A new motif?

I sat beside Faron and waited for him to wake up.

‘Luca, what did the fairy do which knocked them out this hard?’

It used separation magic. The spell can effectively rip a wolf from its human, which often causes complete loss of self. In werewolves, the wolf is basically the equivalent of their subconscious mind and losing that part of yourself can lead to severe delirium and loss of consciousness.

Hm. ‘Well, I'm glad it isn’t the same way with demons. Just falling limp because my subconsciousness got removed when you exit this body? Yeah, no thanks.’

I noticed that Faron was moving. Ah, he’s awake again.

I put a hand on my head and pretended to talk with Luca. Why did I do this? Well, I don’t like getting thanks from people. I helped them, they would do the same, that’s it. No need for thanks.

I went back to valentine and noticed that my tent was finished. Huh, I guess Jesse or David must have done it while I was helping Faron. I’ll thank them tomorrow.

-

BOO! The timeskip from book 1 is here!

-

I saw Luca wipe some sweat off his brow. Working as a blacksmith was a very smart suggestion he had proposed.

Of course, we don’t actually do any smithing. Either I summon the weapons myself if I'm working in my human body, or Luca does it. The occasional smithing we do is either for fun or to practice. I would actually like to become legitimately good at it, but the quality of the blades we produce ourselves were not nearly good enough to sell.

You might be asking how I can use my demon body in the overworld without any worry? Well, 9 months is a long time practicing my powers. I found out quite quickly that I could manipulate how my form is perceived by mortals. At this point, I've gotten so well at the camouflage that I was basically invisible, but there was one flaw. I still had a shadow, so it’s most effective at night.

Right now, I was sitting on the roof of the blacksmith. Hm, I think I would like to fly with Egnis and Ragnar today, perhaps.

The two dragons had grown impressively in size through the last 9 months. It turns out that when they were taken by my control they were still in the growing stages of dragons. The reason they had offspring at such a young age is because the dragon species is already very small in numbers, and they felt it was their duty to keep their species going.

You remember what I said about being able to manipulate how mortals perceive my form? Well, it’s not limited to simple perception. I am now able to grow wings at will, and a tail too for that matter. When I grow these parts, I look almost like a demi-dragon.

But that’s not the only thing that’s been going on in these past 9 months. Hell has gotten quite a lot of improvements, and God himself was actually down there to look at how it had become. Yeah, I know right? God!

Anyway. Luca, currently inhabiting my body, had apparently gotten this assignment to bodyguard Faron on some diplomatic meeting. Even though Luca had gotten better at controlling my body, I still didn’t trust him on big things like this. I jumped off the roof and pulled Luca inside the smith.

“Jeez, calm down, we have plenty of time.” Luca said, trying to free himself from my grasp.

I wouldn’t hear any of it and before long I had transferred my consciousness into the body.

If this wasn’t your body, what you did now would have been more or less the same as rape.

‘Oh, you big baby. As you said, this is my body.’

Actually, while we are on the topic of bodies, I need to hide my demon form. I grabbed the lifeless burning frame by the neck and stuffed it into the chimney. Yeah, that will do.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Okay, now. Gotta meet Faron at a hut, or something. I’m not really sure exactly what Luca said.

-

When we reached the hut, I put one of my hands on Faron’s shoulder. "Here, I'll leave a little piece of Luca on you. If anything happens, he'll tell me. I'll come in right away."

Faron nodded thanks and entered the hut.

Now all that remained was to wait here.

-

It's been a long time since Faron entered the hut. My top priority was keeping him alive right now. I need him if I'm going to realize my grand plan.

Relax, I can still feel his heartbeat- Wait. Something happened. It suddenly went much slower.

My eyes widened at Luca's words, and I smashed the door down with a kick.

I saw Faron lying on the floor in a pool of blood.

‘Luca, how about you handle this one.’ I said, before clenching my throat.

Gladly!

He shot out of my body like a bullet.

"OH, YOU FUCKERS ARE DEAD NOW!" Luca screamed.

