been inflicted by Faron’s attack was apparently too great to hold back, and her arm wound suddenly began seeping black ink into the ashy ground beneath us.

“Fate has destined me to die here, under the service of a false god. But you know what? Screw it. Screw fate. I want to go out my way.”

Heltana clenched her arm wound shut, keeping some of the blood from leaking.

“I want you to fuck me up. I want the last feeling I experience on this mortal plane to be your fat fucking dragon co-

Her speech was interrupted rudely when the author realized what the fuck he was writing, and he went to bed out of pure shame and self-reflection.

“Wow. I guess I won’t go out my way then.”

She then turned to dust like as if Thanos had just infinity-snapped her away.

-

And this is what I woke up to this morning, alongside a terrible hangover.