Unfortunately, without Luca keeping the wound of my would-be death back, they returned. My throat was now slit. It’s been a while since I felt this feeling, but it’s all right. If the worst comes to worst, I'll just return to my demon body.

That was the last thing I thought before I lost consciousness.

-

Oh, would you look at that. I’m in my demon body again. What a surprise.

I squeezed out from inside the chimney before activating my camouflage. Wouldn’t want to scare the good populace of Valentine after all.

After running for a little while, I arrived at the hut. Luca had possessed my body again and was stood upright.

“It’s all going exactly as planned...” Luca grinned, before grabbing ahold of Faron and dashing over to the hospital.

“Indeed, it is.”

-

We arrived at the hospital, where Luca put on a very convincing act of being scared for Faron’s life. After around half an hour of him helping the doctor with his wounds, Luca gave me a thumbs-up.

Perfect.

I sat down on the floor in thought. Aaalmost got it... There. The connection to Faron’s wolf.

I tapped into it and dragged the helpless wolf into the personal pocket-dimension inside my mind.

“Hello Omen. You must have a million questions, and I can tell you they will all be answered in due time. Before we do anything else, I need to ask you a question. Are you prepared to remain silent about the things you are about to hear?”

I could tell by the wolf’s expression that he was scared. He was probably at his breaking point at this point.

“I only need you to answer with a nod. I don’t require verbal confirmation.”

Omen’s head was shaking. It was probably just nerves, but under the circumstances it could easily be interpreted as a no.

“If you say no, well... Neither you nor I would benefit from that eventuality.” I pointed a finger at him, menacingly. “Okay, let’s start off with a simpler question to see if you’re at all lucid. Are you Faron’s wolf?”

Omen nodded.

“Good. Now, I will ask again. Are you prepared to remain-”

Before I could finish my sentence, Omen spoke.

“Yes.”

“Excellent.”

“I will be straight with you Omen. No matter how good of a Doctor Randy is, Faron will die without my help. My assistant has infused his body with a poison that can only be removed by demon hands.”

Omen looked at me with a death glare. Understandably so.

“What I want is very simple. I wish to kill God. Now, I know what you may be thinking, how can a single werewolf help in a deity vs deity war? The answer to that, my friend, is time. Faron is... Special. His ability to slow time would be an invaluable asset in my conquest. There is only one small issue though.”

Omen Looked at me like i was a crazy person. Fair enough, I suppose more explanation is needed.

“His ability is severely limited. It will only ever work on him and him alone. My proposal to you is this. Willingly submit to me.”

Omen was baffled by my request. “I could never make such a decision without consulting Faron first. It’s his body too.”

All right, fine. I was hoping to avoid this, but I guess I don’t have any other options.

I connected to Faron’s consciousness while suppressing the poison coursing through his veins, before ripping his mind away from the body. His body was now clinically dead, more or less.

His mind, however, was now in my pocket dimension.

“What... Where am I?” Faron asked. “Omen? Why are you here?”

Omen snarled at me. Faron looked toward where his wolf was looking, and we made eye contact.

“Now, Omen. Your precious human is here too. Yes, or no?”

“What are we agreeing to, Omen? Who is this guy?”

Omen put his paw on Faron’s mouth.

“This guy is the demon Lord of Hell. You’ll do wisely to keep him pleased... Now, his request was that we willingly submit to becoming his thrall. The alternative... Is death.”

Faron looked shocked hearing the words his wolf spoke.

“If the alternative is death... Yeah. I’ll say go for it.”

Omen looked into Faron’s eyes. “Are you one hundred percent sure about this? We can’t go back if we change our mind. I’m... I’m willing to die if that’s what you want. At least we can be together in the afterlife-”

“GOD! Cut to the chase! Yes or no! Do you want to help me kill God or not?”

“-But I'm afraid we’ll end up in hell. If we do, he will get his way regardless.”

Faron looked deep into his wolf’s eyes. “You’re willing to die... If that’s what I want?”

“Without a second thought.”

“Then... My answer is...”

“Yes.”
